Avg hair growth is about 1/2" per month. Some does grow out faster and some slower. Do you know how long your hair grows each month? Mine is about 3/4" to an inch a month. How short is your hair, and what's your desired length? Have you visited the longhaircommunity.com? |

For me, it takes years to grow out short hair. I will never again have short hair for that reason. At the same time, I see others whose hair seems to grow like weeds. It's not fair!!! So I think it's very different for everyone. |

There is a shampoo and conditioner called FAST that supposedly aids faster hair growth. You can do a search for it on Google. |

I posted this on another thread:

I tried FAST shampoo and conditioner before, not because of my scalp sensitivity, but because I wanted my short hair to grow fast. It didn't seem to help any in that department. It was a few years ago, so I don't remember the details except it didn't seem to help grow my hair out any faster, and it was expensive. Also my hair didn't feel soft after using it. So I concluded there was nothing special about it to make me reorder. |
If you really want to try it, go for it. It's $20 a bottle. You may find it works for you. |

I recommend supplements.
I take MSM and biosil, both of which contribute to healthy hair and fast growth. It's really getting to be a hassle to keep my roots touched up!
I know some others are taking supplements specifically formulated for hair. I'm sure they will post on that soon. |

You should do a board search. This isn't a topic I've read into a lot, since it's not something I'm interested in right now, but as I recall, there have been quite a few threads on things you can add to your shampoo to encourage hair growth. They seem to get rave reviews here. |

I'm one of the ones with slow growing hair (after it hits about shoulder length). I'm trying to grow it out and its killing me. My cousin keeps telling me to stop trimming it...
I keep telling her I haven't trimmed it since December!!! |

You need to do massage regularly with your hair. |

I've heard that hair grows faster in warm weather so you could try rinsing with hot- warm water. Could be BS though! |

Omegas 3, Jarrow Biosil, or Phyto supplements for Hair/Nail/Skin. Right now I take Omegas 3 and Biosil. I have to cut my fingernails 3 times a week, my thin spot on my head looks a lot fuller and my hair grows like crazy. I'm not taking Phyto's supplements because they're too expensive, and I feel that Omegas 3 and Jarrow Biosil do the job just as well. |

I just bought a bottle of GNA Ultra Nourishair to try per Tangal's recommendation. I read reviews and it got great reviews from especially black women who were having trouble growing out their hair due to breakage. |

Being out in the sun, lots of sleep and plenty of protein all help the hair grow a lot more. |

I agree with you Camelia. Always found that when I'm at the cottage, sleeping like a log, eating lots of fish, spending time in the sun & swimming in fresh water, hair & nails grow like crazy.
And in the winter, 1000 mg/day Lecithin tabs also does the trick. Fortunately, I was born with naturally thick, fast growing hair/nails but what I've mentioned seems to speed growth. Come to think of it, think diet must play a role. I eat lots of fresh fruits/vegs, no soft/caffein beverages - basically a whole foods diet that is light on red meat. |

dufus newbie here...what does msm stand for?
is there AgNYONE who tried the manentail and got really faster growth? I read on anotehr board that was more medical that the nioxil shampoo is supposed to work. I tried the scalp treatment, but for hI air to grow FASTER I think that would need to come from inside the body |

i think it grows maybe half to one inch per month. You might like to try castor oil.
I also read silkia oil makes hair much nicer but i dunno if it does it reality or whether it makes it grow as well lol
And if you have split ends it wont grow. SO make you you trim those off. |
