I've been using 12% AHA for a while now and when it's finished, Im thinking of changing to using something more natural. What AHA is doing for my skin now is that it makes my skin smoother, unclog pores. It helps to fade acne scars to a small extent but they're not totally gone. Any product which does that? Was thinking of using carekate's pearl cream. |

I made my own mixture, with the help of one of the DIY sticky's and its working incredibly well right now. its getting rid of the redness almost completely, fading some discoloration, maintaining my already soft skin, not over drying, cleared majority of my blackheads and milia, and preventing all this oiliness i usually get in my T zone (i have combination skin) and its been a week. I havent seen results like this in years.
I've expanded on the concept...
1 tbl spoon of granulated sugar
4 drops of lemon oil
4 drops of ylang ylang oil
4 drops of grapeseed oil
1/4 tbls spoon of liquid from 1 green tea bag and 1 white tea bag that I let sit in boiling water for 45 minutes and cooled it in the fridge.
mix it up and place it on your face after you place your face in a bowl of hot water so that the steam allows you to sweat and open up your pores ( 3 mins ) wash with a cleanser afterwards to remove the waxy glaze over your face.
I generally do this before I sleep as I find that I heal and generally improve my skin during that time. I dont use anything afterwards nor do i feel obliged to moisturize. |

You can either use a gentle enzyme exfoliate, like mixing up some aspirin/bromelain/papain with rice bran, or you can try some strong manuka honey (with UMF 20+ at least) which also has active enzymes to dissolve dead skin. |

MS-
Are you saying to steam, then put the mixture on, leave it on for 3 min, and wash off? TIA |

AHA's are fruit acids. That's pretty natural... |

Thanks Katee! That's exactly what I was thinking!
Now I can see where someone would want to find a more natural variation of BHA's ... although salicylic acid is chemically derived from a very natural source ... white willow bark's salicyn [?sp?] ... but AHA's couldn't really be more natural.
