Hi everyone,
I'm new to the skincare world, but I have had it with my skin and am ready to try a skincare regimen.
I am 26 years old, with fair skin, auburn hair and green eyes. Lately (about the past 4-6 months) I have found that my skin is:
Blotchy & Red - all over
Bumpy & rough - red bumps.. not acne.. all over (mostly) forehead but chin as well
Dry, really flaky, and itchy - around nose and eyebrow area
I think my skin is pretty tolerant as far as products go.. maybe just slightly sensitive, as in really strong things will make it burn and turn more red, but I think it isn't anything out of the ordinary.
One person mentioned that it may be sebaceous dermatitis, which may be the case for the nose and eyebrow area. I will go see a derm for this next week. However, that still doesn't change the fact that my skin is blotchy, uneven, dull, and just.. not healthy looking.
I am definitely willing to spend a fair amount of money & start a new regimen.. I would like to find all the products either online or from one brick and mortar store.. I probably wouldn't trek all over the city to find different products. I live in San Francisco, CA.
Thanks for your help!! Of course I am here to answer any questions if you have any!
Sincerely,
Stacy |

Hi Stacy and welcome! I would suggest emailing EDS for some help as I've always found their suggestions spot on. Here is their contact info:

I am sure others might have suggestions also. |

It sounds like you may have rosacea. Your derm will be able to tell you more about it and suggest products that will not irritate your skin further. Meanwhile many people who have rosacea suffer from indigestion. If you do, it is worth taking organic apple cider vinegar in water before meals - normally one tablespoon or so in a glass of water. People with indigestion often produce too little hydrochloric acid. I found this worked wonders with my indigestion and I'm too lazy to take it three times a day, most of the time I only take it once or twice a day. Although I don't have rosacea, I do tend to get broken capillaries, and this is considered by natropaths to be a sign of poor digestion. They have been much better since I started taking the vinegar.
Meanwhile, just use as few products on your face as possible, just a mild cleanser and sunblock during the day. Sometimes irritated skin is caused by using too many products, or over cleansing which removes the skins own protective mantle. |

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I will email EDS and see what their suggestions are.
I have considered Rosacea, however I don't think I have it (although I will wait for the derm to diagnose). I don't have the trademark flushing, eye irritation, or pimples.. I looked on the rosacea dot org site and my skin doesn't really resemble any of their examples.
It really just seems like my skin may be congested/clogged, and dull, like it needs good exfoliation and some sort of brightening.
I don't know, though, it will be interesting to see what the derm says.
I will let you guys know what happens and also let you know what EDS says.
Thanks!
