Hi, I mostly lurk and have only posted a few times. I wanted to post some reviews of some of my favorite products. The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is one of my secret weapons. It is very finely milled and is the only powder I can use over my undereye concealer (for my very problematic bag/circle undereyes) that sets the concealer, subtly brightens the area (without sparkles), and absolutely never settles into lines.
I use this powder in many areas, wherever there are depressions that I want to subtly bring out, such as the nostril nasal/labial corners, under the lip corners, inner eye depressions, etc. I would not be without it!

Thanks for the review.
This product gets raves on MUA, so I'm hoping this could possible be an alternative to the La Mer loose powder.. Will be trying very soon |

I have one too and as a random suggestion to those who use loose MMU, just add a dash to your powder for a more luminous look . I do this for a night out and it works just fine. Less glittery than a glimmer cream etc, but still glowy.
Next time I break out my liquid foundation, just might add a dash to make my own "brightening" foundation. |

*shushes catski* Now now, some of us (like silly me) bought this when we did not have the EDS forum. Don't scare the would be users away, it isn't as bad as it sounds.
Seriously I use it under my eyes and they are fine. You really do use only a teensy bit each time. If you have a concealor brush, just lightly dip the head into the powder, wipe it on the edges and that is more than enough for one eye.
I haven't seen the equivalent of this in MMU, although I hear April's Mix by P is good for a glow. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll def give that a try as I have one of these I haven't used for ages as I didn't have much luck using it around my eyes. (looked sparkly) I may have been applying it wrongly, just putting it over the whole eye area with a large brush, instead of using a concealer brush in specific areas, like others mentioned. |

It is true that the powder contains 'cones etc., so if you're sensitive to them, obviously you wouldn't use it. But my skin is quite sensitive in general, and I have no problem with this powder. So I wouldn't rule it out if you have sensitive skin, unless you are reactive to those specific ingredients. Also, you do use very little. I have a tiny tub that has lasted me for years.

to those who are scared off by the ingredients, a LOT breaks me out but I have yet to find a laura mercier product that does...even though the ingredient list is scary.
I use the tinted moisturizer and it is my HG for foundation, spf, and day moisturizer. |

Tangal, it's a white powder. I only have a few favorite "secret weapon" cosmetics, and this is one of them. I'll never go back to using regular face powder under my eyes! |

I've never used powder under my eyes.
Doesnt it accentuate wrinklies? |

No, it does the opposite. It has light reflecting capabilities that help to disguise fine lines and wrinkles (subtly, of course, no miracle!) It sets makeup and at the same time "helps" whatever area you're using it on. It helps keep the makeup from creasing, too. |

Seabliss, do you use this powder all over your face? Or just on areas you don't want to appear so noticeable? And lastly (don't laugh) does it come with instructions on how to blend out the troublesome spots? Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure that SunCat minerals do a powder very much like this one, but without the cones etc.
Her products are super - pure. |

Ok there is two colors for the Secret Brightening Powder. No.1 is pink based and No.2 is more yellow based
It is like a very very finely milled loose powder with shiny reflecting bits.
I usually use it under my eyes along with the Everyday Mineral concealor as the latter doesn't do enough to hide my dark shadows.
There is no instruction as such for this but you can of course go to a counter and test it out. But for aid, just think of it as an illuminating loose powder. |

Seabliss -I wouldn't be without this stuff either!! I LOVE IT!!! I think there are two powder shades now....the purely white one and then another slightly darker one (that is still extremely light!). I think that the Laura Mercier secret brightening pen is comparable to other similar highlighting products out there but the Brightening powder is in a class all its own -- four big stars from me on this stuff! I get mine at Holt Renfrew.

Hi SharonJ - by foundation for eye do you mean the LM concealer? I've used the concealer (secret concealer)....it is not bad but it certainly didn't stand out for me...I found it to be a little more moist than MAC's studio concealer (just a tad, though)but it isn't anything great....LM also has another concealer called Secret Camouflage - it is a really dense concealer (feels like dermablend)...doesn't blend easily on the skin and IMHO it increases the look of lining...LM also another light-reflecting two-shade concealer compact that I haven't tried so I can't comment on it.

Just an update. Last night I tried for the first time mixing some of the Secret Brightener Powder into my Alima MMU, then went out for drinks. Someone actually complimented me on how great my make-up looked...and I wasn't wearing that much, just the MMU and blush, mascara and tinted lip balm. Well I'm always suspicious of compliments from strangers, but still....
Thanks for the tip, Cuppre! |

Woo hoo appletini! I bet you just looked gorgeous, even without the LM powder. But it is such a lovely thing and I love finding new uses for it.
If I was to use it for setting my undereye concealor it will last me for years and hamper my "must test this" urge. |
