I have researched a little and bought all these great products and I need help in ‘scheduling’ my new skincare regimen.

I have been on mat leave and worn little makeup so leaving the Vit-C on for 20 minutes or applying something in the middle of the day has not been an issue. Since I am returning to work next week I am trying to figure out a regular morning/night routine that will get the most benefit of the products I have.

So far, I have read that Vit-C and retinol contradict and the retinol should be applied at night, so I figure first thing in the morning I will apply Vit-C right after my shower, and wait 15-20 minutes.

I then read from Guapagirl that ‘’emu oil is truly transdermal. That means it actually penetrates the skin barrier rather than sitting on top of it like most oils etc. If your 'active' (copper,Vit C) etc is under the emu, it goes in deeper. In thoery anyway.’’

I already had some I had bought for my newborn’s eczema and want to include it in my regime. So I suppose the Emu oil would be good to apply 15 min after the Vit-C?

I also apply a high physical sunblock in the AM. So I guess the sun block should go on after the Emu oil since wouldn’t the Emu oil to try and penetrate the sunscreen in my skin? Not sure about this….

So far, the Emu oil I have (Dundee Original) is super moisturizing so I am hoping it will be sufficient to moisturize in the AM as I find this is when I need it most before applying makeup.

Nightime: I have PSF’s H.A. serum. After washing, I apply the Retin-A and then the serum afterwards.

As far as a moisturizer goes, should I use the Emu oil again or get a night cream?

Any comments and help would be really appreciated!!! I am freaking out a bit (okay, alot) about returning to work after 16 months and working on getting every routine, including skincare perfected before I return!

Hi and Welcome Jessegirl, It sounds like you have the routine down right. Vitamin C in the morning followed by emu and sunscreen. Make sure your face and hands are completely dry before applying the Vitamin C or it will oxidize. You may want to use the PSF HA in the morning instead of at night, you would apply it before the emu. At night the Retin-A followed by the emu oil (as long as it is moisturizing enough for you) or a night cream sounds right. Best of luck back in the working world, it must have been great having 16 months with your baby.

Thanks Jom! Yes, my mat leave was amazing...all good things must come to an end I guess!

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know the Vit-C could oxidise if my hands weren't dry!

If I feel the emu oil is not mosturizing enough at night after the Retin-A and I go with a night cream...should I skip the emu oil step all together?

thx again

Just my opinion, I think you should either use the emu oil or a night cream, I don't see the need for both.

It sounds like you've got your routine down pat. But I agree that you shouldn't necessarily be using both emu oil and a night cream. It may be too much?

I read somewhere that the emu oil helps penetrate the product. So I figured it would be good to apply after my Retin-A. In the morning, I apply my sunscreen and then makeup and so far the emu oil seems enough.

At night though, I really need a cream. Its really dry where I live (I was reminded last night when my toddler couldn't sleep without a vaporiser) So in the PM, I will try retin-A and then a night cream and skip the emu oil.

Thanks for the advice!
