Im new here, so sorry if this question was already answered somewhere... i looked but couldn't find anything.

I heard about the lip pump system and saw some people talking about it on this forum... i was wondering if anyone knows/can guess how it works...
i first assumed it caused increased bloodflow to the lips.
i saw on youtube (dont know url.. this was a while ago) some guy from brava (i think) invented some sort of 'breast pump' bra thing that was supposed to inc breast size by 1 ml/day if you wore it 10h. (LOL i know weird!). the results were supposed to be permanent. (therefore frequent use of lip pump may also have permanent results)

i thought (please corrent me if im wrong) that increased blood flow to lips/scars/breasts/thighs was supposed to promote the carrying-off (by means of bloodstream) of collagen/fat molecules/cellulite.
so maybe thats not what the pump does.
also, if this is the case, then wouldnt products that do definetly increase blood flow to skin (ie cinnamon/pepper/menthol for lips) eventually reduce collagen in lip area? i know rubbing coffee-based lotions and scrubs on your thighs reduces collagen, and i read somewhere (dont know where, source may not be reliable) that products stimulating blood flow will shrink your boobs if you put them on the skin there on a very regular basis (god knows why you would... haha). BASICALLY what im worried about is that those cheap stinging lip-plumpers will remove precious collagen.

oh, and heres a rather useless story that i feel compelled to share simply because it has to do with lips:
It seems i have accidentally come up with anyother method of increasing lip size, however this is NOT something i would reccomend!
around two weeks ago i accidentally burnt my lips pretty badly (big blisters and such). ouch Sad they were HUGE for a few days (would have been thrilled if they werent also peeling and if i didnt know the reason they were this big was a burn).
when it healed, my upper lip (cupids bow area) was scarred. it wasnt too bad, though. actually to tell the truth i sort of like it better the way it is now! its not really obvious that its a scar, and since scars are basically outgrowths of collagen its not as drastic a difference as it would be on normal skin.

[please excuse any obnoxious spelling/grammar mistakes. bad habit of mine!]

Hi, I must say it is not so easy to read...

I don't think it pumps the lips by increasing the blood flow. If the blood flow does increase, then you will feel your lip is getting hotter, because blood brings more heat.

I personally think whether a lp is full depends on collagen. For young people, the lines might come from dehydration. FOr old people, they might come from loss of collagen.

HOw those lip stuffs works is probably by regulating your neurons at lip, so they will relaxed, and the smooth muscles at your lip will relax , then they fill in the lines.

THis is my guess according to some knowledge on certain drugs to smooth the wrinkles.

Pumping, of lips, breasts (brava etc) and mens bits...works to increase size by a scientifically respected method of tension induced tissue growth. I think basically, you put tissue under tension regularly enough and the cells divide and grow and so on.

Yes, this is the closest to fact if anything...if it even works.

Pumping will increase blood in the area due to the negative pressure and possible pooling of blood.

However it won't bring more collagen through the blood...or cause nerve endings to change relaxing muscles. If anything it'll just cause a temporary increase of substance P (pain neurotransmitter lol).

I really doubt that this works though, or penis pumps would be a household thing!

Wrinkle relaxers such as Botox work because they act as antagonistic neurotransmitters, they bind to the same spots as neurotransmitters that tell your muscles to move and prevent them from binding. That's how they work...any physical alteration of the skin won't have that effect unless you damage the skin to the point of rendering it essentially useless and dead.

1. I do agree that the damage can make rebuld-up of the skin therefore removing the wrinkles.

2. I think in order to judge how a lip pump works, we need to see how long it takes to really plump your lip. If it works gradually in about 28 days, it is probaly due to what you say, tension effect to reorient the cell growth direction.

However, If it takes only one night, then it must be some neuron signal factors.

3. I really doubt the idea that you can orient the cell growth by tension force. You can certainly make it if you kill certain cells around some region, then the remaining cells will get "cheated" to go certain directions you want.

Now if this force is from something outside your lip, it won't work, because all the cells are tightly packed together and no space for them to move.
