I'm wondering if any of u experts here know if this is a good UVA protection moisturizer for daily use. (for incidental exposure to sunlight?) Its active ingredients are 7.5% Octinoxate, 6.0% Zinc Oxide, 2.5% Octisalate, and 2.5% Octocrylene. Based on some articles, it says that Zinc Oxide can cover up to 700nm of the UV rays? If that's the case, isn't it more than enough for good UVA protection? Thanks for clarifying! I'm really confused about this. |

Stardusty my opinion on this is that the sunscreen would be adequate for daily use. It has 6% zinc oxide which is the main UVA filter. The claim about zinc oxide protection up to 700nm applies only to the non-micronized versions. The UVA protection on the micronized versions trails off somewhere around 380 nm but I don't think that this is a big concern. I would have to research it some more but I beleive that most if not all sunscreen ingredients that offer good UVA protection start trailing off at some point around 380 nm or so. |
