Okay, I know most people will say that MAC is bad for us, and it is. Just that recently with the launch of their holiday stuff I got really into it again.
I used to use MAC in highschool and it really ruined my skin.

Recently I've been looking at their stuff and decided to buy a whole bunch of stuff form them.
I got the holiday Royal asset - smokey eye. It looks awesome, but after I used it for the first time, I found that my eyes felt really dry (contact wearer), there were red veins visible and the skin on my eye lids were actually flaking(minor). I'm not allergic to anything though, but that reminded me of how the mac foundations used to make my skin raw dry (dunno if that makes sense), flakey, and totally dull looking with tiny bumps and breakouts now n then.

Despite all this, I'm planning to buy 2 other holiday palettes, their holiday lip thingies, and try their skincare.

I was wondering if anyone tried their Lightful line, or fix+, or even anything?
the thing is they don't put their ingredients up online so I can't check it out..

Anyways, please prove me wrong for giving it ANOTHER chance once again Embarassed

maybe..help me snap out of this MAC-loving phase before I waste all my money (i'm an extreme impulse purchaser) Sad

much thanks!~

I use their eye shadows and liner and I love love the fluidline stuff! And I use their powders and blush too!!! However, I don't use any of their skincare line.. never tried it and I have no desire too...I used to use Bobbi Brown cosmetics too and now they are the same company because I believe Estee Lauder owns them both!

I love MAC shadows and blushs, but I can't use their face makeup/powders, and I really do not like their lip products. they tend to be drying, and to me it smells weird.

I admire your persistance with MAC despite the skin ordeal you've had with the products! If those conditions turned up on me, I would stop using them and not go back... Shock You don't have to be allergic to a product for it not to be suitable for you. But having said that your skin in highschool may be totally different to the condition it is now, probably not as oily or enflamatory.

I love MAC eyeshadows, just looking at the array of colours is enough to make me happy.... Very Happy and I have some of their make up brushes. I've not used their foundations but have heard great reviews about their Face and Body Foundation. I once bought their Strobe Cream, a product surrounded by a lot of hype at the time, which was meant to give the effect of a light being shone under your complexion... not to mention that I never used it, was a bit of a waste. Rolling Eyes

Good on you for the perseverance... and you'd be pleased to know that MAC don't test on animals. Wink

I kind of think of MAC as stage makeup, kind of heavy for everyday but that being said I wear MAC blush everyday, it has the best pigmentation of any I have used before and recently I tried their fluid line foundation which I will be purchasing for those special times when I do wear foundation.

I have several of their eyeshadows and blushes and love them, I've never tried their foundation so I can't speak to that one. Their lip glass Oh Baby is one of my favorites that I continue to buy over and over.

oh yah, I was thinking maybe if I get a primer for my eyes that could work. Might just be healthier for the skin with a little barrier cuz MAC shadows grab on so tight.
I'm thinking of getting the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Has anyone tried that? There's no UB in Vancouver Sad

I love their lipglass in Explicit, and I just bought the holiday palet in Royal Asset:3 pink lips, and the Viva Glamourous:3 cool lips.
I love the containers they come in - very antique looking. A portion of the proceeds from the Viva Glamourous line goes to the Aids Foundation.

I still use MAC eyeshadows, but I doubt I'll buy more as they run out. Their satin finish shadows are very flattering on slightly crepey lids, I will say that.

I always used to use MAC foundations. I considered myself a MAC girl before I discovered Alima. MAC was basically the only foundation that would come close to matching my very yellow-toned skin. I never had any problems with their products--they never made me break out even though I am acne-prone and prone to congested pores. Now, the only products I use of MAC are eye shadows, which I rarely wear, eye liners and brushes. And even those I'm starting to move away from because there are much better options now.

I've been using their StudioFix powder foundation for the last 12 years, but that's about it. I gave up on their lipsticks as they're too drying.

I love MAC..especially Fluidliner - Pro Longwear Lipcolour (color last for hours and hours)- sometimes top it with Aquaphor when I want a bit less gloss. Comes off easily with a bit of jojoba or avocodo oil. Also love Studio Fix.

Another MAC lover here but must admit I haven't tried any of their foundations or 'face' products. But their eyeshadows rock and I'm dying to try their fluidline liners.

Count me in as a MAC lover, with Urban Decay a close second. I never use foundation, just powder and I have really good luck with MAC's Select Sheer Loose in NC20. I also enjoy thier eyeshadows as I love color and I find the MAC shadows t be highly blendable. I use Urban Decay's Primer Potion, then the shadows. Works well for me.

I'm also a MAC user. I use their Studio Fix Powder and the Studio Finish Concealer. I have their Jellybabe Lipglass (like the colour but found it a bit too sticky).

i do like the mac limited edition releases, i buy a lot of their beauty powders and holiday releases. i don't really think their base products (foundation powder etc) are bad for the skin, what a product does to the skin is also relative to how the user's skin condition is.

It's strange. I could never find a colour match from MAC foundations.

I used to be a BIG user of M.A.C., from about 1991-2000. As a former make-up artist, I'd initially wanted to work for their Pro team.

That is, until Lauder bought them in 1996, and things changed A LOT. Everything below: true!

http://www.make-upboard.com/showthread.php?t=1726

http://www.clubvibes.com/forum/topic.asp?topic_id=414927

With the exception of their old stand-by, Studio Concealer (in the pot), the product is simply not that great, and I have no interest in dealing with the attitudes & arrogance I encounter from 20 year-old, female employees, wearing drag-queen make-up, strutting their stuff as "professional make-up artists", simply because they work behind a (now COMMON) M.A.C. counter, and have attended ... John Casablancas or Blanche MacDonald's make-up program.

Just because a squirrel is in a cookie jar, doesn't make it a cookie.

On principle, I also try to avoid stuff from Lauder & it's other subsidiary companies.

I just recently tried MAC eyeshadows; their colors are fantastic; I only wish these brilliant pigments offered by MAC were available in organic /natural cosmetics. I'll probably continue to supplement my Dr. Hauschka standby with MAC eyeshadows but wouldn't dream of using their foundations!
