I came across this forum, have been reading it for the past few days and am hooked. I am 47 with dry, fair skin complexion and concerned with the usual wrinkles and hyperpigmented spots that come with aging. I am waiting for my new Vitamin C products including sunscreen to arrive and waiting for everyones opinion on the alphaderm product. My question for now is I am ready to try a new moisturizer and have really just stuck to department store brands in the past. Any recommendations for a moisturizer for dry over 40 skin? Thanks!

I am not certain what your price-range is like, so I will name a few good ones for your skin type, with a variety of price ranges:

1. Cellcosmet Ultra Vital
2. Valmont Regenerating Radiance Cream
3. Phytomer Ogenage Global Cellular Renewal
Anti-Aging Cream
4. Dr. Irena Eris Fortessimo Day & Night
Creams.
5. Kinerase Cream
6. Orlane B-21 Anti-Fatigue Recovery Care

Thanks. I am open in terms of price range. I should have mentioned I do use Renova at night if that makes a difference.

Hi Gaby -

I too have just passed the big 4-0 and wanted a change for the better in my moisturizer after having used Lancome for a bit....I'm using the Skinceuticals Emolliance now - Very nice line of products. I also use the sunscreen and their overnight cream!!! I think all three cost me about $120, but I love 'em all!!!

Maria : )

my Mom is 45 years old and she has realy dry skin her wrinkles is visible noticable with sunburn, taking good care her orchids. The dermatologies in Philippines recommended her, to use Vitamin E capsule to her face as nigthly regimen, and cetaphil moisturizer with SPF 15 every morning, she told her not to use soap as it makes her skin realy dry, instead ponds cold cream. I saw the improvement of her face, sunburn dissapear , her skin texture smooth, and the wrinkles is not much, the vitamin E improve her skin.
If I turn 40 I will do the same to. Laughing

That was excellent advice from her doc. The E is an antioxidant and also very emollient. It probably helped her skin to repair itself. Using a spf 15 was a skin-saving step with her gardening in the sunshine and not using soap...well, that helps the super-sensitive,super-dry skin as well. I guess sometimes we forget that our skincare regimens don't have to be rocket science or very complicated to make a big difference.

Thanks all for your input. I have also been using Lancome for a while and wanted to switch to a new product and was curious what everyone out there liked for a moisturizer for the over 40 drier skin. Still open to ideas............

My mom (over 40)uses Resurgence Day Moisture by Murad and she loves it. Her skin looks smoother and has a really healthy glow. She tried to use the night creme, but said it was too heavy for her.
Here's a link if you want to read about it.
