I never leave home with unlined eyes, and seeing that I have very oily skin I need a liner that'll stay put at least til noon. I have liked Maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner (a lot like MAC's one but way cheaper and works as well and lasts as long) but recently during my BB shopping spree I couldn't resist the lure of her Long Wear Gel Liner. The SA said it'll last all day, and will only budge if you wash it off.
Well okay sounds good so I deliberated whether to get the shimmery kind or the normal one and finally settled for the normal, in Black Ink. I was 'advised' to also get their Ultra Fine Eye Lining Brush to apply it with, because 'nothing will work as well'. But having spent so much already I decided I'd get the brush later.
When I got home I used my old dried up Maybelline pen that came with the liquid eyeliner to put on the BB gel liner and felt so good that it was a great FOC substitute for the expensive brush. It looked great, I could be as subtle or as dramatic with the liner as I wished.
I was sorely disappointed, however, that after hardly three hours it started to smudge and by noon the line on my lower lashline had disappeared! It could just be me, because my skin is so oily, but still...
I think that's enough said; I'm never repurchasing it - especially when there are better, cheaper, and easier to use alternatives.
Thank god I didn't get the brush. |

Oh, that is too bad because at $18 a pop its a bit expensive! Do you use an eye cream during the day? Maybe your eye cream is too heavy for day wear. Try an eye gel. Those work great for me and it doesn't affect my undereye concealer.
Also, You can return it. BB is great about that. I have used the ink in violet and sable. I orginally bought the violet gel since the girl used it on me, but I didn't care for the color and exchanged it for the sabel. I love it! I don't use it under my eyes, but I do line the upper lash line and it stays put for me all day. I haven't found anything that stays like the BB gel yet. Also, her shimmer bricks and lipsticks are great so you could always return for a product you want...
I like using my Lauren Hutton liner brush for a fine line near my lashes. I have found that powders and eye liner pencils just disappear on me after a few hours. I love my BB gel, but it just proves again that what is one gal's holy grail is anothers worst product. Sometimes I wish all skin types were the same and much of the guess work could then be eliminated! |

I've got one pot of this (in violet I think) and though I don't reach for it often I thought it was ok. I think I need a better brush to apply it with because I keep getting the problem where the line in lighter in the middle and more intense in color on the edges. I'm not sure why... |

I can't say I hate it, because it seems to perform very well in the evenings when it's a lot cooler. I guess it has to do with not just my skin type but also the climate - it's VERY hot and humid where I live! I don't use heavy eye cream, just a tiny bit of Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair, and that's only on the lower socket bone.
I'll keep it, and use it whenever I can. I just won't buy it again. |

Oh, to clarify, I don't have oily skin and I also don't line the lower lash line. So that might make a significant difference. Have you tried the Stila gel liner at all? |

Nope, but have been eyeing it, as well as their Kajal eyeliner. Have you tried the Kajal? |

I have the BB longwear gel liner in granite ink and sepia ink. Love 'em both, but find that they do rub off. Fix for that is to put a thin layer, use a powder shadow over it and then put another thin layer over that. THEN it really stays. The Chanel Aqua Crayon stays on pretty well, but again, best if you "fix" it with a bit of powder shadow. |

I got the BB gel liner and was rather disappointed in the staying power. Last year I got the Mac gel liners in Macviolet and Dipdown. They also didn't last on me and in fact first they smudged, then later in the day flaked. On a whim I tried the BB again and found it worked better that I remembered. I think it had dried out a bit in the pot and that helped it stay on longer. I'll have to try Margot's suggestion re layering. |

i also have used the BB in black ink, and I find that it works really well with the lower line. Basically i think it stays on the whole day without smudging into the corners of my eyes (unless i'm really tired that day and i keep yawning so my eyes are really watery)
as for the upper line, i think its better to go with a liquid liner if you don't like the smudgy effect...
i use the MAC liquid liner, and its very good IMO. Won't smudge at all, but can also come off with water, so if you do screw up with your line in the morning, you can just correct it with a cotton swab and a bit of water without having to wipe everything off. |

I have been wanting to get this for a couple of months but stil got lots at home so didnt wanna go near BB counters to check it out and still thinking which color should I get. And one thing that keeps me from not buying this is that the sale ladies will usually ask you to buy their brush as well .. lol I'm afraid i'll spend over my budget. |

MAC Fluidlines?
Anyways... for the last couple of days I've been giving the gel liner another try because I so wanted to like it, as I do with my other BB stuff. It seems that it does stay put, especially if you put on a thickish layer or if you layer it with powder eyeshadow like Margot suggested - just not on my bottom lash line (how do you put powder eyeshadow on your lower lid?)
I've found another use for it, though, that could make up for its disappointing staying power - that is to use it to intensify the powder shadow I use to fill up my bows! This helps if your brows are stupid sparse like mine and you don't want the shiny unnaturally flat brows at midday (ya I know, I'm still waiting for my brow and lash-growing efforts to bear its fruit, but in the mean time...). You have to be skillful at this though because you don't want your eyebrows to end up looking like it's tattooed on. The gel liner has a matte powder finish which makes it good for this sort of job. After I've filled in my brows with a dark shadow I'll carefully apply the gel liner in feather strokes only in the centre where your brows are naturally darker. After that you brush on a coat of mascara on your brows (yes, mascara) so that whatever hairs are there will will thicken and 'stand up' a bit and give that 3D effect!
This goes without saying that Purple Ink or other colours other than black or brown should not be used on the brows! |

Pumpingmummy, glad the tip helped. For powder shadow on the lower lashline, I use a flat oval brush and use the side of the brush to apply the shadow. Fyi, BB makes two fantastic liner shadows - Charcoal, which is coal black, and espresso, which is a beautiful dark dark brown. Perfect for layering over a gel liner for staying power. These are really dense and finely milled shadows. A little goes a long way! Thanks for the brow tip...mine are very sparse, so I'm always looking for ways to beef 'em up! |

God yeah I forgot when I don't use the gel, I do line my lower lashline (lower lid haha) with Espresso! And I have the definer brush to do that! When you said

I was imagining the kind you colour your lids with - you know, like a sweep of colour all across the lid!
Okay, got you now. Thanks again. Glad the brow tip helps. |

I've tried and brought BB black ink eyeliner, MAC black cream eyeliner, Shu uemura black drawing pencil......
smudge:
BB black ink
MAC black cream liner
Shu uemura (therefore, I would apply a layer of loose powder on the eyeliner.)
I've also tried Kose Luminous Liquid eyeliner. It won't smudge. I've double inside eyelid and oily. So, I have to use Clarins Fix Mascara to avoid the smudging of the mascara. I think Im an extreme case. |

I really like the smashbox eyeliner that you put on with a brush. I have issues with eyeliner running before I even leave the house, and when I use smashbox it doesn't run. |

Have any of you ever used Liner Last by English Ideas? I got mine at Sephora and it lasts forever and really works. They also have a web site where they have it as part of a special with their lip last, and brow last plus a lipstick and eyeshadow all for $30. I have only tried the liner. It might leave a light sheen but for me nothing has ever worked and a little bit of sheen is better than not having any eyeliner left after an hour. It has kept my liner in place for over 12 hours. |

bought my 1st BB gel liner - Ivy about 2 months back but only started using it 2 wks ago. now i can fully understand the rave of it by the many ladies out there.
comparing MAC FL with BB Gel Liner, MAC win in terms of price (MAC is cheaper). other then that, i think BB is really good.
however, my heart never goes to either of them. my heart goes to Kate Gel Liner. it is an even cheaper alternative, a drugstore brand from Japan. for the price of 1 BB gel liner, you can buy at least 2 Kate Gel Liner. whats more? Kate gel liner comes with an eyeliner brush enclose in the box, which make it even more convenient to use and that you do not need to buy a brush separately.
texture and lasting of Kate Gel Liner is just as good. i will most certainly replace Kate Gel Liner if i have finish using the one that i have. |

I have found my perfect combo of the new Cover Girl Line Exact (marker/liquid) for upper lid (doesn't budge or smudge) and Paula's Choice Gel Liner for under eyes(not as creamy as other gel liners, but again doesn't budge or smudge all day). I am really liking the Sonia Kashuka (sp?) slant eyeliner brush from Target ($7.00) for under eye liner application. |

not sure is it because i always wear UDPP underneath hence none of the liner (MAC/BB/Kate) smudge on me. maybe you might want to try that. |

I absolutely love the BB gel liners! For me, this is the one liner that doesn't wear off or "slide" during the day. At first, I didn't use the BB liner brush since I have a drawer full of various types of brushes and thought one of them would work, but nothing was quite right. I broke down and bought the BB brush (2 of them) and the liner is much easier for me to put on now. |

I have the liner in sepia and a violet-type color (can't remember the name off-hand). With the sepia I put some dry eyeliner over it - Lauren Hutton from the mineral line is great. Together they seem to hold up pretty well - |
