I bought Ayurvedic Aloevera Face & Body Sun Protection SPF-75. This sunscreen does not contain usual chemical or sunblock ingredients, but rather natural ones. It feels great on the skin, lotion like.
I am interested if anyone has had experience with such sunscreen, or has any thoughts on how effective it might be. Here is info on the sunscreen:

This is my impression too. At the same time it is sold as Ayurvedic SPF, meaning non-traditional .... so I hope that someone can explain if it works as claimed.
I got it from India, where it is produced, maybe someone from India can provide some input. The web site I purchased it from also has Ayurvedic SPF30. |

Is there any scientific data backing up the spf qualities of those ingredients? |

I inquired with a distributor regarding sunscreen effectiveness, and here is a response:
Thank you for the recent mail message.
The product is manufactured by Biotique (www.biotique.com), which is one of the most leading herbal cosmetic brands. You can also visit: http://biotique.com/sunprotectors.jsp
Based on the manufacturer's product warranty, we assure you that the product is effective.
With warm regards

Anything over 30 isn't that much more effective...
I use the Keys-Soap sunscreen and it's ingredients are therapeutic and contain zinc too. |

I used it and it is not heavy at all, it does not contain "normal" sun protection ingredients, that make sunscreens heavy. The main thing is that they do not contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. And feel fairly light.
If you follow the link they have a variety of strengths http://biotique.com/sunprotectors.jsp |

That is far too high and it is meaningless with any SPF over 30.
Do remember you need to re apply every 2-3 hours.
SPF75 does not give any more protection to a SPF30 sun cream. |

The opinions I am looking for in regard to effectiveness of this non-chemical, non-usual-sunblock sun protection. Regardless of the strength. |
