Happy New Year one and all.... One of these years I'm going to stick to my resolutions, perhaps this is the year. So here are a few of mine:1.) Quit smoking (The 1st is my 56th birthday, and I've made this resolution for the last 25 years.........This year is for sure.. (Prayers will be greatly acceppted...lol)2.) Get my lazy retired butt off the couch and walk off the holiday pounds. 3.) Get my Christmas shopping finished before Christmas Eve of 2008.. 4.) Organize my closets etc, and throw out what I haven't used or missed in the last year.5.) Have a little extra "me" time. (We mother's, grandmother's, always tend to put our needs last on the priority list, but sometimes we need to be a little selfish, and take some time just for us.)
What are your resolutions for this year? |

Spend less on skin care, look for more critical info to avoid lemming.
Take warming herbs and foods to get through winter. Drink smartwater keep watching to get enough electrolytes. |

Making New Year resolutions and not keeping them made me realize years ago that it's silly.
Now I pray and meditate that the new year will show me that I have made progress in understanding myself and others better. I ask to be more loving, more patient, more willing to help.
Dear God please show me. Make it obvious. |

I hope to start off 2008 exercising more and eating better. Since quitting smoking 15 months ago I gained 15 lbs. The extra weight is not attractive but NEVER will I regret being smoke free.
Happy, healthy 2008 all!!! |

Oh Winnie, Thanks a bunch for your post..
I am getting ready to smoke my "last" cigarrette at this very moment. I'm hoping "this" time will be the charm....grrrr
Does it get easier after 15 months, or is the craving still there? |

Kassy_A Good luck with you attempt to quit smoking. It is so worth it. I have more energy then I have had in years. My husband also quit 7 months ago. We saved enough money to go to Disney March 3rd with our grandchildren.
The cravings are getting farther apart. I expect that from time to time I will want to have a cigarette. However, I know that I can't pick up even one.
If you ever need support please feel free to PM me.
Again, good luck. |

Happy New Year all
Here are a few resolutions I hope to stick to:
*Go Tee Total, I am not a big alcohol drinker but when I do have a drink I feel so rotten I wish I had never bothered.
*No more eating late at night.
*Learn something new - get the old brain in gear.
*Do more exercise.
*Spend less, save more. |

A word on resolutions -- from someone who has pretty much always made them -- and always kept them.
Me====> all puffed up.
Be specific with your resolutions and quantities. Rather than "exercise more" or "buy less", say "walk twenty minutes three mornings a week for January." After that, it will be a habit.
Instead of "buy less," say "Budget $50 a month for skincare, carryovers allowed."
The more specific and quantified (including numbers) the resolution, the more likely you will keep it.
"Write that novel"? Nah. "Write ten minutes a day, no matter what. Carryovers allowed." The novel will get written.
Break it down into smaller parts. Figure in crazy days.
"Lose 15 pounds"? When? No. "Join Weight Watchers, pay by the month, and attend at least a meeting a week for January and February."
Quitting smoking is terribly difficult, and yet the best thing you could ever do for yourself or your loved ones. You might try rationing cigarettes down by the week, first. Or allow yourself a cigarette in the morning, and one after dinner, for a month. Then see.
Best of luck to all of us.
Okay. I do have one resolution that I never keep. "Floss more." I need to break that one down. Yes. To "find a floss I like, keep several containers in convenient spots, floss twice a week, etc." |

Sidda, What great sensible suggesstions you gave us all to ponder.. It seems to make those resolutions so much more attainable by putting them in baby steps..
Love it....
But God help me, [b][i]I sooooooo want a cigarette.... |

A hint for people who want to loose 5 pounds or floss more: Go get invisalign - I used to floss three times a week but now I need to brush my teeth and floss every time I eat. I used to snack all day long but now I only eat 3 meals and lost few pounds |
