Hello,
I will be the maid of honor at my good friend's wedding in about 2 weeks (Sept. 25). My problem is that I have the typical "farmer's tan" (white body, dark arms).
Another friend is also in the same predicament as I am (she's the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding which coincidentally falls on the same day as my friend's ). Anyway, she suggested maybe looking into a spray on tan.
I have a tanning salon near my place that offers airbrush tans. The proprietor stated that she does not use dyes. Instead her airbrush machine will spray a brown sugar based solution onto my skin which will cause my natural melanin to come to the surface. I'm suppose to wear loose clothing and not shower for at least 8 hours. She can control the "intensity" of the solution and she suggested the lightest for me since I'm pale as a ghost with the exception of my hands and arms. The "tan" lasts for about 4-6 weeks or less, if I'm an aggressive exfoliator.
So this is different from getting sprayed with a dye (she says I will come out orange-y instead of natural if I went with that option).
Has anyone had this done before and did you like or not like the results? Please let me know all the good, bad and ugly side(s) of this procedure.
Thank you all in advance. |

I have a suggestion if you are open to just spraying your legs!
Air Stockings! sephora.com I love this stuff and I HATE stockings. It isn't exactly the same as a tan but it helps my WHITE legs!
Good Luck! |

Thanks for the suggestion, Sassyred!
Unfortunately, I need an all over color solution for my body.
I forgot to mention that I am wearing a spaghetti strap cocktail dress (above the knee). With cute open toe strappy sandals. |

My friend did air tanning once and it lasted forever!! it was really natural looking and she said she would do it again. Unfortunately I have never gotten it done, so I cant speak from experience. It sounds amazing and it the newest form of tanning that isnt harmful (from what ive read)...Maybe you can test it out by getting a little area done that will be covered like your stomach? So you can see how it looks on you. Will the salon be willing to do that? I hope so cause weddings are a big deal. What color is your dress? Cause that may determine how much "color" you need to get. I love spaghetti straps!

I plan on doing the spray tan for my friends wedding. I'm going to do a trial run a few months before I think. I'd hate to have a reaction! Hopefully the salon will do a test on you. At least it's fall and not bikini season anymore...unless you're in australia |

Amesevey, thanks for your comments, but the "lasting forever" is what I'm afraid of. I don't want it to last forever. I would look very out of place with a perma-tan as everyone around me knows that I'm the normally pale as a ghost.
lianne, I wish I had heard about this months before so I could have tested this out, but my friend's wedding is coming up 2 Saturdays from now.
I may take both of your suggestions and get a test patch done, but I don't know if I should stop pursuing this idea and use Air Stockings for my legs and have the make-up artist use bronzer on my neck and décolletage and hope that works for me. |

luckily I've got a year til the wedding...I can try it out.
If your tan lines aren't too drastic I'm sure a make up artist could blend makeup in and it'll look more subtle. |
