what does
"cosmetically elegant" mean?
I've been looking at sunscreen reviews and have seen this and wondered what it meant. If it means creamy, soft and luxurious- then the SS may not be for me, as I have very oily skin. |

Good question and I'm not sure...maybe it is another way to describe that it is a good make-up base or just a luxury brand? |

Good question! To me it means that it smells and looks nice, spreads smoothly and doesn't just sit there on the skin. It pleases the senses.
Vaseline might be an effective moisturizer, but is it cosmetically elegant?? |

"Elegant" means appealing in appearance, texture and scent. A lot of the cosmetic elegance is achieved with ingredients and processes that only serve the purpose of products pleasant to use - they raise the price; but have nothing to do with efficacy.
When you make your own or buy pre-made products that deliberately leave out unnecessary ingredients, the difference is noticeable. You get can gritty texture, watery or too-thick lotions and creams, horrific smell, unpleasant stickiness, annoying residue . . . I put up with them to a smaller extent now than I did when I first discovered miy. |

I've been using that phrase a lot! For me it means that putting it on doesn't make my skin look worse than what it looks like with nothing on. For sunscreen this could be an issue because sunscreen can have a white cast, it can be greasy, it can be flakey, it can be difficult to spread evenly... Basically, I don't want to look like I'm wearing sunscreen. |
