So, here's my story:
A few days ago, I somehow managed to end up with the largest, angriest blemish in the history of the world, right smack dab in the middle of my chest of all places. This thing was an unholy monster!!!! Luckily, after a few compresses of Carekate's Bump Blasting potion, it came to a head and with the help of DH (sorry, I know it's gross, but I'll tell you what, times like this I'm glad I'm married!) I managed to extract that sucker!!! However, the ah, aggressive extraction process left the middle of my chest red, swollen, and sore. I was getting ready for bed, so I soaked the pad of a bandaid with more of the Bump Blaster and went about my nighttime routine. However, I accidentally used a so-called "Active" band-aid with extra-strong adhesive. As you all know my skin is ULTRA-sensitive, so within 20 minutes or so my skin was so terribly irritated by the adhesive that I had to remove the band-aid. (I'd like to note here that the patch of skin that was covered by the band-aid pad was not irritated at all, so it was indeed the adhesive, not the bump blaster, that was irritating me.) I removed the band-aid and was horrified to see what was under it. While the Bump blasting solution has managed to being SOME of the swelling down (My chest now more closely resembled Vesuvius, not Everest), there was still lots of swelling, AND I was now plagued by a terrible red, itchy rash where the band-aid adhesive had been. Mein Gott, I just can't win!! I was trying to think of what I should put on it to calm it down--- I needed something to soothe the rash, the itching, and the redness, but something that would also treat the post-extraction swelling WITHOUT re-clogging our friend Vesuvius. Aha!!! I remembered that I had just purchased a kit that contained a tube of Baby Bee Diaper Ointment. Actually, I had been planning on using it on my hand eczema, but the MUA girls had been raving about it for blemishes and rashes, so I thought, why not, right? It comes out of the tube as a thick, opaque white cream, and it smells of lavender and chamomile, ahhhhh! I spread some over my poor chest and immediately felt the itching and burning subside! I felt slightly better, so I called it a night and went to bed. In the morning I dashed to the bathroom and anxiously peered at my chest. It was like a miracle! The redness was gone, the rash was gone, and the swelling was 100% gone!!! There was still a small red mark where Vesuvius had been (darken my doorstep no longer, vile fiend!!!), but when I ran my finger over the area I didn't detect even the slightest bump. I had DH feel it too, and he couldn't believe it!
One thing to keep in mind is that the first ingredient in this stuff is zinc oxide, so it's going to be VERY white on your skin--- probably a night-time or under-clothes treatment only for most people. If you (like me!) are skeptical about a diaper ointment working so well for rashes and blemishes, instead of buying a full size tube you can buy a handy Baby Bee try-me kit for $7 or so that contains a travel-size tube of this skin-healing goodness. That way, should you be disappointed you still can enjoy the Baby Bee lotion, dusting powder, baby oil, buttermilk bath, etc etc. However, should you be interested in taking the plunge and buying a full-size tube (which I will be doing pronto!), it'll run you around $7 for 1.75 oz at grocery stores, drugstores, and drugstore.com. The ingredients are: Zinc Oxide, Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Jojoba Oil, Lavender Oil, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Extracts Of Rosemary, Lavender, Calendula, Chamomile, Rose Petal, Comfrey Root
I'd like to add that while I don't have any babies myself, I can only imagine what a dynamite job this stuff would do at taking care of diaper rash after seeing how it cleaned up the disaster area known as my chest. I have a friend who is having a baby in a few months, so I'm going to make sure a tube of this stuff finds its way into her hands!

Hello, back after along while
The zinc oxide in it does make it only a nighttime treatment, and it also makes it a good treatment for dry eczema skin like the whole peeling lip situation that sent me to these boards last year.
That has cured thanks to California Baby calendula cream and tea tree oil coupled with nighttime treatment of Burt's Bee's Herbal Defense zinc oxide treatment (the green tube one, not this baby one). I use the calendula cream as maintenance now for this and other eczema prevention.
The only thing to worry about with this diaper creme is the Sweet almond oil, at least for me I think it wasb ad for the healing. When I stopped using a natural lip moisturizer that had it as amain ingredient and switched to a Badger shea olive oil formula, I noticed a difference so I stopped using the Burt's Bees too and healed quickly. I don't know if it was just a coincidence. |

Ok - first of all, manslayerliz, you're too funny!!! I always love reading your posts!
DH has a bizarre rash/sore in the corner of his mouth, I'll go pick some up tonight.
On a Burt's Bees related note - DH had a zit coming out on his nose, I mean, his nose was angry red and he said it really hurt. Then the skin on his nose started peeling and cracking, so one night before bed, I covered it (thick layer) with Burt's Bees Carrot Day Cream. Well... let me tell you!!! He woke up to not only a super moisturized nose (peeling and craking gone) the redness has gone down by 75% too! I was amazed!
Gotta give snaps to that Burt and his bees! |

gottahaveitall--- I'm so glad you enjoy my posts! I hope that this cream works for DH's rash--- it's really brilliant for that sort of thing, so I have high hopes for it. However, if you use it for a few days and don't see any improvement, you might want to try Carekate's Herbal Healing Salve. I'm prone to cracks/rashes at the corner of my mouth (ugh), but I've found a lot of relief using CK's healing salve.
and yes, vonstella is absolutely right, the diaper ointment and the healing defense ointment are exactly the same. However, I still think trying the baby bee diaper ointment is the way to go, because you can get the handy trial-size in the pack of other delicious baby bee goodies!^-^ |

Thats how I tried it, I found two of those Baby Bee kits on sale for 5 bucks each! Plus the tube is cuter! |

Adding a tube to this to my next order at Vitacost!! Sounds like one of those "secret weapons" one should always have on hand.
I have a arsonal laden cupboard for colds, flu, aches and pains, rashes, hives, etc. etc... so a super zit healer would be wondy. |

So you guys are saying that this Burt's Been Baby cream will help with eczema? My DD has very bad eczema and I am always searching for stuff (natural, if at all possible) that could help.
Thanks for the info.

I'm definitely adding the Getting Started Kit to my vitacost order! I was wondering what it includes and here I find the answer. This would be the best way to sample their products and I *LOVE* travel sizes! |

Just checked the box (bought it today ) and it doesn't say .
I also bought a small travel size of Weleda Diaper cream and that one has 12% Zinc oxide.
I'll try it on my blemishes and my dd's eczema. Will post the results .

Oh, I bought it (and the Baby Bee one) at the health-food store (Noah's) where I work (down-town Toronto). It was a 2-minute walk to get them .
Call your local health-food stores and ask if they carry Weleda.

So far I am applying Baby Bee to my dd's eczema with - what seem to be - quite good results .
I am using Weleda on my acne and red acne spots. I don't really know what to say at this point. It seems a bit early to say one way or another.
I think we'll have to spend a bit more time observing the results (and than switching the creams we use) before I can say if and which of the creams is doing what for each of the conditions ( does this sentence even make sense ).
I'll keep you posted.

I bought a bottle of this at CVS last night and tried it. It's quite thick and leaves a white residue, I'm sure that has something to do with the first ingredient which is zinc oxide and smells like tea tree oil. I like the smell, but the feel is a little heavy. Let me tell you though I only apply this before bed and it seems to work. I had a stubborn little zit on the side of my face and this zapped it into place last night. So I must say, for a diaper rash cream it works for other things. |

OHMYGOSHTHISSTUFFISTHEBESTEVER!!!!
ok breathe...I can't say ENOUGH about this cream!!!
So I'm super stressed, facing final exams, my last week of graduate school, on top of trying to schedule a thesis defense in the summer, finding time to actually work at my job, and stay sane!!
I've been looking like I was hit by a truck, dark under eyes, puffiness, and all around tired complexion. I've been using this for only a few days and already my face looks so much better! I've only been using it around my eyes and it's the best part of my night before bed. The first morning I woke up, my husband even commented (HE NEVER SAYS ANYTHING!!!) that I looked like I slept well. Little did he know I had a midnight freak out about finding a time for my thesis defense in August (which has now been moved to July because my advisor will be schlepping around Europe)...I didn't fall asleep until well after 2am and had to get up at 6.
I'm all grins for this diaper cream!!!
This is going to be one of my staples. And if Burt ever discontinues it...that'll be the last anyone ever sees of Dr. Burt!!!! |
