Okay, I am one of those mud mask junkie and had been eyeing, nay, craving for moor mud mask and finally got my hands on this one. My skin type is combination, probably more on drier side of combo.
Pevonia Aromatic Moor comes in a 500g plastic bottle, packaging not pretty and difficult to dispense but it's what's on the inside that counts, right.
Bottle says to use it in bath but Pevonia rep assures me that the product is used as a body mask and body wrap in Pevonia spas and can be used as a detoxifying facial mask if you can get past the smell.
Benefits of Moor Mud: Anti-inflammatory, astringent, detoxifying
Recommended for: acne, eczema, psoriasis, rheumatism and arthritis. Remedy for dry hair and reduce appearance of cellulite.
Ingredient: Natural moor blackmud, pinus sylvestris (pine leaf) oil. (thumbs on on minimal ingredients!)
Scent: Very strong in pine but has a faint earthy (which I assume is the mud) smell.
Colour: Wickedly black (actually, it's a very dark chocolate black, almost black)
Texture: Gritty but spreads nicely and doesn't feel scratchy inspite of the grit. In fact I hope that the grits are vegetation (fingers crossed no carcass!) that has been fermenting away for centuries in the moor mud.
Verdict: Frankly, I am impressed with this moor mud. I loved the strong fresh pine leaf scent. It felt cool and tingly on my skin.
Washing this mask off is no easy task, you have to be prepared for the invevitable mess all over the wash basin, I recommend the shower, if possible. And a face towel handy to lessen the mess.
But the result, the softest skin I have ever achieved from a mud mask!
Skin feels very clean but not dry (like the effect I get from most mud mask, Bioelements Restorative Clay, while excellent in sucking out congestion but leaves skin parched comes to mind).
My skin was looking dull, probably from the dry winter climate in Australia right now. Skin overall looks brighter, not AHA peel bright, but certainly it has produced more glow. I have noticed that my pores look cleaner (pore size still the same but then I don't expect miracles).
I will definitely keep using this one as a face mask. I have used this as a body mask and while I loved the results (again, very soft skin)it's not something I would recommend unless you want to be cleaning your shower soon after. Overall, very happy with the purchase. |
