Hi, I'm new here and very happy to find a group of people who are asking questions and formulating their own products.
I'm approaching my fiftieth birthday and -- not a moment too soon -- reevaluating my skin care. I've been dodging mild acne since my teens and unfortunately have always found that the only way to keep breakouts at bay was to wash my face morning and evening with soap (gasp!) to the point of "squeakiness." Needless to say, this is drying me out now, but I'm still worried about pimples.
I'd like to formulate a cleanser with as few ingredients as possible (because my skin is somewhat sensitive as well) that will clean thoroughly enough to prevent breakouts without stripping and drying. What should I use?
Thanks,
Ellen |

You can find diy acne prep recipes at Garden of Wisdom forum and at skinactives.com forum.
I've gotten best results for oil control and pore control and general skin tone from Proactiv. It bleaches a little, brightens. I like the effects of benzoyl peroxide.
I get the introductory supply and use it up, wait a month or two and and order another one.
I don't use it constantly day after day because I understand that prolonged use of benzoyl peroxide has a negative effect (can't remember what it is). I've also heard that people who used it for six months or so all of a sudden found themselves immune to it or worse had a terrible breakout when going off. |
