Does anybody know how to take care of the brushes from the Bare Escentuals range?
I cannot find advice on this anywhere, and so washed one of my brushes in soapy water last week and it seems to be far less effective than before!?! I think I have washed it in the wrong way. I now only have one brush left but it needs cleaning and wondered if anybody knows the correct proceedure.
Thanks for any advice! |

I was just at the Bare Essentials store and asked the sales lady that same question. She said to wash the brush every 2 weeks with baby shampoo and to condition it every month also.

Yes, I agree! Using shampoo and hair conditioner will be the best way taking care of the brushes. Sometimes, I just skip the conditioning procedure.
Once a while, I also use make-up remover creme (not the oil type) to wash the brushes, one reason I am doing so is because those make-up removers are not my faves and I am trying to find a way finishing them up, second, feel that this would better take off the make-up residues that stuck in there, just my personal preference , anyway, remember to bring them back to shape, lay flat, and air dry, usually, I wash them in the evening, and they should be ready by the next morning. |

Thanks guys, I'll try this - maybe I can even bring my ruined brush back to life!
Do you know if this is also the way to clean the concealer brush which seems to be a completely different texture? |

I think all of the brushes can be cleaned by using gentle shampoo and then followed up by conditioner. I skip the conditioner step for any synthetic brushes though. I read somewhere that the worst thing you can do to your brushes is use your regular cleanser because the oils in it seep into the bristles and make it less effective at picking up product. You should also make sure that water doesn't get into the ferrule of the brush, so always wash them with the bristles pointing down. If you get water into the ferrule then over time the glue holding the bristles in becomes less and less effective.
If you go to http://www.a-squirrel.com, they have really good care instructions for brushes. The site is a bit confusing in design but just try to spot a "caring for brushes" link or something along those lines.
