Hi Smile This is my first post on the EDS forums. I want to try a Retin A product, but want to use the gentlest one available. Any advice on what that would be? Is it the Retin A Micro that's more gentle? I tried Green Cream but didn't like it Rolling Eyes
Any advice would be appreciated Smile

It depends on your skin type. If your drier I would go for the cream and for oily skin the gel. You should use the lowest strength to start though ive started straight on the 0.05% without too many problems(just peeling)

You should start 2-3 nights a week as well to reduce irritation.

Welcome to the forum btw

Very Happy

I got my retin a micro from the doctors. Its only 0.04 percent. I use it under my eyes. Its pretty simple. I just asked him for some and he wrote a presription and it cost me about 11 dollars at the pharmacy with my insurance. I got the gel. I like it so far.

Im using the cream. I was worried the gel might be a bit drying for me.

Also as far as 'gentle' goes, well retin a is strong stuff. Avene Retinaldehyde is more gentle on the skin but less effective.
What skin type do you have?

Hi There
Just saw this thread and wondered if anyone has advice on switching from skinceuticals retinol cream 0.5% to retin a micro-gel? I peeled a little with the retinol, but nothing too serious. Does that mean that my skin has accustomed a little and perhaps wont have too much reaction to retin A? Also, can you buy retin a micro gel on-line, or do you need a perscription?
Thanks for any help.

Hi vnewskin,

I am no expert, just started Retin A 0.025% cream last night, planning on going at it slowly. I came across this while checking for something entirely different, but it seems helpful. There are many experts here to answer your questions, but I thought some reading might help. I did purchase from one of the online pharmacies.

I am no expert, but IMO just because you tolerated the SC retinol does not mean you will tolerate the RA Micro gel. They are totally different. You may be just fine as the micro is "gentler" due to it being timed release. However, you still may get dryness/flaking with it. Just start slow at a few nights a week and slowly build up to nightly usage.
