Hi everyone!
Have you tried laser hair removal? Did it hurt? Did you see real results?
I would love to have my bikini line and under arms done but I'm a chicken...
Are there any ladies or gents from Toronto who can recommend a good spa?
Thanks! |

Yes, it hurts! Have a look here for more info if you're interested: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=14823
That's just my experience, if you search for laser on the forum you should find a number of other threads as well. HTH |

stovetop does this mean the laser did not work on your underarms and thats why you went for electrolysis?
which method of electrolysis did you try? how many sessions per week? and how long did you go for electrolysis before acheiving those permanant results? or are you still keep going? |

I had 6 sessions on my lower legs and now have hardly any hair there at all now (just a tiny few, very sparse and thin hairs).
I'm delighted.
Personally, I think it hurts more at first as the pain is only when the hairs are zapped. As the hairs become less common, the amount of pain decreases.
Mind you, I don't think it hurts all the much but I do have a very high pain threshold and can take the maximum recommended power for my skintype. My therapist says I'm hardcore! |

Thanks! |

simran - The electrolysis was in my opinion, 80% effective. Initially, I went every 2 weeks for electrolysis and had both underarms totally treated. I now go more or less seasonally. I also had my eyebrows done and love it! |

It was a waste of money for me I had 10 treatments, some of which were double passes over the area in the same session, over a 2 yr period and it was only about 50% effective. I was doing the Brazilian wax.
I've taken to torturing, I mean waxing myself b/c I still can't wear a swimsuit, and I don't want to pay for/schedule salon waxes anymore. |

I tried about 6 sessions of laser hair removal on my underarms and bikini line. I have no visible results. I am still shaving. And it hurt!!!
The hair was brown that I was lasering (I have fair skin and blonde hair) but it didn't work. The tech said that I might have to do 6-10 more sessions. I decided to save my $$$ and not endure the pain.
I like the Venus raser! |

I've had laser treaments- 1 every 2 months for the past 6 years- so that is 36 treaments! My hair has come back a bit thinner (side burn area), but now I've started sprouting hairs on my chin and neck (which I never had before!).
The laser I have been using is the soft touch laser- more suited for darker skin and darker hair. My skin is medium and I have dark hair. The reason I keep going? The hair turns blonde (once the laser zaps it) and then falls out in about 10 days and stays away for 2-3 months. So I don't have to worry about the hair for those few months. And my laser technician only charges me $100 for each treatment (full face and neck)
I'm getting sick of it though and would like to know if anyone else can reccomend a place or a type of laser that will actually help diminish my hair!
Oh yeah- it does hurt like a b*$ch! Face isn't so bad, I had my under arms done a couple of times and it was way worse! Bikini is not as painful as waxing though!

This should read "The laser treatments were, in my opinion, 80% effective." Sorry for the mix-up. If I had to do it all over again. I would only do electrolysis. I believe that it is the only permanent way to remove unwanted hair. |

I had my bikinim underarm and legs done - I think 6 or 8 sessions. It hurt but not as much as waxing can. There has been a reduction in hair but not gone completely so still shaving. I have very pale skin and dark hair so the ideal candidate for laser. I guess I'd probably go for more sessions if it was not for the cost but I'm not sure there would ever be no hair. |
