So, I got a sample of this stuff with my last Best Bath Store order. The ingredients are nice, and I like that it's unscented since I'm sensitive to a lot of smells. I was skeptical that a product could be used for both face and body, but I've used it a few times on my face since I got it and it was lovely--- soaked right in, and not a single clogged pore or blemish. However, the real rave is for what happened when I used this stuff on my hands! The temperature here in Cleveland dropped drastically over the past few days, and we got hit with a lot of snow. Practically overnight, my hands went from being fine to being so chapped and scaly they were almost bleeding. It was unsightly, not to mention terribly uncomfortable, and I applied lotion day in and day out, but still my hands were chapped. Then on a whim this morning I smoothed in some of this lotion. Literally within seconds, my hands were restored to their former glory, and what's more, they've been fine all day! I'm ordering two bottles of this stuff to make sure I don't run out! It's perfect for DH too--- he gets really dry skin in the winter and needs a moisturizer for both his body and face, and he prefers something unscented. The price is $15 for 8 oz, which I think is very reasonable. Another home run for the Best Bath Store!
By the way, they've added a lot of new gift sets, so be sure to check em out as I think they could be a good way to try a lot of their products and save some money. Also, I emailed Justin the owner and told him how much I'm enjoying his products, and he sent me this code:
ilovebestbathstore
It's good for 15% off any order. |

Thanks for the review! Best bath store sounds amazing and I am still waiting for the acne gel
Just wondering about the lotion, is it greasy and heavy? If used on face, what type of skin do you think it would suit? Thanks Liz! |

It's really not heavy or greasy at all, IMO! When I used it on my face I smoothed in just a dab while my face was still damp from Zenbiotic phyto moisture and it was instantly absorbed--- no greasiness. If your face is extremely oily it may be too much for it, but I think it would be a good winter facial moisturizer for just about any skin type since it doesn't clog pores, and a great year-round body moisturizer. HTH! |

A little update-- I ordered a full-size bottle of this stuff, and two lip balms since I've been wanting to try them since vonstella raved about them. Reviews will be forthcoming, but I just wanted to say that I got 7 huge samples with my order! My goodness, I'll be playing with them for the rest of the day! |

hi liz, thanks for another great review. i just signed up for the store and have yet to pick my samples.
i saw this lotion too and thought the same thing you did about it being used for the face and body. I might add that and the acne serum since it's getting a ton of raves. have you tried their shampoo? the ingredients look good to me.
TIA |

I have to say, i LOVE this lotion! The texture is light yet moisturizes wonderfully and the smell is just so beautiful. Liz, what is the main smell to this lotion, i am just so attracted to it!

Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying it too! Actually, it didn't have much of a scent to me, although I do detect a faint aloe-ish note, probably because it's aloe-based. Maybe that's what we're smelling? It's gotten cold here again, so I'm glad I have a full-sized bottle on hand!^-^ |

liz--i smell shea i think. my * spam alert * to the smell got so bad that i put the sample in my purse to carry around so i can smell the lotion when i am in class .
vonstella--I am also using the lipbalm and i have to say i like it a lot. i got one for my boyfriend too since it isn't a "girly" lipbalm and apparently he was embarassed to carry his little orange flavored lip balm pot around!
you should definitely try the lotion, i want to place an order VERY soon, i am wondering what else i should try next.
btw, i love the containers that best bath uses for the acne serum and the lotion, so darling and a generous size too.
thanks for the recommendations ladies! |

liz - i was just wondering how this lotion compares to zenbiotic's body milk moisturizer? i'm looking for something to help with my perpetually dry hands and legs |

Sark, I consider ZB's Body Milk more of a body treatment or serum than actual moisturizer. If you are suffering from dry skin, I think this lotion would help a lot. At one point this winter I had really been neglecting my hands and they were so dry that they were cracking and bleeding--- not cool! However, after one application of this lotion they started to heal up, so I was very impressed--- that's when I ordered the full size bottle.^-^
Like you, I also suffer from seriously dry legs. This lotion definitely helps with that, but something else I like to do to mix it up is spray on Burt's Bees Baby Bee oil onto my legs at the end of my shower (it comes in a glass bottle, but I pour it into a spray bottle), and then after I dry off I top it off with the Baby Bee lotion. Not only do I smell good enough to eat afterwards (DH LOVES it when I wear the Baby Bee stuff...^-^), but the combination keeps my legs soft and glowy. HTH! |

That's right--- the Buttermilk lotion and the Apricot oil. FANTASTIC combo for dry skin! Just make sure you put the oil on while your skin is still damp (Sometimes I put it on and rub it in while the shower is still running, sometimes I apply it as soon as I turn the shower off), and then after you've buffed it in with a towel a little bit you can seal it in with the Buttermilk lotion. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think!^-^ |

I think the ZB bottle should work fine--- right now I'm just using a generic plastic trigger bottle. Let me know how it goes! |

Liz--I mix them together in a bottle, the oil sinks in so quickly this way, just a tip! |

vonstella - you mix the oil and lotion together? do you put it into a spray bottle or just a regular one? |

I'm excited to try both this afternoon So you rub the oil in with a regular bath towel right out of the shower, or do you spray on, let sit, and then rub in a bit later? I'm also just a bit concerned that if I use the body oil before I finish my face routine out of the shower, that I'll transfer the body oil to my face and breakout . . . |

I use about an oz or two of the lotion and then add the oil right into the lotion bottle, you just gotta shake really, really well. Best used on wet or damp skin too! |

First of all, Vonstella that's a really cool idea--- I'm looking forward to trying it!!
Next, to answer your question, sark, What I do is put the oil on my legs (and any other dry parts of my body like feet, etc), and then I smooth it in with my hands a bit. Then when I'm drying my body off I buff my legs a bit with a towel, and then top it all off with lotion. Once that's taken care of, I actually wash my hands (to get rid of any traces of lotion or oil) and go about my nightly face care routine. The of course, once all my face and hair stuff is all taken care of, I re-apply lotion to just my hands right before I climb into bed. HTH! |

********2nd REVIEW in this thread (ya know, instead of starting a new thread...)********
I found this lotion to be non-greasy and it absorbed very quickly. I have used this on my hands and body and feel that is a moderately hydrating moisture. My hands get VERY dry especially in the winter. My skin is also very sensitive so I always have to be careful with what ingredients I apply to my skin. My skin really liked this product (no reactions! yay!) but it didn’t seem to moisturize my hands and legs as much as I would like it to . Maybe if I mix in a bit more shea butter...
The scent is very different to me (I am very sensitive to scents... meaning I also have a good sense of smell so many times something will smell stronger to me than to someone else). To me, it has a very slight patchouli-citrus scent to it. It’s very subtle but I notice it even long after I have applied it.
This is a great, natural, gentle lotion and I totally recommend it!
Ingredients:
Lavender Hydrosol, Organic Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Beeswax, Irish Moss, Xanthum Gum, Calendula Extract & Optiphen |
