I've been thinking about the Julie Hewett Omit pencil for a while now and finally broke down and ordered it. It's a light peachy colored pencil with multiple uses--as a concealer, as a reverse lip liner, and as an eyeliner.
I've used it for all three with mixed impressions. As a concealer pencil, it's pretty good for tiny flaws and discolorations. But the color doesn't blend well with my natural coloring, so I can only use it when I am planning to wear foundation with reasonable coverage over it. It'll definitely go into my travel makeup bag, since it's so convenient to have a pencil concealer instead of a cream or powder one. As a reverse lipliner, I didn't like it at all. It creates a pronounced pale peach line which you then have to cover up completely with the lipstick you're using. But if you take your lipstick all the way over the edge of the line, it'll feather anyway. Which rather defeats the purpose of a reverse lipliner. So for me, that use is a no-go. But I do like it as an eyeliner to line the inner rim of the lower lashes. Once or twice before I've tried the "trick" of using a white liner to line the lower lash rim to create a more wide-awake look, but to me it looked fake and obvious. The Omit is perfect though, since it is a little brighter and lighter than my natural color. It doesn't scream eyeliner, but it looks really pretty. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to buy a pencil liner just for that purpose, but as long as I have it, I'm happy to use it. |
