Crying or Very sad

Hi all

i need some advice, iam 9 weeks pregnant and for the last 2 months my skin has gone crazy. i suffered with bad skin anyway (im 2Cool oily skin, spots and scars before i was pregnant (since late teens), however since october, one side of my face is covered in red cyst like spots(in a group, and are taking ages to clear, and tingle slightly)

i use decleor skin care for oily, so use:
cleanser (essential oil)
toner
ylang ylang oil
and harmonie moisuturiser (suffer from slight rosaca)
and decleor tinted spot treatment
dr hauschka rejuventating mask (to treat the scars)

however i keep reading that you should not use essential oils in pregnancy, so am concerned as to what i should be using?? i have been to dr and they can not provide anything as i am pregant (i also keep reading that your skin gets better, but can not see this with mine!)

money is tight at the mo what with christmas soon, and i have been in our large boots store and they have the following products:

nick lowe
murad
avene

can any experts out there please advise?? what products should i be avoiding?? can i use products that have chemicals (AHAs, BHA's, salicy acid etc)?

it is really affecting me and i have problems covering my skin too.

please help/advise (sorry for the long post so early...)

pp

Hi Purple Princess, just came across your post last year. Hope all is going well with the pregnancy and hopefully those raging hormones will have settled down a little and hopefully your skin has calmed. Im sat next to three girls at work who are all pregnant, all within a few weeks of each other (ive stopped drining the water here Laughing ) and they dont appear to have any skin problems, but boy are they eating for two, three, four, five....... Bad Grin

Unfortunately, this is very likely hormonal due to pregnancy, and no topicals will help much. You should tell your OB/GYN because one or two Rx antibiotic creams are safe to use during pregnancy and are often prescribed for women who experience hormonally upset skin during pregnancy. That may help. But otherwise save your money on over the counter topicals, they probably won't do a thing in this case.

You'd better consult a doctor, since you are pregnant. Since skin can absorb the chemicals that used in skincare, so I sugguest you should use natural products.

I think it's sad that nobody responded to your question until now - almost 5 months later!

I hope your pregnancy is going well. Having just given birth myself not long ago, this is one of my favorite subjects these days. I have a feeling your skin has probably improved quite a bit since the beginnning of your pregnancy, as I'm sure your surging hormones have levelled off by now. Here's a fantastic link to pregnancy and cosmetics safety info.........

It is all hormonal. You can try to go to a cosmetician or dematologist for recommendations, but I'm not sure that there is anything that you can really do. Just continue taking care of your skin and good luck with your pregnancy!
