Hi,
Does anyone have recommendations as to which brand of blush I should use that would have the least negative effect on my skin? I would rarely use it anyhow since I do not wear cosmetics on a regular occasion. I've got my eye on Dior, Givenchy or Estee Lauder right now.
Best regards, |

What do you mean by negative effect on your skin? Any reputable brand (like the ones you listed) shouldn't negatively impact your skin in any way. I think as long as you remove your makeup every night, it shouldn't have negative effects. If you're worried about synthetic ingredients, you could go with a natural/organic cosmetic line. I'm not too familiar with them, but if you do a little searching here, you'll find lots of info. |

Thanks for your reply - apologies for not being clearer: I'm mainly worried about breakouts caused from having anything on my face for a long period of time (say, a long work day?). |

No need to apologize! Sorry if I came off a little strong in my reply. I, like you, do not use a lot of makeup so I don't have a whole lot of experience with it. But what I can say is that I've never broken out from using any blush I've tried. I currently use Benefit Dandelion and it's really easy to use and the color is natural and flattering. I don't think blush samples are offered often but if you purchase from a department store or Sephora and you do have a bad reaction to it, you should be able to return it with no problems. |

I love blush and own a wide variety, I have never suffered from a breakout.
I have a few favourites, if you are not going to use it that often Rimmel do some lovely blushes that cost next to nothing and wear well. I would spend the extra on a good brush as this makes all the difference, a powder brush would do and then you could use this with face powders as well.
As well as Rimmel, I also like the Sheertone MAC blushes as you can gently build up the colour. Nars also do nice blushes.
Also look at the cream blushes, these you can apply quickly with fingers (no need for brush) and they can be used for lips too. |

If you are concerned with breaking out after a long day, I would steer clear of blushes with pore-clogging ingredients such as mineral oil, silicones, etc. I'm VERY breakout-prone, and I like Bourjois's blush (in Lune D'Or), and Alima's Luminous Shimmer Blush (in Sugar Rose). |

BlueFortyTwo welcome to the board!
You might also try Laura Mercier blush they are great and I have had no adverse effect from using them. |

The only brand I would advise to stay clear of would be Cover Girl. Their blushes are awful. I had one that actually stung when I put it on.
I would recommend to Rimmel, Nars, Cargo, Almay... |

I like NARS. I use their stick type blush (just shimmers - forgot the color) and brush on their famous 'ORGASM' powder blush. The trick is to apply it with a light hand - and voila - nice fresh finish !! |

I recently bought Dr. Haushka blush #2 it is beautiful rosey pink, and I believe since its a natural company, all natural ingredients it shouldn't cause any breakouts, at least it hasn't for me. |

i read some where that if you are prone to outbreak, it is best to avoid blush with mineral oil as it will clog your pores etc. 1 of the brand that i knew of is ~ Shu Uemura, it consist of mineral oil. |

Monumental apologies for taking so long to respond; my internship's been keeping me extremely busy. I truly appreciate everyone's suggestions and have definitely heeded them - have got a bunch of blush now to try! There's really no need for me to say which one will work the best as everyone's suggestions equally meant a lot! This is such a friendly forum!
Much thanks again! |

Thanks amylola, you have solved my problem of which color to pick. I heard it was really nice and seems not to expensive to other brands, plus I personally like the limited selection of colors as I heard everyone on this planet basically used on 1 of 3 colors.
Just a side note:
The only blush I never liked was Almay and L'Oreal. I have used them on and off for at least 30 or so years and they just didn't do anything but waste my money. I always ended up throwing these out. Haven't bought their products for years. |

A wonderful blush that they carry on EDS is Julie Hewett creme blush. The natural is beautiful in color and the other colors will layer over it very nicely. I have oily skin and can use this without any problem. |

I am currently using both Mac and Nars. I have to say though that I use the Nars sparingly because it is very densely pigmented. If you are prone to breakouts, I would avoid frosty or shimmery formats because I read that the ingredients in those types can contribute to blemishes ...they also accentuate the imperfections! |

I second the recommendation for Benefit's Dandelion. I absolutely love this product. Very natural color and almost impossible to over apply. |

I often get unusual breakouts on my cheeks and I too worry that it is from my makeup.
I love Nars orgasam blush though.
Pretty color and seem to look good on everyone. |
