Okay, I got my Facemate in the mail today and needless to say the instructions for use are very sparse. I'm completely lost on how to use it and what settings I should be using.
All I heard is not to use 1MHz on the face.
Okay, I'm wanting to use the 3MHz setting but there's 8 power levels and the manual says to use 1-5 for the face - what do you ladies use?
When do you use the negative ion, and how is it used? (with moisturizer, gel, etc?)
And finally.. the gel. Do you have to use the Facemate with an ultrasound conductive gel, or is any gel okay (aloe vera gel, hyaluronic acid serum, seamollient/sea kelp bioferment)?
Oh yes, and do you cleanse your face before using the facemate?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm confused. =\ |

Hi Maiea - This is how I use my facemate:
Negative ion - 2 minutes per section of face with cleanser on (spritz with water to keep moist)
3mhz ultrasound(power to 5) - have aloe vera gel with actives - 3 minutes per section of face (spritz with water to keep moist) microcurrent instead of ultrasound couple times per week - 3 minutes per section of face with aloe vera gel (spritz with water to keep moist) I have red LED's on for all cycles.

Thank you so much DiPhx!
I have a quick stupid question for you - what is the difference in the microcurrent and negative ion settings? When I turn it on and hit sleect... the "e-" is the negative ion? So is microcurrent the one setting where there's a "L" "M" "H"?
Thank you. |

Hi Maiea - Yes, the cleansing ion is "e" and the microcurrent is L, M and H. Make sure you use the big round disc for the microcurrent. HTH - DiPhx |

I think I've been using mine the wrong way, then. The instructions certainly were vague. Is it the small disk for ultrasounding the face, and the big disk for everything else for the face? I've been sticking to the small one, but I was wondering about it. Thanks. This is a fabulous little gadget. I love it especially after a chemical peel. It really helps to get all the peely skin loosened up and empties those clogged pores. |

I did a giant mistake last night. I used aloe vera gel instead of ultrasound gel, and when I finished my 15 mins of 3MHZ at power level 3... my face was beet red and hot to touch (after a 1/2 hr of frantically spraying my face with Avene mist and fanning it it calmed down to normal)! I'm still trying to figure out what I did wrong, but I suspect the aloe vera gel, it's a lot runnier (Garden of Wisdon's 99.9% AV gel) than the ultrasound gel - I'm taking a wild guess it allowed the vibrations to conduct "better" since the viscosity of the aloe vera is much less.
So I'll re-try this in a couple days, put the power level down to 1 and start at 5 mins and see what happens because I'd rather use aloe vera since it's supposed to be better for skin than u/s gel. I suspect on my next GoW order I'll be trying their aloe vera jelly which is supposed to be a thick consistency.
DiPhx - thank you for answering my questions!
emilyruth - I wish I knew too! DiPhx says big disk for the micro-current. As far as I know it's the small disk for the 3MHz and big disk for the 1MHZ (not for facial use!), but I wish I knew which disk to use for the negative ion. |

Hi everyone - The way I found out how to use the Facemate was to contact several vendors who were selling the Facemate. I also contacted the vendor I bought it from several times and kept asking questions. Here goes -
negative ion - small disc (and my face feels much smoother after the negative ion)
3 mhz - small disc microcurrent - large disc
1mhz - large disc
All the pamphlets tell you not to use the 1 Mhz on the face but to use the 3 Mhz. I do use aloe vera gel with actives in it and spritz water when it gets dry. It's a fun little gadget and helps - I wish I had time to use it more!!

DiPhx - What actives do you use in your aloe vera gel.?
Any other recommendations - anyone? |

Hi Stovetop - The actives I use in my aloe vera
gel are glucosamine, carnosine, and hylauronic acid. I mix up the hylauronic acid first with a little distilled water and then add the ge,
and finally the other 2 actives. You may want to experiment with some other actives down the road - I may try niamicide next time. This way
the actives are getting penetrated into your skin, Hope this helps - DiPhx |

Hi - I just wanted to make a note - I've successfully used the Facemate with Aloe Vera JELLY and not had my face overheat!
I think the key is to have a thick viscous gel as a "padding" on your face. The Aloe Vera gel I used in the past (see a few posts above) was to thin and runny, and I think the ultrasound "overmassaged" my face.
As well, due to lack of time and fear of overdoing the ultrasound, I'm using just the 10min timer, instead of the default 15min. |

I just got my Facemate - how do I tell if it is working on my face? I feel nothing, no heat, no vibrations (massage) but can detect a "mosquito" like sound on the Ultrasonic wave setting. Is this a dud? |

Hi stovetop - If the red LED is working and you hear the buzzing, it probably is working. When I feel heat is at the end of the ultrasound when the 15 minutes are up. if the digital numbers are working, the mahine is probably working. It takes a while to figure out how to use it. Again, witht he ultrasound, it has to be on for a while to feel the heat. Good luck -DiPhx |

I bought Facemate about month ago, but I used it just few times.
I've got suspisious , when I didn't find manufacturer's name on the package.
I googled sellers of Facemate and sent to each of them email asking to provide more info about manufacturer.
The best I've got "it's health and beauty company from Taiwan".
That's all.
I'm scary to use it on my face as I'm not sure that device doing what it promised to do.
Am I paranoid? |

Thanks for reply, lunarmm.
Alibaba site doesn't help much. Once I asked them about manufacturer and they never responded.
Anyway, after massive search of the internet I found the manufacturer:
DRACO TECH INTERNATIONAL CORP
No 2,2nd Floor Fu Qui 1 Rd, Peitou, Taipei, TW, Taiwan
Phone:886-2-28201487
However, they site does not list Facemate in the catalog. I sent them email, hope to get info from them.
And about being paranoid - how do i know that this gadget is working at all? I can't feel the waves And who knows the real output - 3MHz or 1MHz it's impossible to check. For me at least. |

TanyaB -
Sorry, I was out of town for 5+ days...
Are you saying you don't trust that the output is 1mhz and 3mhz when you select it and your selections shows up on the LED? Other than trusting the readout on the LED, confirming true mhZ would be hard for a consumer. You would probably have to take it to a scientist/technician to measure the actual mhz.
Are you using conductive gel or water mist?
The point of ultrasound is that you don't feel it - the vibrations are at a deeper cellular level. If you put the ultrasound against wetness you may see the water bouncing off your skin. Same with ionizing -- you may not feel it but it is a different electrical charge that helps clean your skin. |

lunarmm,
I'm using it with pure Aloe Vera Gel or Conductive Gel from the package.
BTW, what the difference , if I use water mist? I wasn't sure, if I can apply anything else, but mist sounds much better idea as I have to re-apply gel every few minutes (it gets too sticky).
Thanks. |

Perhaps use the aloe vera or conductive gel and keep moist by misting with water like Avenue thermal water or other... |

Hey... after owning the facemate for a while now, I do have to say I don't use the ultrasound for my face anymore, but I still use the minus ion (makes my skin smooth) and the mixed current. I'm kind of scared now to use the ultrasound on my face. I only ever used the 3MHz on my face, but I swear I could see sagging the next day when I used it... and this scared me off from using the ultrasound function. |

Interesting... I don't know. One thing with ultrasound for face - make sure you are always moving it (not settling it on an area) and use the timer to keep track of time alotted. |

Yeah, I'm really not sure why I'm seeing what I'm seeing, and I'm not delusional because my sister had commented to me as well "why does your face look kind of like it's sagging today?"
When I did use the ultrasound I did keep moving it and used it for the 15min timer on the facemate. I really don't know why my face did what it did with the ultrasound. |

Please I would like to know if the Facemate ES 330 is cordless or not? Some pictures show it with cord some without and for what exactly is the microwave good? Do you use microwave before or after the ultrasound?
Thank you for the answer

Hi franzika - the Facemate has a power adaptor.
It's a great little gadget and I use it about once a week for ultrasound and then use my
AA lightstim LED about 2 times a week. At least this routine seems to keep things stable. Good luck - diphx |

Dear DiPhx,
Sorry to ask again. I am German and perhaps do missunderstand. Does it means when you use it it is cordless?
Thank you,
Franziska |
