I need help to make my 32-year-old skin glow!
I'm looking for a C serum that is stable, effective (for giving me that "glow"), *and* won't break me out.
For those who are breakout prone, which of the following C serums did and didn't work for you?
-Skinceuticals 10, 15, or 20
-Pure Skin Formulations 15
-SkinMedica C complex |

I'd like to add the Vivier C serum to the list above. |

I've tried Cellex C, PSF and Vivier. I don't consider myself prone to breakouts, but all did it for me! |

I get breakouts and perioral dermatitis flare-ups whenever the words "vitamin C" are stated on the package. And I am not prone to breakouts otherwise. |

I got the best results with Cellular Skin-RX. It's watery, sinks in right away and extremely stable. Oddly enough, this is one PSF product I didn't fall in love with. I liked PSF texture and it didn't clog pores, but my sample started to turn yellowish within a month. The Cellular Skin RX 1 oz. lasted me for early 3 months and stayed as clear on the last day I used it as it was when I first purchased it.

I am prone to breakouts and have been fine with all the Skinceuticals 10, 15, or 20. Also Vivier 20. Currently I am using Jan Marini C-Esta to fit into my JM routine. |

I have only tried (and am still currently using) one: PSF's, and it didn't break me out. |

I'm glad you started this topic. I'm very breakout prone and the only C serum I've ever tried broke me out, so I became paranoid about them. But I want the glow too! I'll request a PSF C sample with my next EDS order.
And for those of you who experience C-related dermatitis, I just wanted to share this tidbit: I read on some website that explained what "chirally correct" means, that the D-ascorbic acid, the "bad" molecule, is associated with dermatitis, dryness, itching and flaking, whereas the L-ascorbic acid, the "good" molecule, is the one associated with the benefits of topical C. So it might be worth looking into a chirally correct C product if you decide to brave the C trend again.
Hope this helps, and thanks for your suggestions, I'm taking note too! |

If your skin is oily and breakout prone I highly recommend Cellex C. |

i'm very prone to breakouts but thankfully the 2 vit c products that i've tried didn't break me out, they are true radiance vitamin serum (10% vit c, 1% retinol) and ultraceuticals ultra c sheer (20%). the ultraceuticals is a cream, not a serum but i like it a lot, so much so i ordered a full size after using up my samples |

Haven't tried any of the ones people have mentioned, but have not had any problems with Emergin C products. |

I am prone to breakout at the chin and lower cheek area, but Vivier C 20 does not break me out. PSF's is good but it is less stable than Vivier's. |

Your comments about D-ascorbic and L-ascorbic don't apply to my skin, as the 3 products I have had breakouts with are all L-ascorbic acid. I think it is the 'acid' part that doesn't agree with some skin. I'm really sorry about that because for a day or so everything seems to be fine and then the dermatitis starts. |

Aw, that's a real shame, but it's good to know for others who suffer from C-induced dermatitis. And even dermatitis issues aside, the one C serum I tried was L-ascorbic, and it still made me break out, so chirality is by no means a fix-all solution. Maybe some gals just aren't made for C. |

Probably the same way some gals just aren't made to be thin. Sadly, I seem to fit into both categories, LOL! |

I hear ya! I'm also not made to wear high heels, if we're keeping tally. |
