Since summer is around the corner, Laura mercier tinted moisturizer is great! There are 2 types of tinted moisturizers, one is oil free- can be worn by all skin types but especially those with acne prone, sensitive or oily skin.Perfect for troubled skin.
Then there is the regular tinted moisturizer. Both are light-weight and spf 20.

I really like it too unless I'm not paying attention and use too much. Lightest application is what works for me.

For those of you that use this, either the oil free or regular formula...how long does a tube usually last for you? (Please let me know how often you use it).

Thanks so much!

Paris -- I can't even remember when I bought mine -- I would guess mid-2006? There's still quite a bit left in my tube. I wear it pretty much every day (sometimes on weekends I forgo it for a stronger sunscreen). I would classify it as a light foundation with some UVB SPF.

I have oily skin, so staying-power is always a problem for me -- with or without setting powder. The LM is decent -- but it's never caused me acne. Anything longer-wearing clogs my pores.

I use the oil free. MUA reviews talk about the color oxidizing, but I've never had that problem. I have light-med skin with yellow undertones, and the Nude is a good match. I wish it was just a little less moisturizing. The Sand is very orange!

I've also used the Senna TM (it's oil free, SPF 20). It's nice too, but can be a little harder to find. My complaint is limited color selection. Mixing the Light and the Medium is perfect for me...but I'm too cheap and too lazy Wink .

Glad to hear it lasts awhile. I've been thinking of trying it...but I'm torn which color to choose. I think either Porcelain or Nude...I'm afraid of Nude being to dark but I think Porcelain would be too light.

I normally wear MMU but would like extra coverage in some areas. And honestly I've been wanting to try LM TM for a year or two now...I just haven't brought myself around to purchase it. But I received a Sephora Gift Certificate for Christmas and figure it's as good a time as any to give it a whirl!

Smile Thanks for the replies!

I just got my refund back from Sephora after trying LM's tinted moisturizer (not the non-oil one) and I just couldn't get it to work for me, (it didn't blend easily looked kind of cakey on...) so I ended up sending it back. I had been wanting to try it for quite a while - I know for the most part, it gets raves...but as usual...my skin rebels. Confused I actually had better luck with Neutrogena's tinted moisturizer (it blended better or something) but it seemed to disappear before the day was out -

So this is a dumb question...it wasn't until I came to EDS that I've realized I can actually RETURN stuff that doesn't work for me. I know that you can return products to the Sephora store that you've tried, but can you do it through their website as well? There is NO Sephora in my town and I have to go through the website.

If I try it and don't like it, would I be able to ship it back and return it?

I know I know, dumb question, but I never thought you could return stuff you actually used and tried.

Would have been nice to know with all that Chanel junk I bought two years ago...

Paris -- Yes, you can ship and return back to Sephora. They send a return label with every shipment.

I've only done this once as it took several weeks for me to actually get my refund.

FYI -- Nordstroms also carries LM (they also have a great return policy).

I had the exact same experience with the LM tinted moisturizer. No matter what I tried--with no primer, various primers, moisturizer, etc.--it did not look good. Coverage was poor, it looked cakey and unnatural, and the moisturizer is not great. Definitely not worth $40! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to return it, so it's just more $ wasted.

Yup, Paris, like Marla says, if you order through Sephora's website, they send you a return shipment label with your purchase - you don't pay to return your product which is a lovely gesture. It took almost four weeks to see my $40 back in the ol' bank account - but b/c the return was so painless to do, it was no big deal to wait for the refund.

I've returned unused products to Sephora, or ones that broke during shipping (happened twice, once to an eyeshadow palette, and once to a bottle of Pink Sugar that busted during shipping and showed up half empty).

But I've never thought I could return something I tried and used...cool.

This takes the pressure off of my purchases from Sephora from now on...normally I sit on my shopping cart until I'm really really sure I want what is in it, then I buy.

Now I don't have to think as hard! I'm just waiting for a product to come back in stock, then I'm buying.

Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure whether this is still true, but in the past you could go to the LM website (lauramercier.com, I believe) and request a sample. That is a great way to make sure you've got the right shade before you buy full-size.

I use the regular (not oil-free) and I have combination skin. For a TM, it gives good coverage. I also like the fact that it does not sink into my lines as much as a regular foundation would. If you want, you can dust loose powder over it for a more matte finish and more staying power.

Overall, I've been very happy with it.

I've been wondering if, because I'm blemish prone, I definitely need to go with the oil-free, or if I could fly with the regular formula.

From what I could tell, there are two oils in the regular formula, Castor Oil and Kalaya oil.

Honestly, I'm not sure the "pore-clogging potential" of either.

Anyone know?
TIA!

ETA: I went to LM website and searched for samples...no such luck. Perhaps if I contact the customer service dept. There is only one place where I am that sells LM...it's an upscale health resort/spa (celebrities stay there) that I can't really walk into and ask to purchase LM. Le sigh.

ParisTroika, since we always end up in the same threads I'm pretty sure we have similar skin types. I've been using the LM tinted for 2 years and love it -- I don't use the oil free, because the regular isn't very heavy. I have combo skin and very prone to breakouts.
I've heard the oil free has a heavy coverage too, which I would not want -- and is a bit more matte. In the summer I pair it wth the Jurlique silk dust to make sure it doesn't get too shiny.
I do find that it lasts all day, but is not particularly moisturizing.

also try ordering it online from Nordstrom, then you can return it if you don't like it.

I've used it before but found it too oily and too sheer and therefore didn't repurchase it.

If you're Chinese, you might consider to buy Shiseido tinted moisturizer instead. Especially if you're on the fair side. The Jap products are generally a better match for Asian skin.

I bought the regular version because I heard the oil free turns orange.

The regular was very light, but my face was an oil slick in a couple hours. I exchanged it for the Oil-free version. It does not blend as easily, but if I use my foundation brush, it works like a charm.

My face stays matte well into the afternoon (with a big help from dr brandt's oil control gel)and it does not change colors at all on me.

I think the oil-free has a little bit more coverage that the regular, but it still doesn't look like foundation. They end up looking about equal because I apply the oil free with a foundation brush, so I use substantially less.

HTH,

Liz

Liz, I agree on all points! I switched to the oil-free version a few days ago because of the sudden heat here (the reg became too greasy on me as well). I think that not only is the color match better (lighter) but it really does seem to provide more coverage! No turning orange and no melting off, Ive found my HG foundation!!!!

Oh, that is hilarious vonstella! Especially since I got that TM because of you, LOL! The weather has been pretty icky, hasn't it?

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by its sunscreen abilities. I had some friends over Sunday. We spent the better part of the day out in the backyard. I had forgotten to put my regular sunscreen on under my TM and I wasn't even pink by the end of the day.

Looks like it is shaping up to be another steamy day.

i usually wear Laura Mercier oil-free foundation with SPF 20 and then the tinted moisterizer over top of that. Gives enough sun protection for the face for me
