I decided to try this after reading a very brief comment someone made here to someone else's very brief review The product intrigued me and the fact that someone said they had used it for a few years I thought "well, it must be OK if they used it that long"...
So, let me start by immediately giving this product (out of a possible 5)
I have been using this for the last six weeks and I have to say it is one product that I don't think will be leaving my routine any time soon!!
Price & Packaging:
I got mine from Sephora when they had the 20% off sale, so it was a BARGAIN. Regular price at Sephora is about $65 I think. Size 30ml / 1 oz in a blue color glass jar with metal pump top. Simple but beautiful packaging.
Texture & Smell:
They call this a dry oil. I find that one pump is more than enough to do the face, neck and decollage. It absorbs quite quickly and thoroughly into the skin. It has a very light fragrance, not one that I would say is beautiful, but very natural and it kinds of grows on you. after a while.
Useage & Results:It is only used at night (eye area to be avoided the box says), on clean skin and under additional moisturizer (if necessary). Many nights I find this is more than enough on its own, but sometimes I put a light night cream on top if the air is particularly dry.
In the last 6 weeks I have had a marked improvement in the texture and glow of my skin (as mentioned in another post this resulted in a friend I had not seen for a while commenting on how beautiful my skin looked). I also started using Vit. C + Vit. B serum (cellex-c) during the day and I think the combination of the two has been just remarkable. I have also noticed that my skin looks so much better when I wake up in the morning. My skin does not look as tired or drawn; rather, it looks plump and moist with a nice glow.
Gab from the box (about the product): Immortelle grows abundantly on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is exceptionally long-lived; it never wilts, even after being picked. Used for centuries, Immortelle flowers produce an essential oil that stimulates circulation and enhances cell renewal.
Elixir is a dry oil of 100% vegetal origin. Immortelle essential oil, combined with other plant oils and vitamin E, improves skin's texture and enhances skin's regeneration.
When applied the skin is immediately softer and re-invigorated. The face will retain its freshness and youthful appearance.
Apply every evening on the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Can be used on its own or for maximum effect before applying the Precious Cream or the Essential Lotion.
Gab on the box about "Effectiveness Tested":
* After 4 weeks, 38% in the reduction of the total surface of the wrinkles
* Regenerated and restructured skin: 89% of women
* Fresher and younger skin: 91% of the women
* Firmer skin: 94% of the women
* Smoother skin: 95% of the women
* Softer and suppler skin: 100% of the women.
Tolerance dermatologically tested.
I would agree with the above 150%. So why does it get and not 5? Well, there always has to be room for improvement!! It is not like it has turned me into someone with porcelain doll totally flawless skin (I mean, is there ANYTHING out there that will do that in 6 weeks?), but it it gets a solid because it has been very effective (it does what it says it will do) and if it maintains this level of effectiveness I will be a very happy camper. I am just hoping that I will be able to use it through Tokyo's hot and humid summer (though we always sleep with aircon on dry air throughout the night)

i tried this sometime last year, along with their eye cream, and moisturiser. the elixir was my favourite out of those products. my only quibble was that if i pumped out too much, my skin looked oily, but the fault lay with my application rather than the product.
i returned to the decleor neroli oil after i finished the bottle, but see myself alternating between the two. have you tried any other products in this range? |

No, I had never had any interest in L'Occitane at all. They sell it on the shopping channels here in Japan (though not the Immortelle range I think) and when glancing in their shop in Brisbane once nothing really appealed to me.
I actually think it was your post I read and then looked at the product and was interested and then another member said they had used it for a few years and that made me want to try it.
First night I did two pumps and yes, it was way too much. I do the one quick pump and then quickly spread that between my two palms and then quickly pat them over my face and neck, followed by a gentle upward pressing. I used to use Camellia oil, but I feel this is absorbed even better and is having better results than the Camellia oil.
Now I use camellia oil for hand and foot treatments and to put on my face, arms, and hair during long flights. |

For anyone in the UK, there's a L'Occitane outlet shop at Bicester Village - http://www.bicestervillage.com
They have some excellent bargains there. In fact, last time I went they had quite a few of the Immortelle Products in stock on special offer - although you usually have to buy a multipack of 2 or so items.
Wish I'd bought some now! I also wish I was able to visit there more than once a year.
BTW There are also Penhaligon's and Molton Brown outlets at Bicester. |

I just noticed that Sephora has this listed as "new". It does have new packaging (aluminium vs. the old purple/blue bottle) but I am wondering if there is any change to ingredients. Anyone know? |

It didn't used to be a "dry oil." When the range first came out a few years back, the Elixir felt and smelled quite different. I have to say, where I loved the original incarnation, I bought the new, dry oil version and returned it.
It felt like Crisco on my skin compared to the old one and smelled somehow... burnt. I thought maybe I got a bad bottle at Sephora, but, after getting another one from an actual L'Occitane shop, I think it's just the new formula
Glad you like it, however! I'm sure it's just my weirdness at the changes that are keeping me from judging it fairly. |

I must be missing something here but the blurb talks about Immortelle and Immortelle flowers and how good they are but this ingredient doesn't appear to be in the ingredient list??? |

Hi,
Just thought I would weigh in...
helichrysum italicum is immortelle, and it is a great essential oil for bruises.
I just looked online and it is said to help the blood to be reabsorbed into the tissue, does anyone know if that means it would help with these pesky spider veins? If so, I'm getting some!
This looks like a lovely formulation, though, if I come across it I'll try some!

Thanks so much for the review, tiger_tim. Like you, I never gave L'Occitane a second glance as far as skincare interest. However, recently, I am interested in the Immortelle line. I want to sample the Brightening Serum and the VPC, along with this Elixir. |
