For me right now the products I am using most for getting rid of pimples in a gentle way are:

PSF Acne Med Masque
Zinc Paste
Honey
Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum

I don't use all these treatments all at once... Sometimes I do them in succession, sometimes just one of them. This is when I'm at home, by the way... For the day I only maybe dab some of the juice beauty blemish clearing serum under my sunscreen.

I tend to wait until I see white, and then I wait for as long as I can stand it before squeezing the white out. I even go to work/out with some white looking pimples... My reasoning is that I'd rather be really ugly for a little bit rather than a little ugly forever so I'm pretty paranoid of squeezing pimples too early and causing scarring.

I'm trying to train myself to not touch. Its a hard habit to break though!
I like Origins Spot Remover. It burns sometimes but I am a bit old school in thinking no pain no gain. I'm interested in hearing of other blemish spot treatments...

I think the PSF acne mud masque should work well for you- it's definitely the harshest of my ance treatments. However, for something specifically for acne it's still relatively mild. I think it's a great product.

I have used just about every acne med from Rx treatments like Differin and Benzaclin to OTC benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. But I'm not a teenager anymore (I'm 27) and my skin just can't take the harsh treatments anymore. So I've been experimenting with essential oil treatments.

Lemon EO mixed with a little bit of a carrier oil, like jojoba oil, works pretty well--but as you can't use it before going in the sun, it's best used at night. Lemon EO mixed with Tea Tree Oil works pretty well, too, and helps cover up the smell of the Tea Tree Oil. I've also recently discovered that Lavender EO really helps reduce redness and inflammation. It has also significantly faded some old spots that I had. *Bonus* If I use it right before bed, the smell helps me relax and I've been falling asleep faster since I've been using it!

If I have a really big under-the-skin pimple coming, I use my homemade Yonka Emulsion Pure. I was extremely skeptical at first (that's why I made my own with EOs I already had instead of buying it and being disappointed and out a lot of money!), but I was very pleasantly surprised that it worked pretty well. I use it for the whole 15 minutes and am always pretty pleased to find the pimple much reduced in size and redness. For all over treatment, I really like an aspirin mask made with honey.

I will admit that I have a really bad habit of picking blemishes. I'm trying to break it, but it's really hard! That said, I truly believe that if a blemish is really big and painful and you can see the (gross!) contents of it, that it may be beneficial to pop it very, very carefully. I guess in my mind, by popping it, the pressure, so to speak, is relieved and healing can begin. Just be sure to apply an antibiotic, like Neosporin, to it afterward.

One more thing...I've found that if I use a product for too long, my skin becomes resistant to it and it is no longer an effective treatment. I used one product for a while, it stopped working as well as it had, got a big zit a few months later, thought "why not?" and tried said product, and much to my surprise the blemish was nearly gone the next day. I like to use one product for a while and then move on to another so my skin doesn't stop reacting to any one thing. Maybe my skin is just weird like that!

Ok, that's enough for now--I just realized how long this post is!!

Nimue, if you mean the homemade Yonka, it's actually a recipe by carekate that I found here on the DIY page. Here's the link (the recipe is toward the bottom of the page):

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5981&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=50

I've read that (like just about everything) it doesn't work for everyone. I opted to make my own since I had all but one of the EOs in the recipe already on hand. It seems like some of them were kinda pricey, but again, for me this was the cheaper option. And now that I have them all and can keep making it, it's a lot more cost effective (the Yonka product is not cheap). If you don't have the EOs on hand, you may want to try and get a sample of the Yonka just to make sure it works for you. Then if it does, invest in the EOs. Hope it works for you as well as it has for me!

Just 3 months b4 I got job in Sanfran for which I need to do Bart journey for 45 min one way...and i broke out like crazy...even b4 starting riding bart i used to have acne but now they are like crazy big red cyst kind of all over my face and they were really painful...I stopped using all makeup and..good clothes also i was so demoralised that what ever i'll wear will not look good so whats the point...then I went to doctor to check hormonal tests..everything was fine but she gave me birthpills to help with acne..In addition I started following routine:-

1)always apply sunscreen and during bart journey cover my face with scarf..look kindof awkward but i prefer to do it to save my face.
2)then I bought wet face cloth and moment i enter my office i clean my face with those wet wipes and apply sunscreen again
3)apply adaplene gel (kind of vit A) every alternate night.
4) apply neem face mask(kind of puryfying mask) pack every night.
5)start using citaphil cleanser which is very mild i wont say its best as it doesnt clean deeply but as my skin is sensitive and m using adaplene gel then i need something mild otherwise i develop rashes and more acne. I take care of deep cleaning by cleaning my face with mild hot water and messaging citaphil for few minutes. then clean with toner and neem mask.
6) Start using correctionist balancing toner picked up at sallys...not sure if its good not
it is mildest with no alcohol..and these days m just searching only mild products in routine and no acid as i used to do..and relying on just single exfoliating product that is adaplene.. and rest all mild products.
And thats it..nthing else..no moisturizer no makeup..nothing
Its been almost 3 weeks. and my acne is under control. and have much better though not entire clean up but believe me it is really much better...I am going to followup same routine..throughtout my life... adaplene is mildest form of vita..it help with acne plus help in removing scars also.
After one more month I am planning to add good mild moisturizer for acne prone skin and vitamin C. I also have vitC, A,Bcomlex and iron internally..and started having good diet(atleast better than earlier) and am now very positive to have good skin tone..around..next 2 months...not expecting immediate result..trying to be patient and stick to simple routine instead of loading my face with range of products..as i did in past in want of good skin instantly..

I agree. When I first used PSF acne mud mask, it was AMAZING. But after about 2 jars, I've found that its not as effective as it used to be, so I've quit using that.

When I get pimples, I tend to use:
- Hydrocortisone cream
- Retin-A 0.05% (I used RA 0.025% all over face every night)
- Jan Marini acne gel II

These three products usually deflate the pimple and makes it come to a head. Nowadays, I only squeeze the pimples that has a yellow-head, cos I've got too many red marks from when I used to squeeze my pimples til it bled.

I like Juice Beauty for acne issues. The antioxidant serum seems to work well for me.

I have these little jars of zinc paste from Russia. I don't even know what's in it besides the zinc, but it works for me! I think you could buy paste in the drug store. Some sunscreens or baby diaper creams have high percentages of zinc...

Thanks! It seems like a lot of work, but I'll keep this in mind.
