Hi everybody. My first review, so please bear with me.

Product review: Dr. Hauschka Deodorant Floral

I have been orbiting around this deodorant, purely based on the scent for a few weeks. In the end, I caved in and bought it. The blurb says:
For all skin conditions
A natural deodorant roll-on with a light, natural floral scent. Effectively reduces odor without the use of antiperspirants or strong antimicrobials.
* Zinc ricinoleate reduces odor without disturbing the skin's natural functions
* Extracts of neem and sage strengthen and balance delicate skin
* Subtle, natural floral scent from pure essential oils
* Recommended in conjunction with Body Wash Floral and Body Silk

Full Ingredient List for Deodorant Floral
Water (Aqua), Alcohol, Triethyl Citrate, Glycerin, Castor (Ricinus Communis) Oil, Fragrance/Parfum (essential oil), Zinc Ricinoleate, Bentonite, Sage (Salvia Officinalis) Extract, Neem (Melia Azadirachta) Leaf Extract, Geraniol, Linalool, Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, Farnesol, Benzyl Benzoate, Eugenol, Benzyl Alcohol, Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Jojoba (Buxus Chinensis) Wax, Sucrose Laurate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Rose (Rosa Damascena) Essential Oil

Did it live up to its scent? YES
Did it work as a deodorant? NO - I was "smelly" within an hour of use. (Please note that I'm a low-medium "smelly" person).
Did I use "in conjunction with Body Wash Floral and Body Silk"? No, but come on.
Did it leave white marks? YES

So, I now use it on top of my trusted "Secret Platinum" deodorant and leave it to dry for a good 10-15 minutes as I'm getting ready. Smells wonderful.

Morale of story, buy the Dr. H deodorants if you're interested in the smell but don't expect them to perform as deodorants. Would I repurchase? I hope not.

Agent OO-CAT, thank you for your review.
Unfortunately, I found that none of the natural deodorants do the job for me, so I had to come back to chemical ones. Sad

Please don't give up on it! I have persuaded so many of my friends to dump their chemically loaded deodorants and stick with this, your body will adjust and after about a week you will notice that you don't smell any more.

I was unhappy when I seen this review because it was after I had ordered Dr. Hauschka's deodorant in floral scent based on some other reviews from other websites. I figured oh well what am I going to do about it now except try it for myself....
I use to use Dove moisturizing cucumber deodorant and sometimes Mitchum on days when I thought I would really be sweaty and stinky.

It is my third day using the deodorant, two of the days I went to the gym. I am really happy with it and I sweat a lot! The first day at the gym I refused to take off my hoodie because I thought I might stink, but when I left I checked and I had VERY MINIMAL smell. I would say comparable to what I normally would using the other two deodorants. The second was better, but I still bring it in my gym bag just in case.
I find the smell to be "different" - I can't put my finger on what ingredient I smell but I wouldn't say really floral smelling, but nonetheless pleasant.

Overall, I am happy after purchasing my first natural deodorant. I think it is worth the big price tag!

I almost bought this deodorant, since it received good reviews but I ended up purchasing a natural body crystal (at Shopper's Drug Mart) for $6.99 just to save some money and I'm so glad I did. It works like a charm, will last forever and the only ingredient is mineral salt - doesn't get more natural than that! I always hated the smell of BO mixed with the scent of deodorant. Now I lift my arm and smell absolutely NOTHING! I'm a runner, so I sweat A LOT and this works.

CMAYC - how can there be nothing at all?? Shock Do you know how it works?
Do your armpits still get wet?

I might look at purchasing this as well for when I am in field camp - I don't like to use any smells since I am working outdoors with bugs Neutral

I use this too (the Crystal Rock) and it's amazing how it works. I just use it as I get out the shower, before drying off. You are supposed to wet the stick so that way I don't have to.

I agree that it works. I simply smell nothing. It doesn't stop the sweating but that part doesn't bother me and I think sweating is healthy.

I've been eyeing the Haushcka deodorant but I just can't swing the price.

But having said that, my German mother-in-law loves all things Hauschka and she highly recommends the deodorant.

michelec thanks for the extra info. I am very interested in this product. I don't mind sweating, although it is taking a bit to get use to wet marks Confused

Does the Crystal Rock take a "learning period" too or does it work right away?
