OK I have read all the posts on light therapy devices and dermawand. They both have a lot of positive feedback. Which would you recommend primarily for toning, enhancing skin texture (have sun damage from my misspent youth), and lessening wrinkles...
Also I have 2 teenagers in the house who would benefit from something that would help with acne.
Especially interested in feedback from persons that have both. Which do you like better and why? Your thoughts or experiences are welcome. |

You're going to hate to hear this but I like mine both and wouldn't pick one over the other because they both serve great purposes. I have the Oxylight (weaker version of the Dermawand) and Quasar SP (stronger version of the Baby Q). |

I have only light therapy - I got LightStim and SoftLaser. I love the LightStim and get nice firm skin from using it. Not sure about the Softlaser, yet.
There are so many other miracle devices - microcurrent, galvanic machines to get out the gunk and input the actives, oxygen therapy.
I'm dubious about the value of oxygenating machines - I should think my skin gets enough exposure to oxygen from the air that touches it and the air I breathe. |

Is price a factor at all? Like the more it costs...the better it works? I'm looking into getting one of these devices, too. |

Value and results are more important to me then the price. And I have found from experience that higher cost does not always equate to better results...
So my question is really which do you feel you couldn't live without. Maybe it's both like scalawaggirl. Its maybe what I didn't want to hear - not so much for the cost, but of course that's always a factor, but because when will I have time to use them! |

I absolutely LOVE my DermaWand and use it every night!
I use it after applying all the nightly skin products, to help them penetrate. It's fun to use! It kind of buzzes, and smells interesting when you use it under your nose. The only negative is that if you use it while mousing and clicking on the computer, it seems to make the cursor jump unexpectedly.
It's made my skin firmer, smoother, and has given it radience and a translucent quality that at my age, I thought was gone forever!
It makes pores smaller. I used it on a friend after I did diamond microdermabrasion, steaming, and poresuction on her. She was thrilled.
I have an LED light device and I never use it. It's not fun to use and has never done much of anything when I have used it. |

Heatherfrom colorado. I was reading your post about the dermawand and I'm seriously considering purchasing one, but I would like to know about what age group are you in. I don't want it to be too personal, but around what age group are you in. Would this work for someone in their 50"s, or is it geared to those younger? |

heathercolorado about how long do you use your dermawand and at what setting? For instance do you change settings for certain problem areas like large pores or use one setting for the whole face?
Do you do the exercises that the dermawand book describes or just swirl it around your face? |

I'm jumping in here, because I agree with Heather 100%
I am 52, and have been using the DermaWand off and on for years. It is the one thing I can depend on for the odd break out, lack lustre appearance, and general tightening. I pull it out when I feel it's needed, and use it for a week or two to get things back on track!!
I vary the intensity based on the area I am doing. Higher on my general face, and lower around the eye area. It is important to feel the "stimulation", but you never want it to be uncomfortable.
I have used the "program" in the book, but was never disciplined enough to follow it regularly..I kind of use it as a guide, and do my own thing.
I can spend 15 or 20 minutes with it. I do a quick couple of swirls and circles all over my face right after washing and drying. Then,I add my "lotions & potions"(I think the wand helps them penetrate better) and spend the time on areas I feel need attention. Again using the suggestions in the book as a guide
As I have said on another thread...after a nice leisurely session with the DermaWand, my skin looks like I have just done a long brisk walk in the fresh mountain air. You can really tell you've stimulated your circulation because your skin just glows!!!
By the way, last week I tried Emu oil on my face for the first time (I usually use it as a hand treatment)...well, I ended up with a massive cyst which terrified me!! 2 days with DermaWand twice daily and it was almost completely gone. |

Does anyone know if DermaWand can be used on Rosacea prone or broken cap skin. Would it aggravate or help with the condition? TIA. |

I can't answer that question, but if you go to dermawand.com I am sure you can e-mail them and ask. |

Yes I guess I could have ask the company directly but I aslo afraid that I may get a not so objective answer for the very obvious reason. It would be nice to hear from someone's first hand experience too. |

Iaimei, I have rosacea and use a Dermawand, and find it can encourage broken veins, so I don't use it at all on my nose area as that's where I am prone to them. I can use it on the rest of my face and neck though, without any problems, although I don't use the higher settings. I love the glow it gives my skin, although for me, no firming or lifting. Apparently, it should never be used above setting 1 around the eye area, but you can go higher on or above the brow. I also have the Quasar SP. and love that too, (especially effective on my neck) but obviously there is a huge price difference, so if money is tight, I would say choose the Dermawand as this is one gadget I wouldn't want to be without. |

Hi aquarius86!
I'm an aquarius, too!
I'm thirty-cough.
But I lie and say I'm 29. Thanks to the dermawand, no one's laughed so hard they've spit milk at me! |

Hi dbagal!
Well, I have insanely tough skin (I use Super CP serum straight, every night, and lots of it!)
The day I got the dermawand, I turned it to the higheest setting and have never turned it down.
I use it all over the face, especially on the few tiny lines I have under my right eye and in front of my ears. I also focus on my lips, as it seems to make them bigger
I use it for about a half hour every night, while I read and post here on EDS. |

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I hope I made a good choice, I bought the Dermawand yesterday. Heather from Colorado I have you beat by 20 some years. I hope it does for my skin what it has done for so many I've read. I do have another question. Does anyone keep purchasing the liquid products they suggest you put on your face before using it, I think one was some kind of mist. |

Thanks everyone for your posts! You have convinced me to buy the Dermawand. I have a gift certificate from amazon that I can use to buy it too. Bonus!
Heather I have you beat by more then 20 years, cough, hack. And unfortunatly I STILL get acne once in a while, so the Dermawand should be useful for that as well as the other stuff.
I can't wait to use it! How long before you saw results? |

I want to post a question to see what gadget works the best for pore reduction and texture on women late 40's to 50's. And which one seems to thicken and increase collagen the best on that same age group. There is a thread for over 50 but I think there are a lot more gadget users out there who are not seeing that thread. Should I go on each thread or start a new one with just that question. I am just afraid people who have these things are not still getting notified of posts. Some of these threads are old. |

Ah, so you're fifty-cough? Excellent! I saw results instantly, as far as a healthy glow. Eyelids firmed immediately, as did the jawline. Still working on the fine lines under the right eye--they've improved immensely, but I've been doing other things to them besides dermawand, so I can't say how much of the improvement can be attributed. |
