Much as I like to think myself the hard nosed bargain hunter, I have to stand before you and say
"hi, my names Liz and I'm addicted to packaging" As I mentioned in another thread, I have two (out of 7) estee lauder cubes that have identicle shades, but slightly different colours. They are actually a rather horrid yellow that I knew didn't suit me but I thought how lovely they'd look on my b/room shelf. I have guerlain powder compacts even though I never use powder just cos they're pretty...I actually really love their packaging! and chanel I'm not that impressed by the product, but I love those compacts
Please tell me I'm not alone |

I love packaging but I am learning to control that side of myself and am finding that my favourite things that do not look pretty on bathroom shelf are actually the best. TAKE CONTROL. |

I wish I liked the Chanel skincare because of the packaging...
I also bought RL Blue because of the bottle, but ended up hating the smell, so I swapped it
Most of the time, I'm pretty normal, though |

loopy, I am trying! and as I'm thinking of swapping the strivectin (which has totally gross package) for Dr H then I'm hardly totally swayed am I? I am a lot more suspicious or flash skincare packaging...anyone used lancome's Resolution? nice tub cr@p product! It's really makeup that does it for me. Like my touche eclat is almost out and I want to try the no7 version as it is supposed to be more...soft? but I love the YSL packaging, and have you seen those cute dior compact lipglosses? I don't wear lipgloss, but I would if I had one of those! Oooh and clarins fairy lights ... |

You're not alone Guapagirl, I'm there with you! *group hug*
Ok here goes, interesting there is some overlap with Guapagirl
Guerlain Les Meteorites
YSL Touche Eclat
Clarins Instant Light Perfecting Touch
Clarins Fairy Lights
YSL Semi-Loose Powder
Lolita Lempicka Solid Perfume
There might be more - I don't want to think too hard though in case I come up with something that I once wanted to get and didn't, thus making me want to get it again
Btw, I love Lolita Lempicka perfume so I didn't get it purely for the packaging. I must admit I haven't used it though (I've got the rest of the range to use) because I don't want to spoil it. You'd understand if you saw it: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P48408&shouldPaginate=true
I bought the YSL powder purely for it's clever "pressed-to-loose as required" packaging. Luckily it turned out to be quite a decent powder |

OMG! I love that apple! it actually sounds quite nice smell too! Does the aple look as good in real life though? It's just I remember how disappointed I was when I got my boudoir edp...nothing like the adverts , but I do like the smell so it's ok...will try and get the real perfume to see if the bottle is upgraded if I can find anywhere to sell me it! I'm also tempted to try and get this
http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P67619&categoryId=B23
again just cos it is SUCH a cool bottle! the smell sounds right for me as well...omg! just checked the uk price £120 for 15 ml of perfume ...mind you perfume does last longer and it always comes in better bottles |

I can't say that I've ever truly bought a product for it's packaging. At least, not that I can remember. Then again, I do like the cutesy packing from BeneFit, and own a couple products. Altogether, however, I'd rather get more "bang for my buck". Having worked for Estee Lauder in the past, I know all too well how much of your money goes into paying for their packaging, advertising, and mediocre product. It's true of all companies, unfortunately. Call me a convert, but I now go bargain hunting, and get a thrill out of finding deals. Example: I don't buy Estee Lauder or M.A.C blush anymore. I have been buying a drugstore, Canadian brand by the name of Annabelle. At $6 per pot of blush, this is probably the best thing I've found! So many compliments on my shade (#2) - even while walking through cosmetics departments AND ... their packaging is the same, high-laquer black as M.A.C used to have about ten years ago. |

Kanebo has nice packaging, and nice products too The YSL skincare looks really nice, but I haven't tried anything of it (yet, but will try the enzyme peeling). |

hehe some interesting ones there ladies.
from a guys point of view I tend to love things which are just one colour and as simple and to the point as possible, for that reason the first line of mens products that I ever bought was Clinique - all grey! There facial scrub is about the harshest scrub I've ever used and their scruffing lotion..well the less said about that the better! So even though I loved the packaging I couldn't get myself to re-purchase even though I was tempted a couple of times. |

MBL,
Complete opposite! Not surprising though, my other half was sceptical about Anthony Logistics till he tried it. Why? Because of the packaging (it's actually pretty plain in my opinion). He likes the stuff now though and has learned to live with a bit of orange on the packaging Most of their range is pretty plain white/grey/black though.
Have you tried Aramis Lab Series skin care? Just plain Black&White and some things in their range are quite good (so I'm told). I hear that the men's Clinique stuff is just the repackaged women's product - not sure if it's true but I was told this by a friend of mine who happens to be a Clinique counter manager. I wouldn't go near their clarifying lotions and face soaps ever again! |

hey mabsy,
Good point, Anthony Logistics packaging is also very good, basic and looks very professional, good products too also on every purchase they donate something towards prostate cancer research which has got to be a good thing! I think you're right about the Clinique mens being womens as well in some cases, very dodgy I say by the sound of it you agree about some of their products. I haven't actually tried the Aramis Lab series, big name big brand which place around 5 ads in the same mens mags which usually means one thing imo - harsh and overhyped. I hope your taste in colourful packaging doesn't reflect in your dress sense though mabs, I'm not sure if I could take it without some shades on. |

why d'ya reckon it's dodgy using the same stuff as women? I got so sick of guapaboy using my stuff that I ended up buying lidl's night cream and putting it in my resolution pot. he hasn't notices that it's always full yet and my good stuff isn't squandered on his mush!
have to say tho, clinique packagng reminds me of old ladies knickers...it would have to be really amazing to encourage me to repurchase (which it aint) |

Guapagirl - you kill me! Btw, I don't think he meant it was dodgy to use women's stuff, just that it was dodgy for Clinique to make it look like it was a different product. Then again I should probably shut up and stop putting words in his mouth
MBL - The only thing I like from the Clinique skincare range is the Repairwear Night Cream. That's it. My other half had some of the Aramis Labs stuff and said it was pretty good. His fave stuff though comes from King of Shaves (aparently you just can't get any better than their shaving oil), Anthony Logistics and Burt's Bees. Three items from three different brands. Mind you he's just tried the Microfoliant the other day and liked it. I reckon I can manage to increase his collection - or perhaps he'll just be stealing from mine....
Things are not that bad on the color front in terms of wardrobe. I think I overcompensate for the navys/blacks/browns and beiges by choosing colorful packaging Mind you, I *DO* have a bright yellow tee with big bright green smiling peas (that have cute little outstretched arms). Underneath it it says "Give peas a chance" (in bright green of course!). Don't wear it much though bright yellow and bright green are just not my colours |

guapagirl it's not dodgy using womens stuff as long as it's good, if on the other hand if it's like some of clinique's stuff then no thank you. (spot on there Mabsy!) How come you're so mean to guapaboy doesn't he derserve his own lil pot you meanie??
Mabsy, he knows his stuff, the KOS oil is very decent! Also good colours there! I think that bright yellow would work well at the moment in the UK, it could definitely do with some brightening up!
I've finally got this post right sheesh it was only about my 10th edit! |

OOOH! I love that! yuk colours (for me!) but what a package! :swoon:
I agree anout KOS MBL, I still think the shave oil is best though...never really gone for the gels, though guapaboy likes them. Which brings me on to sharing with loved ones. If I can't use his mach 3 or king of shaves, why should he use my nice creams? Plus, because he shaves his head, he uses it ALL OVER! Can you imagine how quickley he'd get through a £40 pot of cream? Also, he's always moaning that expensive stuff makes no difference and you may as well just put axel grease on. His eyesight is so bad that he only notices what my skin is like if it has changed significantly (like I burn it all off ) and the git has been blessed with the kind of genes that made mini-me's friend say that she didn't know she had a brother (mini-me is 13 and guapaboy is soon to be 45). SO DON'T CALL ME A MEANIE!
....wow, that feels better! |

OK this is totally off thread, but I'm trying really hard to arrange a surprise b.day party for guapaboy that is involving calling chinese take-aways in carmarthen to gain access to numbers of his old friends and he is being VERY mean to me at the moment. It's best I stick to make=up I think! I'm also trying to cut down on the amount of booze I imbibe btw loopy! |

...well I want the lola to go!....can't quite make out what it is, but I want it! the mascara reminds me of one my mum used to use (mary Quant) except in a blue container. Red is defo best! The lipgloss, I'd lose it in days and don't use it anyway, though I was tempted by a duo by geurlain at half price cos the pack was so beautiful! I like the look of the A list thing, buit that means fewer pretty containers, and thus defeats the object for me!
If the link isn't going straight to the mascara, just follow links for eyes and then mascaras, they all have same packaging, but it doesn't do them justice, they look and feeel like beaten gold. I am gonna have to get one I think, just as soon as my next student loan comes through |

The Lola looks very HOT! I think I would have to put my fishnets on and then tuck that into my bag. Very good=looking. Too bad guys just don't understand that make-up isn't just about application - the looking, the marveling, the trying on, the wiping off, the purchasing, the bringing home, the packaging....it's performance ART! Being a girl is so much fun, isn't it? |
