Ok I have read it all, but what really works for everyone that has undereye puffiness? I was thinking of ordering PSF cranberry eye gel but before I place yet another order for a product out there I as hoping to get feedback.
I have used prevage (good but a bit $$$), Obagi Elastiderm (not too impressed), Philosophy, the list goes on and on...... |

I am the queen of under-eye puffiness. My issue is fat deposits. No topical can get rid of ones fat deposits. If such a product comes out the manufacturer will make a fortune.
I use a few products to help keep the bags firm. If just left alone over time the under eye area will lose elasticity and sag.
PSF Cranberry Eye Gel is a wonderful product for temporarily firming the area. The ingredients in the gel over time will be beneficial to your eye area. Know that PSF Gel is not moisturizing. I suggest you also use a moisturizer of your liking on top of the gel.
If your puffies are not fat deposits you will have better results from a topical. Either way, puffiness should be handled. Currently I am starting a facial exercise program. I am not expecting it to get rid of the fat deposits but firm and make the eye area look better. Will let you know how it works. |

Honestly, the only thing that reduces my under eye puffiness is Preparation H. You can laugh, but it really works. |

Sienna, you are correct!! Prep H deflates my fat deposits nicely for several hours. I have not used it in a very long time. Somehow I don't think it is the best thing to put on the delicate eye area. In saying that, I would not hesitate to use it if I was extremely puffy and wanted to look my best. Fortunately, I wear glasses. Where the rim of my glasses hit one would hardly notice my bags. I hate the way I look in contacts. |

This is my worst problem, and it seems to be getting worse by the minute. Depressing.
I am going to try and cut out caffeine (though I love coffee!) and soda, cut right down on salt, drink twice as much water as I usually do, do a daily gentle eye massage with jojoba, sleep an hour longer and with two pillows in an attempt to see if that makes a difference (I'm also experimenting with the Derma Wand). Some of the eye creams I've used are better than others at firming the area, but I don't believe there is a miracle topical cure, so I'm going to really try and improve it from the inside.
I also need to find a better concealer. I've been using Lauren Hutton and while I like the spot concealers the undereye concealer is a bit too light and sheer. I need something with a bit more oomph that's not cakey! |

I, like Winnie believe my eye bag is fatty deposits. I say bag and not bags as it tends to be one eye more than the other, and really, its not massive, but there all the same and in time it will get bigger. Ive given up looking for something to de puff cause I dont think such a thing exists. Ive seen lots of eye operations on the tv and you can clearly see the fat deposits on the skin they take off. Im not squeemish Reading the post about giving up caffeine is interesting - I dont drink tea or coffee myself but have wondered about applying caffeine topically - well if it does wonders (alledgedly) for cellulite - which is fatty deposits, wouldnt it do the same for the eyes? Not sure if making a paste from ground coffee and slapping it on will work though |

I have not tried Juara yet, but did try Coffee Bean one - did nothing for me, neither did Strivectin. I am still looking. |

Vita K is good choice because the vitamin K can stimulate blood around your eyes. |

I HATE my under eye puffiness...I just turned 40 and it appeared..what a present..It's mainly in the inner corners but it is soooo UGLY..I have been using cellconet in the pm and bath and body works coffee bean caffein eye cream in am. I also read that vit c helps so I have been drinking a cup of emergen c (1000 vit c) in am. Puffiness has diminished some but still there.

I tried the Coffee Bean Cream, PSF Cranberry, and currently trying Dremu Airbrush. I think mine is hereditary also. None of the creams made any noticeable difference, until I started doing facial exercises. My bags are not gone, but have gone diminished in appearance. If I stop the facial exercises for any length of time, they come back like before. The facial exercises seem to help the most. |

Been there and tried that with the coffee grounds on my dreaded bags.. It burned like the devil, and really irritated that sensitive area.
My Mom has the same thing, and has been applying an ice pack on it for about 20 minutes each morning, and they are much improved. I tried it once or twice, but ran out of patience before it worked for me.
Derma Wand helps tremendously if used everyday. I also notice less swelling the day after, I watch my salt intake + drink plenty of water.
If I weren't such a chicken, I would love to have it surgically removed. |

Kassy, I know you've probably answered this elsewhere but I've searched and can't find it. Do you do something specific with the Derma Wand for the undereye area? I've been a bit cautious, and am currently just running it along the bone directly under the undereye area from the nose to the temple, then holding it at the temple for a few seconds, on Level 1 (as I don't want to cause any broken caps in this delicate area). So far I've not seen any results.
I looked at some of the facial exercises specifically targeting the undereye area, and one of them in particular looks good as there's no pulling of the skin: take the three middle fingers and place them on the top of the bone that is under the undereye area, then "push" your fingers upwards, causing your eye to squint (but without wrinkling your eyebrow). |

Lots of people seem to have some success with the Remergent Microcirculation Cream. I like Juvena Juvedical Eye Serum for helping combat undereye puffiness. I usually use it underneath another eye cream and it works perfectly. |

For undereye puffiness, I've heard people using the Oxylight or Dermawand have gotten good results.
Also, Scotslass posted a great drainage massage technique:
Quote: |
Take your index or ring fingers and press them on either side of your nose between your eyes. Gently rub this area by slowly rotating the tips of your fingers around and around in tiny circles. Move down your nose slowly along your sinus passage while paying attention for any slight pressure. Take care and you will definitely notice it! Work you way down in a C pattern across the top of your cheeks and out toward the edge of your face. This is where your sinus passages are and what you are doing is basically massaging them so that any pressure is released.
Next, take your ring and middle fingers and tap gently all over the puffy areas (all around your eyes to further stimulate the lymph nodes). Finish it all up with a cool splash of water!!! |
On the current dry brushing thread, they also are talking about how to handle the undereye area:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=361999#361999
I would think any facial brushing would help with lymph drainage - even if you didn't work on the fragile undereye area.... |

Right you are, my quote follows, which I copied from the "Everyone Seems To Use Derma Wand" thread;
After MUCH trial and error, I finally have the eye area routine worked out for myself. Here's what works for me;
I place one hand horizontally across my forehead, and pull upward, causing the muscles to elevate and become taught. With the dial at about 4 I lightly circle the wand around the entire eye area 10 times, (staying on the bony structure). I then turn the dial to 9, and following the same circular pattern, place and hold the wand for a count of 5 around the whole eye area. Lifting for the count, on the top area of the eye, and just pressing and holding on my dreaded bags..
I also spend some time lifting and holding the whole forehead. (It's a piece of cake once you get over the initial horrid feeling).
Kassy
ETA: I now turn the dial to about 7 for the eye area. I also put plenty of cream or lotion on prior, and just spritz with water, to keep the DW from pulling. One other tip; DO NOT use it AFTER applying any vitamin C product. It will oxidize it!

Thanks so much for that, Kassy, that's a very helpful description. I have been following the DVD instructions and have kept the dial on 1 for the eye area - perhaps I need to slowly increase it and see how I go.
And it might be my imagination but I think I've seen some results in the last three days since I started doing the eye exercises, drinking more water, eating less salt and making sure I leave enough time each morning for a 10-minute rose water soak.
I am on a mission to sort this out! |
