I'm new here-have lurked around a bit, but never posted. But maybe you ladies can help me.
I am 43, with fair skin. As a teenager I had oily skin. About a year ago I started getting serious about my skin. I hadn't had a skincare regimen since I was a teenager! Ack! But...as I recently started getting curious about natural skin care, I started investigating...My problem is that for the past week or so, my skin gets super oily a couple hours after I do my regimen. When I noticed this I changed my routine a bit, and just went back to wash, tone, moisturize. Before, I would wash, tone, use a specialty lotion (ie, Paula' Choice 8% AHA), moisturize, with exfoliation scrub every 3 days. Up until the past week or so, my skin was beautiful!! The small lines around my lips and eyes were just about gone, my skin was soft and glowing, it was just perfect!!! What is going on?? Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear that.
Though I have not much comments about the items you are using, I highly recommended you to try Obagi. It improves many skin problems.
It works perfect on me! |

my guess is something in your routine is drying out your skin and its natural response is to produce more oil. from the looks of it, i would guess that the witch hazel you're using as toner might be the culprit. witch hazel has a high alcohol content and isn't recommended to be used undiluted on the skin as toner. i would recommend you try a hydrosol or toner without alcohol and see how your skin reacts.
i am not familiar with any other products you're currently using, so i cannot on them.

Maybe you're doing too much? I second the witch hazel as the culprit.
I found that I needed to simplify my routine. I tended to go overboard. |

Thank you ladies for you kind comments and concern. What I have done the last 2 nights was slather Burt's Bee's Carrot Creme for night time all over my face. I have woken up each morning now with my skin back to how I like it!! Can't say I can use this stuff every nite, because it's so oily, but now I know how to rescue my skin! Yes I believe the witch hazel was a definite no-no, but even when I stopped using it my skin was still oily feeling. Going too far can be a bad, bad thing, LOL! So, maybe by the end of the week, I'll do a light exfoliation scrub, and see how it goes, but for now, just the basics, please!
