I used to go to a place for facials and they would use this over the pimples they had extracted and it would speed up the healing and get rid of all bacteria. Do they sell at home units now that do something similar? |

Hi mommydearest,
There is at least one such home device ... a Zeno... but quite recently, our own Waffle came up with a DIY version that works just as well as the Zeno ... but for just pennies!
Here's the thread

Hope this helps.

I don't have a microwave - not sure things can get as hot in the oven. Very clever of her! Thanks. |

I have a Dermawand and it works identically to Zeno, and it is cheaper too. |

Do you just use it for zapping pimples? I will be getting an LED gadget so won't be using it all over face. |

Zeno is more for occasional breakouts. The area that comes in contact with your skin is about the size of an eraser on a pencil and it takes 2 1/2 minutes to complete a treatment. I have one and love it, but if you're dealing with a lot of breakouts, it's expensive and time consuming. As far as LEDs, blue is supposed to kill P. acnes, but I think people have had success with the red light. |

Mine are occasional. I like the sound of that diy Zeno but I think you need the intense heat of the microwave and I don't have one. Sounds like Zeno might be expensive for my needs. Love the shound of pinpointing right in there to get the bugger though. |

I have a zeno and really love it. I was skeptical and fully expecting to return it, but it really works! They go away soooo much faster now and I feel like I know what to do now when a nasty one pops out. |

I would love to find a way to get one for less. Even a used one. Just seems like a lot since I don't get these things on my face so often. Maybe the LED will keep them from ever coming again. I suspect it is hormonal though and not sure LED can fix that. |

I bought mine at Costco for about 1/2 the price - but it was a few months ago. You can always check ebay. The LED light I believe helps over time (I just got the baby quasar and am hoping it does) but when one or two pop out its an instant treatment that directly treats that spot with pretty immediate results (at least for me, my spouse and daughter). |

Don't forget your 15% forum discount if you go through EDS! You get some good use out of it when you buy big items.
About the DIY Zeno, I'm sure you could heat it up in the oven....mess around with times and temps before using it so you don't burn your face! |
