I have developed something called Civatte on my neck and I am only 27 years old. I have noticed it for many years but has gotten worse. Basically it looks like chicken skin on my neck were the sun hits, and is apparantly from sun damage. I also am starting to get deep lines on neck and its looking really old. I researched on internet and there is no treatment except IPL at the derm office which I thought I would do but after looking into home devices I thought maybe I would just use the money to invest in a device that I could use for a long time. I have been browsing this forum for hours and cant find anyone that has this condition or what they have done to help make it better. Please help! Thanks, Brenda |

That's a shame.
My dermatologist told me he can make faces twenty years younger, but necks . . . sigh.
You can improve things, though. Here are my suggestions:
Of course, never go out without sunscreen on your neck again - and pull up your collar on the window side of the car when the sun is beating on it.
Try a light - a LightStim or a BabyQuasar - red variety on the sides and back of your neck, not over your thyroid.
Try the mildest copper peptide serum on your neck all the way around.
The light and CP used religiously improved my neck after a year. It's still a different color and mildly creased, but at least it doesn't look like it belongs to a fishwife. |

Thanks so much for your reply. I wish knowing what I know now I hadent baked myself in the sun, tanning beds, and lots of baby oil. I also started applying Tazorac to my neck and noticed a slightly better appearance. I live in Vegas so of course that doesnt help either. I love the sun everday but cant leave house without sunscreen and I will be getting my windows tinted ASAP. Which light device do you own?? |

I use Dr. Pickard's brand - the serum, not the super recipes. http://www.skinbiology.com/ I got it from somebody named Nancy; but can't remember her site name.
I use a LightStim, basic model.
Don't get paranoid about it. It's not the biggest catastrophe in the world because you can still diminish it with mineral makeup (which
doesn't stain collars as much as liquid makeup does).
I did get paranoid about it. My derm made a bigger than polite deal about my neck. That was the only reason I knew anything was "wrong" with it. He wanted to sell me infrared treatments. He outsmarted himself.
If your neck is showing sun damage, then probably you have a permanent tan on your chest and arms? Those areas should be treated and protected, too, before the texture gets leathery.
I'm more than twice your age. I dislike the sun and never got tans. There were a few bad sunburns over the years and the effects of being in the car. That's it. Everything I have came through clothes and windows.
I can't see my message, so I don't know if I told you to pull up your collar when you're in the car and the sun is beating on you.
Good luck. |
