....all the celebrities in Asia seem to have flawless skin?
I have never really seen any Asian celebs with acne or pigmentation, just really smooth skin. Whilst some celebs in America or Europe have less "perfect" skin.
Is it just clever makeup, lots of photoshopping or that the Asian celebs never leave the house without makeup so never get papped? |

Hmm, Im not really sure...I know in Hong Kong the paps are really quite vicious! Putting cameras in changing rooms, renting the flat opposite the celebs so they can take pics of them whilst they are acting the most natural etc etc |

Edenfield, paparazi can be much worse than you could imagine in Asia especially in Hong Kong!
YeahYeah, I agree that many if not all Asian (Chinesee/Japanese/Korean) woman stars have very beautiful skin.
I recently attended the Venice Film Festival and spoke (as close as 20cm face-to-face distance) to the rising Chinese star, TangWei, leading role in the latest film "Lust, Caution" by the renown Taiwanese director Ang Lee.
Man, I'm so stunned by her porcelain skin! Absolutely flawless (at least to my naked plus sort of hungry eyes )! Not only is her face smooth and glowing but her neck has no one single neckline at the age of 28! And I am so envious that she has no noticeable facial hair at all unlike many Asian women do with darker hair color. Her flawless décolleté was another real big WOW for me (she was wearing a very low cut night gown).
She didn't wear heavy type of make up that night in order to match her gown and style so you'd imagine how impressed I was.
Again, impressed.
And again, disappointed by my own skin
p/s: I also met Tony Leung and guess what, he has acne scars when you look at him really close |

WOW Nicollette---love to have your job! You get to meet all those celebs! Did you happen to meet Lee Hom too???
I am suprised that Tony Leung has acne scars...dont remember him having acne. But with all money, I would have thought he did something about it. Im suprised his girlfriend or is it wife now hasnt given him any of the skincare stuff she endorses. Anyways, I dont find that hes that attractive, too many wrinkles and he looks really old, and his eyes arent really that "mesmerising".
Which other Asian celebs have you seen that actually has imperfections!?
I did a google search on Tang Wei and she does have lovely skin...cant find really a fault , wish I can say that about mine! |

LOL yeahyeah -- don't get envious, it is NOT my regular job to meet celebs! Actually, a friend of mine "outsourced" me this pretty cool job: watch this film on its first public debut to write up a movie review for her magazine. See, Ang Lee = giant event in Asia film market.
It was brief facing Tony but I was most certainly he had some tiny pimple scars; not obvious but you need to be really close to see them. Guess when he looks into your eyes, he focuses really deeply and that's probably what his fans mean by "mesmerising". Yes, LeeHom was there too. Very nice gentle guy. He's much younger so no doubt having better skin. But I feel like he just had a tad too much of make up on his face, accentuated his already quite red lips.
Stars appearing on 2D medias are often stunning but seeing them in 3D form is quite another matter. That's how I find TangWei. At such close distance, layering of make up just couldn't hide one's real glow.
When visiting a friend of mine shooting photos for a famous Taipei wedding studio, I really opened my eyes wide on how make up artists could "transform" an ordinary looking girl into a stunning star on photos. But this girl sitting right in front of me just looked completely cakey and masky with all the make up stuff on! |

Tony Leung is a wonderful actor, and I try to see any movie he’s in, but I’ve also noticed he doesn’t have perfect skin. Nicollette, what did you think of Lust/Caution?
I happened to take an elevator recently with the Hong Kong actor Simon Yam, just the two of us in that confined space, lucky me! His skin is not wonderful either, but he can buy me a drink any day, as can Tony Leung |

Awww I want to see Lee Hom's red lips!
I was watching the chinese channel yesterday and there was a brief interview with Tang Wei (I think she was at a Cartier event or some other rich event!) and her skin sure looks good! Cant see any wrinkles, spots, pigmentation...nothing!
If I had your "part-time" job, I think I will just stare at all the celeb's skin to see if they have any imperfections! |

Hi appletini - don't you ever get me start talking about "Lust, Caution" because I won't be able to stop even after 3 days and 3 nights! LOL
In my personal point of view, this movie is THE masterpiece of Ang Lee (certainly empowered by the late writer Eileen Chang). I just wish I'd watch it over and over again (it's NOT yet on air here, damn). This film is completely different from any of Ang's previous movies. I couldn't define it as film noir, really, but it certainly carries some elements of such kind. The theme of the movie itself can be controversial to certain as it touches the "zone grise" of human nature during wartime chaos. No clear border line could be drawn between the RIGHT and the WRONG. As for the actors, Tony Leung really made a big leap in this film. For those who know Tony from "In the mood for love" or "Infernal affair", you'd by no means recognize this Mr. Yee in "Lust, Caution" as the old mesmerising Tony! The most rewarding part for me is to have discovered the precious bijoux newcomer, TangWei, certainly one of the most talented Chinese actress (not star, I must emphasize) since Yuan LingYi. Just have to conclude this: simply captivating performance by both Tang and Leung. For other aspects such as cinemathography by Rodriego Prieto, orginal music by Alexandre Desplat, art direction/costume/make-up by PanLai, etc....simply the best combination ever put together by Ang.
Oops, I'd better stop! Just don't miss "Lust, Caution" on any account
p/s: Simon Yam sure has less perfect skin; you'd see it clearly even on TV screen but Tony is much less noticeable on screen.
Hey YeahYeah - are you big fans of LeeHom? If so, don't miss the film! He made huge effort though not up to the expectation of certains. He deserves your encouragements |

I do like Lee Hom's songs...even though I dont understand Mandarin
I would love to watch it when its out. Thanks for your review of the film. The only thing I have heard about this film was about that scene and whether it was real, cos people were interviewing Ka Ling Lau (Tony Leung's girlfriend) about it. |
