I've been using Estee Lauder for EVER (more than mascara... and tested their new ones... no idea the names) ... and am not so terribly unhappy... Just wondering what I might be missing... you know... the grass might be greener...
Specifically, I like a mascara that goes on fairly WET so that I can easily separate lashes... and layer if I want to. I have decently long lashes... Not interested in anything Waterproof...
Suggestions? Or a link to a discussion that I'm not picking up in a search?

Oh... editing to add.. nothing terribly fibrous... contacts don't like that! |

I really like the Dr Hauschka mascara - it goes on quite wet but the result looks very natural and it takes a little while to dry so you have time to separate lashes (it separates them quite well itself though). This mascara is only good IMO if you already have long and thick lashes - it just defines them but nothing too dramatic. As a bonus - it washes off easily with water and has a gorgeous rose scent to it 
For a more dramatic effect I used to reach for Diorshow, though I haven't used it for quite some time. |

| By far the most AMAZING mascara I have ever used. Not cheap, > $40. But excellent and long lasting. |

| I have never found anything that I like more than Maybelline Great Lash. I've bought some of the more expensive mascaras, but I always go back to Great Lash. It does go on wet, and I like that too, because I can easily put on a few layers before it dries. It's never clumpy either. I seriously doubt I'll ever try anything else. |

Fitmama, Sephora has a box of trial-size mascaras for sale right now for $35, so you might consider trying that just so you can experience the whole spectrum!^-^ This is the second time Sephora has done this--- the first time around was with different mascaras, but I bought it and found my HG mascara this way: Smashbox's Bionic. (LOVE that stuff!!!) I believe that Bionic is in the second box too, so you can sample it along with some other juicy-looking ones. |

| DiorShow is my HG mascara. I have long lashes, so I need volume that stays that way all day. I've tried other volume formulas but my lashes tend to look skimpy by the end of the day. The closest 2nd to DiorShow that I have found is CG Lash Blast (orange tube with the orange plastic spikey looking brush things). |

I like Blink Kiss Me mascara - it 'tubes' the lashes and does not smudge or give you panda eyes - even if you sleep in it (I know I know!!! very naughty!  )

Let me tell you, I am totally a mascara whore. I am not kidding that I have searched high and low and tried so many that I can't even begin to count. My all time favorite is Lancome definicils along with the cils primer they use. My only drawback is it tends to dry out and get flaky sometimes. I bought the Sephora mascara sampler this time around and it has one that I really like which is MUFE smokey eye. This gives me a little of volume and some length.
I know that lots of people love Diorshow and I guess it depends on if your looking for length or volume, big difference. Diorshow did nothing for me and flaked and bugged my eyes big time.
For drugstore brands I like Rimmell and Maybelline XXL, I constantly get compliments on how long my lashes are when I wear XXL and use my Shu Umera eyelash curler. (another must, and definitely use the Shu Umera, it does make a difference) I am now trying out the Double extend (tubes) mascara from Loreal, I love her lashes on the commercial.
I haven't been a big fan of blinc tubes, so who knows. I know a lot of people like Tarte lights, cameras, lashes. |

I tried a little sample tube of the Diorshow Iconic mascara that's just been brought out here and I really like it.
I love the Blinc Kiss Me mascara only because it never leaves any residue under my eyes and it so easy to remove, but I don't actually like how it makes my lashes look. Sometimes I apply a different mascara and layer the Blinc Kiss Me over the top. |

fitmama, have you tried EL Sumptuous mascara? It gives a decent amount of volume and length and is wet enough to allow for "play" time.
Also, I like Clinique Lash Power. Once it's on, it doesn't budge til you take it off with warm water....it's a "tube" mascara, and it gives outstanding length and curl.

Hi, I'm using a japanese tear proof brand that extends very well, hence I don't think u'll be interested.
However, I used to have problems with clumpy lashes until my gf taught me a simple trick. It also helps to separate the lashes.
Place a business card on the eyelid with the edge touching the edge of your eyes so that your lashes are in front of the card. Then mascara and coat your lashes. You will be able to see the individual lashes individually and this helps to coat them evenly.
I don't like the coated look so I do a variation of that. Mascara as per normal, then place the card as she suggested and use a clean mascara wand to go through the lashes again - this removes all the clumps and smoothens out the mascara. Any excess will be on the card.

The new one that came out from Estee Lauder was great, stayed on well and interesting colors! Sorry can't remember the name. I was sensitive to something in it but I did like it.  |

My all-time favorite for both volume and length is Prescriptive False Eyelashes...I haven't found anything else that compares, and I try them all!
My one complaint is that it seems to dry out fairly quickly. |

For waterproof and/or a really full lash look, I like DiorShow. (Can get a bit clumpy though - as the tube gets older...)
For a more natural lash - and a really nice, silky application, I like Shu Uemura.

I use Blinc's Kiss Mascara (original formula) It's good for the beach.
Avon has a variety of good inexpensive mascaras
I am wanting to try the Dior mascara.
The Shu Uemura eyelash curler really makes a difference which ever mascara you choose |

| I have been looking for a perfect mascara for soooooo long. All of the mascaras I have tried are so easily to melt onto my eye lid. Frustrating and annoying....But I really hate waterproof mascaras since they're so difficult to be taken off...Any suggestions, gals? |

I absolutely love Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara (not waterproof one) in Black. You can buy it here in Australia but not sure about o/seas.
It is fantastic as it separates lashes when you put it on and doesn't clump at all - just leaving you with full and soft lashes (hence the name!!).
I tried Great Lash but the wand was too short to create really full lashes IMO. And yes, I hate waterproof as its so hard to get off and I always end up with panda eyes the next morning no matter how much eye makeup remover I use. |

Hiya,
I loved Diorshow for a while but it dries out and is expensive. Sometimes in duty free I am lucky to get two in a box on a special but I think mascara has to be changed often so I have switched to Bourjois Clubbing. It goes on a bit wet but is very black and dramatic which I love for winter. I used Estee Lauder for a while but the finish was sort of boring or rather I got bored of it (you gals know what I mean)
Thanks for the tip on Armani and Prescriptives. Will check those out on my quest for bambi lashes. Sigh. |

I'm going to try some of the mascaras suggested in this thread.
I agree with eyeaddicted though about Diorshow; I bought a brand new tube at Sephora to try and while it didn't bother my eyes in an allergic or reactive way, I ended up with flakes and crumbs on the skin beneath my eyes every day I tried wearing it. So, have scratched that one off my list.
So far, my daily wear is Clinic's Naturally Glossy Mascara in Jet Black, which has absolutely no clumps in it, and goes on wet enough I can separate lashes if need be before it dries. |
