Has anyone used this makeup??? I've seen the starter kits online...and I'm wondering if they are a good deal, and if the product really works. I have very fair, combination skin (a bit oily on forehead, nose chin and dryer on cheeks). Also, has anyone used the eye shadows or lipsticks??? I just discovered EDS, and LOVE it! Lots of great, honest opinions.

Welcome Gemini! I'v tried BE but didn't care for it because I never found a good color match, the finish was too shiny, it gave me clogged pores and made my face itchy whenever I sweat. Makeup Alley reviews here: http://www.makeupalley.com/product/searching.asp?x=y&CategoryID=0&brandname=bare&brand=523&title=&GO.x=0&GO.y=0.
IMO there are many other mineral makeup brands out there with better ingredients, prices and color range. My personal fav is Laura Mercier's new Mineral Powder SPF 15, with pearl powder (benefits of pearl powder here: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=17656&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0).
You will find this forum a wealth of info when it comes to MMU (and skincare of course!) and I hope you find something that you love and that suits your skin.

Hi Gemini woman,
I've used bare escentuals mineral makeup...I'm with Dollbird on this one: The Laura Mercier mineral foundation is fantastic - IMHO, far better than BE...BE can (IMHO) be a bit cakey and a little chalky around the eyes...The Laura Mercier buffs on like a dream...I believe there are only four colours though..There are a couple of really informative active Laura Mercier threads here on EDS..if you do a search you'll hit on them easily.
have fun Very Happy

Dollbird and Pudoodles,
Thanks much for reply and Laura Mercier recommendations. I checked out Makeup Alley and saw lots of negative reviews of Bare Minerals...so I'll definitely explore other options. One other quick question...how does one become a VIP and get discounts??? With good makeup and skincare being so expensive...I love to save $$$.

Take care! Very Happy

You need 1,000 posts to become a VIP member. It all depends on the number of posts you have. I think if you have 10 you'll become a full member.

I used BE for four years because I thought it was my only option. It always looked shiny on me, but I dealt with it.

After discovering EDS, I realized all the possibilities in MMU!!! I personally won't ever go back to BE foundations but I do use BE eyeshadows all the time.

Hi Geminiwoman,
The discounts are a function of the number of posts you make on the forum. I think the levels are: 10 posts for 5% discount, 50 posts for 10% discount, 250 posts for 15% discount, and 1000(?) posts for 20% discount. I'm not positive on these amounts, but you get the idea. Welcome!

I didn't hate BE at all, but when compared to many other similarly priced MMU's, it's not so great. I am currently madly in love with the new laura mercier MMU, but you should know that many of the best companies will send you samples for next to nothing. Read reviews on alima, uglogirl, lumiere, and everyday minerals and you'll get an idea of how each is a little different.
