I used the previous formula of LaurEss foundation and I liked it a lot, it was very soft and gave a soft look to the skin, not glowy, not matte, not sparkly. It was easy to build if you needed coverage but it could be applied lightly for sheer coverage or built up for more. I did find it could look a little dry under my eyes though.
As for the new formula, I REALLY like it. It has more coverage but is still flexible, so I use less with this formula and get more coverage, but can still get a sheer layer if I want. It covers my "problem areas" much better then the original formula. I have red acne marks that are all but impossible to see now! I am amazed. I am also amazed how soft and creamy it feels. I thought the original version was soft and creamy, but not compared to this. It is really nice on my face and doesn't feel dry and tight even though it has more Zinc Oxide in it then the original. I also notice the area under my eyes doesn't look crepey (which is a miracle). This has a slight bit more glow then the original, but I would still call it matte, I look more awake or alive, lol. It also blends into my skin really well. When I first apply it I let it sit for about a minute and then it's like it just melts into my skin and looks fabulous! Plus when I wash it off at night my skin feels silky and healthy like I wasn't wearing any makeup (and am a young again, LOL)!
I am so thrilled with this! I also like that the full size foundation has more product in it then the original and costs less. With more product and needing to use less for the results I want, this is a going to last me a long time once I order the full size. I think Lauress has a real winner with this formula. |

Thanks for the great review.
I tried Lauress's previous formula last year and at first I was in love - but then, the dreaded bumps popped up all over my face so the mica may have been my downfall there.....Lauren is so nice over there, great customer service, and she had some gorgeous colors and nice lippies too (I still have her little samples in my pocketbook for quick touchups). I bet she'll do well with this new line. She has a great following.

If you try the new formula let us know if the lower mica percentage helps. I have been reading about Zinc Oxide vs. Mica Vs. Titanium Dioxide as primary ingredients and I find the whole discussion fascinating. I have never had a reaction to any MMU based on a single ingredient (as far as I know) so I would love to hear if you have better luck with this version. |

Just got my new samples from Lauress last week. Her new line is amazing. I love the look and coverage, yet it still feels wonderful, not drying or chalky. I can wear it all day and never know it's there. Yesterday at breakfast one of my friends actually asked me what I was wearing because I looked so good. Her new colors are very simlar to her old line so I had no trouble finding a new foundation that was perfect. I highly recommend it. |

just got my samples yesterday from lauress.
i've only used it today but they felt much lighter and silkier than alima's and signature minerals', the two other brands i'd tried this week.
it could also be because i received my new ME kabuki brush at the same time and that helps??
i'll report back in a few days to see if i still think the same. |

Going to throw in my 2 cents. I've never tried the old formula so I can't compare but this new formula goes on smooth and silky and leaves me LESS dry than Alima which means it leaves me with a more natural finish (Alima can sometimes excentuate my flakies and makes me look more powdered). The coverage is about the same except I think Alima might give a bit more coverage. Basically this is sheer coverage, the buildability is the same as Alima which in my case I don't find it all that buildable, no matter how many layers you'll only end up with semi-medium coverage, the only difference is more layers mean more likely to experience cakiness. This might be a tad lighter than Alima on my skin but more or less texture and coverage are about the same. So I do highly recommend this if Alima didn't work for you or vice versa. I also find Lauress to have a better color selection and explains the color a lot more clearly than most companies. For example they have a color of the base + the color of the undertones, like neutral with yellow undertones (ivory). And that makes it so much easier when I am trying to find a match and I think I've got it with ivory, though I have yet to try my tan/fawn samples. Their shades run true to their description too which is SO hard to find nowadays with MMU companies and their pictures are much better than most. I've had a problem with MMU colors running to light to their descriptions causing me to start thinking I have darker skin than I do having to use some light medium shades which were even a tiny hint too light (Lumiere). Well thank god for Lauress because I got ONE sample in the radiant shade (light-medium) and it is a bit TOO DARK for me, gives me a tanned look!
Anyways, I think I have the bumpy problem with this too as well as Alima but I'm not sure which I prefer better, Alima leaves a matter finish which I like but Lauress is lighter and less drying for me. However apart from the foundation I found a wonderful hidden gem which is the LAURESS CORRECTORS (CONCEALERS!!) I got 2 samples - Vanilla and Sand (I'm sure Sand would be too dark but I had the problem with Beige in Alima being 10x too light for me which was so weird). Well as I presumed Vanilla is PERFECT for my skin and it is the ONLY MMU concealer I have ever used that ACTUALLY BLENDS well enough that it covers and does NOT look like a different color blotch afterwards. It blends so perfectly and covers SO well without enhancing the flakiness of particular blemishes that are in the process of drying up. I am definitely ordering the full size on this! Just when I gave up MMU concealers! I also ordered a sample of their green color corrector which I don't think I'll even need to use because the Vanilla itself covers up redness perfectly as well!
On a side note I do find Lauress a bit on the pricy side of MMU companies however I really do think they are worth it with their nicer packaging (yeah same jars but the font of their name is way nicer than most!) and high quality MMU. |

Hi. I just wanted to add to this review of the LaurEss foundation. I have worn this line for a while. I just ran out of my foundation and a new formula came out. I have to admit, I was a little concerned. I loved my old foundation and I was out. But, I ordered my 4 free samples and gave it a try. I am SO HAPPY with the new formula and I was able to find the perfect shade! It goes on very smooth and the coverage is perfect! It covers all of my flaws, but yet, I can still see my skin. I apply it using their Kabuki brush. I have a friend that uses the flat top brush for stronger covereage. I haven't tried that, as I find the coverage I get is perfect! |

carol - it took a few days for my paypal invoice and another few days for my shipped out confirmation so I don't think you should worry too much. Most companies aren't able to send a paypal invoice immediately, even Alima which is considered to be faster takes 1-2 days to email me my invoice and I'm only in Canada. I don't think you should expect an IMMEDIATE response from any company as that would be impossible. It's also still Sunday (you probably ordered during the weekend) so you'll probably get your invoice sometime next week. Email them if you don't get it by Friday (or Saturday Australia time). |

I'm not sure on the top of my head but the foundation is usually 10g in 30g jar (or something like that as with all other MMU companies). Why don't you check for yourself at http://www.lauress.com |

I have something to add about this new foundation. I think that the SPF factor in the new forumla is better than before! I just sat out in the direct sunlight for over an hour. I have pale ivory skin that is very prone to burning and freckling. The old formula would prevent the burning, but I would still freckle. I just came inside and my skin looks great! No burn and no freckles! I know, some people think that freckles are cute, but for me it is sun damage and I do not want that! I am in my 30's and I still get carded. I want to keep it that way! |

I just have to agree with makeupDiva! I was out in the sun all afternoon and not a single bit of color on my face! Amazing stuff! Plus after wearing this for the past few weeks I love it even more! The Lauress Elemental foundation is doing wonders for my skin! not a single new "blemish" has appeared and my skin feels very smooth and soft, not dry and flakey like it usually does. This is especially amazing since when the seasons change my skin usually has a hissy fit. The weather here has done a complete turn around and my skin is still happy as can be! Lauress is definitely my HG of all HGs!
I have started sampling tons of their eyeshadows and blushes as well and have yet to be disappointed! can't recommend them enough! |

I just noticed your screen name! LOL - very similar to mine. You can be the babe and I will be the diva!
I totally agree with you! The more I wear this new makeup, the more I love it. I did not get much sleep last night and so I had to use a little extra under the eyes to conceal. I didn't really pay much attention to my makeup until I got work and I was under the harsh fluorescent lights. I was amazed!!! My eyes looked bright and my undereyes didn't get that crepey (I don't think I spelled that right - LOL) look on my thin skin.
Love, love, love this foundation!!! |

Have you ventured into the shadow and blush realm yet? What about primers and finishers? I love the Finishing Touch. I have moody skin when the weather changes so my dry skin suddenly gets oily., then I switch to Ultimatte finish and it is awesome!! Makes Mineral Veil seem like chunky chalk in comparison! so silky and smooth and such a nice soft focus!
I just got a sample of the Gem liner in Fervor and it is an amazing deep brown with golden highlights. Looks so great wetlined! I also love the Gem Light in Radiant, this is my go-to color when I am too lazy to do makeup.
There are so many great colors I would love to hear what you have tried! |

Would like to say, after trying more with Lauress I'd have to conclude I prefer Alima. Lauress gives me less coverage and enhances my flakies more. Plus I get a bad case of tiny bumps really quickly which goes away when I wash my face. This is worse than Alima in that respect. I will however keep on using the Vanilla Concealer because I do think it's the best MMU concealer out there and it covers my flakies rather than enhance them like the foundation does. |

Thanks for the comparison, I was trying to decide whether to get the Alima or the Lauress, but Alima seems to be more popular with most people.

I am really surprised that you had some problems. Your message may be lost somewhere is cyperspace! I have always received great customer service. I had some questions and I got a response directly from the owner! Lauren is so nice and helpful. If you contacted her, I wouldn't be surprised if she would still allow you to get your samples. |
