I have been using Queen Helene Triple Whipped Cold Cream to cleans my face (remove mu etc) and then I apply a "cold creme pak" on my face each night. My skin has improved SO much that I had to write about this process. I guess the Cold Creme Pak is something women did in the 40's. I had some cold cream on had so i thought I would give it a whirl.
Process:
1. Apply cold cream all over face and remove with warm (not hot) washcloth.
2. Apply another generous layer and leave it on for about 2 - 3 mins. Then remove again with same warm cloth
3. Apply toner (Reviva Glycolic toner) with cotton ball
and that is it! I no longer need a moisturizer because I'm not stripping my skin of its natural oils. I use an eye cream and a lip balm and that is it. In the morning I do the same thing and skip the moisturizer.
I have combo (VERY) acne prone skin and blackheads on my nose area. This process has improved my skin so much that i have been actually getting compliments and can use next to no makeup.
I'm sure some of you have cold cream on hand so give it a try. I am partial to foaming cleansers so this was a tough switch for me but I'm so glad that I did. |

Good for you Olivia! What a simple thing to do. I sometimes wonder if all the steps we do to our skin are too much.
I have a question. I am blackhead-prone (especially on the nose) but no traditional acne problems. Did this improve the blackheads on your nose specifically? This is my most troublesome area so I'm always looking for something that might help. |

I think she said -- this is a time-honored, traditional beauty treatment. My mother and grandmother both did this. Why would you need a gun to try it? |

Cause I have very acne-prone skin
Cold cream is an emulsion of water and certain fats, usually including beeswax and various scent agents, designed to smooth skin and remove makeup. The name derives from the cooling feeling that the cream leaves on the skin.
The invention of cold cream is credited to a physician in Second century Greece, Galen

I like the way you combine a drugstore item like Queen Helene with a high end item like Revive tonic... |

I hope you're not being condescending, because the ingredients going into both probably cost the same.
Yes your Skinceuticals serum cost half a penny to produce (including the packaging) |

This sounds like a very easy routine, I like the idea of it not stripping the oils from my face. So you have not had any breakouts since you've been trying this treatment? |

mamawalnut- I would say I saw the most improvement in my nose area...I have blackheads too...deep ones that nothing seems to get rid of. I truly believe that the cold cream pak actually disovles the oil in that area. Maybe if you do not feel comfortable trying it on your whole face...just apply to your nose and see if it works for you.
I got the idea to do this from the "Fedora Lounge"...it is a site dedicated to retro beauty. I bought the cold cream about 6 months ago and it just sat in my cupboard until I read a post about the improvements this process can have on skin like mine. I think I was stripping my skin by using harsh foaming cleansers and "acne" treatments. Once I stopped using those harsh ingredients my "old" good skin came back.
I just ordered some PSF skincare so hopefully it will work well with my new found routine.
For the record this process has been used for YEARS and YEARS by some pretty fantastic women. As long as you remove it all and tone I do not think anyone would have a problem with breakouts.
I think this process would really benefit anyone that finds most moistuizers break them out....like me. No moistuizer (no matter how gentle) seems to work for my skin and using this process I do not need one. Its a win/win for me.
Queen Helene does not test on animals either! |

Sidda, I have very acne prone skin also and i've had no problems. I think as long as you tone you should be fine. You are not really leaving any cold cream behind you are just not stripping your skin.
I just got my PSF order today...now I'm nervous to use it...I'm afraid to ruin a good thing. |

Oh sorry, no I was not being condescending .
I am aware of the value of ingredients, but I haven't found any drugstore equivalent of revive yet, so that makes it a high end (and expensive product).
I am not a skincare snob because I use quite cheap products which I combine with some more expensive products. I am a DIY every now and then, so I always tend to replicate expensive brands with similar ingredients. |

Hey Londonfan~had to pipe in on your behalf!
I think you are referring to REVIVE($$$)and Olivia is talking about REVIVA( a much lower priced company that you can find in healthfood stores and some drugstores). |

Oh yes Oliva I've been using cold cream for several years not the way you do it but just to first remove my makeup. Than I use my regular cleanser to thoroughly clean my face and neck. This is nothing new. Cold Cream is normally used as a tissue off makeup remover, but would never use it as a daytime or night time cream. Glad you like it. |

I would never use this cold cream as a "leave on" kind of cream...sorry if I gave that impression. I think you could use it as a massage creme and then remove. |

From what I understand it helps dissolve the gunk that's clogging your pores. The key is to make sure you remove the cream thoroughly with a warm, wet washcloth after cleansing, then use a toner to remove any traces that might remain. Olivia might have more insights - I know from her posts that she found her pores were cleaner after using this cleansing cream. |

Yes.....oil does dissolve oil. I have found that it does help dissolve the blackheads and clogged pores. The important thing is that you remove it all...I use a warm washcloth then a toner. |
