I heard all the rave about emu oil like how easily it absorbs to the skin, greaseless etc. I bought Dr. Emu and it's so greasy and doesn't absorb easily. So disappointed. |

is it pure emu oil? my friend used it for a while and she said that her emu oil practically evaporates/absorbs completely when she rubs it between her hands before applying it to her face. |

It's pure emu oil. However, I did not rub it between my hands before applying. Maybe that's the problem. |

Or, it just may not be for you. I tried emu oil shortly after hearing about all the raves here on EDS and found it wanting. It didn't penetrate, left skin feeling greasy, not to mention the concept of rubbing bird fat on my face was just appalling! I used up the rest on my cuticles [which it didn't help] and vowed never to buy it again. |

Dremu Oil sold here at EDS is what I use. It is expensive but does sink right in, clear white in color and triple refined. Dremu lasts me 3 months (longer during summer). Most Emu oils I used prior to Dremu were heavy and greasy. My skin is combo but more oily in summer and dry with oil T Zone in winter. HTHs |

I’ve been using emu for a few years and love it, just bought another litre in fact However, I rarely leave it on my face during the day as I’m also worried about looking greasy. At night I put some in the palm of my hand and give it a spray or two of water (actually I normally use green tea) and I find it sinks in better than just applying it straight. Maybe try mixing it with a bit of water? |

My suggestion would be to drop the EMU oil and go with Macadamia Oil. Macadamia Oil is botanical and natural. It has a fatty acid profile very similar to that of human skin. So, You will find that it rubs in very easily and is not greasy at all. In addition, Emu oil is has more than 15% polyunsaturated fat which means it is inherently unstable and will go rancid (smell bad) rather quickly. Macadamia on the other hand is inherently stable and will not go rancid or smell over a very, very long time period.
The choice is clear (and quickly penetrating). Go with Macadamia Oil for all your skin moisturization needs.

I almost forgot about macadamia oil, thanks for the reminder John - I used the last of this oil I kept on hand for cooking in a small batch of DIY after bath oil a few months ago and almost forgot how quickly it penetrated. Meant to stock up on some more, but holding off until I deplete my current warehouse of avocado, apricot and almond oils...
How well does macadamia work as a facial oil for oily skin? I can use jojoba and camellia oil without any problems.

Athena123, I use both jojoba and macadamia in all of the formulas that I make. Many of them are anti-wrinkle or anti-age formulas for the face and eyes. They penetrate well so they don't make an oily face problem any worse that's for sure.

Thanks for the suggestions. My face is on the verge of breakout lately that's why I'm scared to use the emu oil again. Macademia, hmmmm, I like to eat it. |
