Help! I fell in love with Air Stockings (spray on leg makeup) in the Natural shade a couple of years ago. I use it for special occasions, and it makes my legs look awesome. I have fair skin and a lot of little spider veins, and I often have bruises everywhere because I am very active in sports and dance and pretty hard on my skin. The Air Stockings hid all that.
The problem is that I just went to order more and now I can't find anyone that sells the full-size cans in the Natural shade anymore. Even links that say they do are actually selling the darker shades (e.g., Terracotta), which do not look natural on me. Can anyone recommend a similar leg makeup that looks natural and is easy to use? (It doesn't have to be spray-on.) |

What?!!!!!
Blimey, I do hope they aren't discontinuing it! Otherwise, I'll never be able to show my legs during the summer again!
Have you tried the Sally Hansen version? I haven't myself but it might be a possible substitute. |

I do also hope they aren't discontinuing it!!!
I`ve never heard of such a thing, but it sounds just fantastic and would be the only possibility for me also to show my legs! |

You haven't tried it before, Aiva?
Well, then, I can very highly recommend it. Gives beautiful, natural coverage. My hideously pale legs are often slightly blotchy and I have one or two small blue veins, plus I used to have lots of ingrowing hair scars (no more, though, thankfully, after laser hair removal). AirStocking has always covered these completely and made my legs look so smooth, with perfect skin. I've even had compliments on them!
It's easy to apply - just shake the can vigorously for a while, then spray. Always make sure to cover the surrounding area in something like newspapers or polythene to prevent the product ending up on your floors or walls. You then lightly smooth it over your legs, leave to dry completely - and there you go!
It stays on even if you get wet - through rain, even when I've been canoeing or swimming! You need to remove it with soap and water, when you're ready to get rid of the colour.
If you do try it, I'd love to hear what you think. Hope it works for you as well as it works for me. |

Hi, majorb! What shade do you use? Like I mentioned, I think it's impossible to get the Natural shade anywhere now (except for one place that is selling the itty bitty trial size cans for $10, and I e-mailed them and they don't have many cans left). I've been searching online, and only a few places are selling Air Stocking at all, and only in the Terracotta and Cocoa shades. I'm so bummed.
I tried the Sally Hanson a while ago and did not like it. They may have changed the formula by now though. I'll probably give it another go.
I'd love to hear about any other leg makeup--Dermablend, Tarte's Glam Gams (cute name), etc. |

majorb, thank you so much for the explanations!
if it works for me, then it would be my HG for the summer!!!
Having blue varicose veins and purple vein stars, I`m so embarrased of showing my legs and in fact stopped thinking of wearing skirts in summer.
More to that, my legs are also hideously pale and it takes eternity or going to the sea to get sun-kissed |

Jeannine and majorb (if you also use Natural shade) - I have just ordered some Air Stocking staff from ebay. This seller has some more of that on sale - here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIR-STOCKINGS-NATURAL-X3-NEW-JUST-4-89-WOW-ON-SALE_W0QQitemZ200220462269QQcmdZViewItem
it is a lot for 3 normal size (120g) cans, and there are still 2 lots available.
I`ve purchased from this seller for the 1st time, so cannot recommend of course, but 3 cans cost 4.78 GBP plus shipping 3 GBP, what is not a huge amount of money if smth goes wrong.
I`ve pirchased from him/her, cause he/she is Great Britain based, and I`m in Germany, but if you`re in US, just make a seach on ebay.com and there are one or two US-based sellers.
bad luck for me though - german post office has announced a strike from this Friday - so I can wait for my parcel for ages |

Jeannine - I use Natural. The other colours are way too dark/orangey for my skin. If they stop making Natural, then I couldn't use any of their other colours as a viable alternative, sadly.
If it's any help, I've also tried Rimmel Sunshimmer and MAC Face & Body Foundation. Neither gave anywhere near as good a coverage, nor lasted so long, nor were as easy to use as AirStocking. Don't know about those others you mentioned, though.
Aiva - You're very welcome. It should work nicely on those veins, as it does on mine. And thank you so much for the ebay tip! |

majorb, has a can normally an expiry date? - I asked this ebay-seller about expiry dates of the cans, and he/she answered that there is no expiry, they are forever lasting.
is it true? |

Thanks, Aiva, for the Ebay tip. Regarding the Ebay seller telling you that there is no expiry date, I think that's false. I'm pretty sure that the product will go bad after awhile (ingredients in just about all products breakdown, separate, turn)--how long it will take before it goes bad is the real issue.
I would imagine that the product will be okay for 2 years, provided that it is stored properly (cool, dry environment; do not keep in the bathroom!). An issue is that you don't know the product's history (e.g., how long the seller had it or how the seller stored it). Not knowing the history is why I tend to stay away from Ebay and the like for skincare products. |

Jeannine, you`re right about not knowing product`s history and I understand your concerns, but I will still take the risk here.
anyway, there seems to be not much of alternatives.
here is what exactly the Ebay seller answered me when I asked about the expiry date:
"hi there is no expiry, they are forever lasting thankyou. they were purchased from the factory just 1 month ago."
- so I`m assuming the products are still ok after 1 month of life. we`ll see |

I might be taking that risk right along with you if I don't hear of a substitute. Desperate measures... |

If any of you are near a TJ Maxx, you might want to check there. They had about 10 or so cans discounted at my local TJM a couple of months ago...I picked one up in the "natural" shade just because it was so inexpensive, and I do have a few spider veins on my ankles that could use a little covering. Haven't tried it yet, but glad to know it's good stuff |

Sorry, I've no idea. Cans that I've had for over a year - and ones I've also purchased in T K Maxx - still work fine, if that helps. |

Aiva - I've just received my eBay items - but I'm afraid they're not the correct ones. Thought I'd best warn you and anyone else thinking of buying them from this seller.
Today, I received 3 small 57g Air Silk products, not the Air Stocking promised in the photo and text.
I've emailed the seller to let them know that this is not at all what I expected.
I know it wasn't a lot of money but it's very annoying when sellers do this. It did look like a good deal, Aiva but I think we've been conned. |

The buyer has just contacted with with this:
"hi , they are def the correct product, they are called air silk stockings thankyou."
Having compared the packaging to one of my old Air Stocking boxes, although they are very different, I now think there is a chance that they might be the same product - but in either an old or different format.
Here's my reply to the seller:
"Luckily, I still have a spare box of Air Stocking and have compared it with the 3 you sent me.
As you can see from the photo on your auction when compared to the actual ones you sent, the packaging is very different and the name on the front is different - "Air Silk Spray-on Silk Hoisery" rather than "Air Stocking". The aerosol cans are very different, too. However, having looked at the two different types of boxes, the manufacturer does seem to be the same and the ingredients list, although in a different order, is the same. The three you sent me do actually have "Air Stocking" written on the back, I now notice, too.
Perhaps the ones you sent are either made for a different market by the same company or are old packaging?
In any case, as long as they perform as well as the original Air Stocking pictured in the auction photos, I'll be happy.
What I would recommend, though, is that it might be a good idea to change the photo of the box in your auction to photos of the actual products. Otherwise this will confuse people, as it has done with me. You could tell people in your auction that the product is made by the people who make Air Stocking and with the same ingredients. A picture of the back of the packet would show this.
Hope you don't mind my suggestion. It's just that you'll probably otherwise end up with other buyers contacting you about it." |

Thanks for the update, majorb! I'm going to try all the TJ Maxx's this weekend, and if that doesn't work, I may go with the ebay seller. |

majorb, I`m really sorry for you and for me too, and I`ve also ordered from this seller
I always look at the seller`s feedback, and it seemed to be ok here.
you`ve been so generous to him/her to give the neutral feedback.
we`ve left only with a hope that this Air silk would work as well as the original Air Stocking for us. But still anyway - if it would, these are not 120g cans, but 57g, and it is a fraud.
so Jeannine was right, however I haven`t had any bad experience with e-bay till now |

I'd be wary of buying from the ebay seller, Jeannine. They are only a small size, not the 120g - only 57g instead. Plus, I'm still not sure that they are definitely the correct Air Stocking.
Good luck with TJ Maxx, though!
Avia - It's a real bummer, isn't it? We'll just have to keep looking, I'm afraid. |

yes, it IS a bummer!!
majorb, please let me know how you find these Air Silk ones. Being the Air Stocking user with experience, you can judge how these are compared to the original ones. |

sooo, Jeannine`s question is still relevant
where can we still find Air Stocking in Natural shade?
or
what other products can be used instead with the same success? |
