Lamas is a 100% vegan line so it is botanically based and cruelty free. This is a really affordable line that is even cheaper if you purchase the beauty kits because some come with a full size gift. Here are some reviews of Lamas products I am currently using.
Face & Body Wash w/ Vitamin C
I thought this might be too strong because of the Vitamin C, but it is surprisingly gentle. I love this, but I don't care for the orange smell. It's my bias, I don't like citrus smells in products. I've even used this on my face. It is superb at removing all makeup. However, I won't use it on my face on a regular basis because I don't care for foaming gel cleansers because I feel like I'm washing with liquid soap. So I'm sticking to the cleansing milk I use, albeit doesn't do the greatest job of removing all my eye makeup. But if you want a cleanser that's versatile for face and body, gentle, has vitamin C, and really foams then you will love this.
Pro-Vita C moisturizer SPF 15
This is for all skin types. I was very concerned though, because in the past my skin hasn't reacted well to Vitamin C products. But I really wanted to try this because one, it won a Healthy Beauty award in 2002 for best moisturizer, two it has SPF 15 (and I have been really wanting a day moisturizer with SPF) and three it has ingredients I like such as Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E and other benficial stuff for the skin. I am sad to say I was disappointed in this. I really really was hoping this would by THE a.m. moisturizer. But the search continues (sighs). I'm glad to say that it didn't irritate my skin at all. But what I don't like is that when I put my makeup on over it, it flakes in the horrible yucky strings. I can't describe it, you would have to experience a moisturizer that has done this before to know what I mean. Thumbs down. And it has orange essential oil so it smells like citrus. They do have a $ back guarantee, but it's not worth the hassle for me to mail it, plus I threw away the receipt, so I'll use it on my body.
Soy nourishing moisturizer
ah, this is more like it. A night cream that absorbs perfectly, no stringy mess, no scent. For all skin types. I might seriously consider repurchasing this because it feels so nice.
Soy hydrating shampoo
This is for chemically treated or dry damaged hair. Perfect for someone who colors/highlights their hair monthly like me. I don't care for this, it's bland. Not to mention it contains sandlewood which is endangered. They should be more conscious than this.
Soy Balancing Conditioner
This is my favorite Lamas product. I will definitely get this, but I'll try the rice protein shampoo next time instead of the soy. This smells sooo darn good. I love it and it leaves my hair soft and smelling good all day. Love this!! A star product.
I've also tried the lash masque which I don't care for. My eyes are too sensitive to wear it at night, and in the day it does nothing for me. So in summary, I'll be purchasing the soy balancing conditioner, and the Vitamin C face & body wash again. Maybe the soy p.m. cream, and want to try the rice shampoo. |

Thoughtcrime - can you tell me a bit more about the lash masque? Are we talking a mascara type lash treatment? I'm always on the lookout for anything that prommises to condition my lashes and my eyes are not sensitive so this could be a goer...
I know what you mean about creams rolling off your face in bits too Clarins Flash Balm used to do this to me, as well as Olay Total Effects. |

Hi Mabsy,
Lash masque is meant to be worn at night to condition, and supposedly make your lashes longer, thicker and darker. It can also be worn during the day under or in place of mascara. It looks like a mascara. I don't know how some can use it in place of a mascara, it is so light that I can't even see it when I put it on. It's hard to tell if I got anything out of that wand. Some even use it to fill eyebrows, and I tried that and it looked terrible and unnatural. I'll stick with pencil, thank-you. I used it for about 2 weeks and threw it out because I couldn't tolerate it at night with allergies and itchy eyes. I'd wake up in the morning with it smeared all over because I had been rubbing my eyes in my sleep. I also noticed no changes at all, but 2 weeks may not be enough time to see results. But this is just my opinion, I know there is a forum user out there whose names escapes me, who loves lash masque who could probably tell you more about their positive experiences with it. You can also read reviews on their website, but they are going to be biased because they don't post negative experiences.www.lamasbeauty.com.
p.s. why do some moisturizers ball up like that, it's so icky and makes it impossible to put makeup over without a flaky mess! |

Thanks Thoughtcrime!
It was Liz (abejita) who said she liked it. I just placed an order for it today so should get it in about 10 days. Didn't buy it off the lamasbeauty website though. US$27 for sending (via airmail) a mascara sized product!? What are they on??!!
Liz - are you still liking this? I guess it's a bit too late for me because I already ordered but I wouldn't mind some reassurance while I await my parcel

Hi Mabsy, where did you order it from, if you don't mind me asking? $27 for shipping, that's almost double the price of the product---are they out of their minds?! I always order from the Lama website, they have super deals. I decided to return that a.m. moisturizer and shampoo. It turns out I don't need a receipt, I'm already in the computer system. |

Thoughtcrime - got it from a place called Heavenly Skin. $16 plus around $6 postage. I've never heard anything about Heavenly Skin but here's hoping that everything goes well with my order Very impressed with the LamasBeauty returns policy though!
Btw, the $27 shipping on LamasBeauty is basically flat rate shipping - that's what they do. That may work out well if you want to buy loads of stuff but I just wanted this teeny tiny little thing...

My Lamas Lash Masque arrived last week and I've been using it for a few days. I quite like it actually. I don't think it darkens lashes enough for me but I do like it as a mascara substitute during the day. I'm about to start using this day&night now so I can figure out if it really does condition the lashes etc etc
Thanks for mentioning this product Thoughtcrime! I know you didn't like it due to your eye sensitivity but your post made me aware of its existence I've been looking for a lash conditioner product to try (already tried Mavala and Talika....).

Great Mabsy,
let me know after you've used it for a while which one you like the best. Wow, I can't believe you can use lash masque in place of your regular mascara. You must not have thin, sparse, straight, lashes like mine. |

Well, I can tell you straight away today that I think I won't be using this stuff overnight. I woke up with black flaked off bits all over under my eyes and on my eyelids. Perhaps I was a bit greedy and put on too much of it
I don't really have thick lashes but I don't really like thickening mascaras. Possibly because I have not found one that claims to thicken while not leaving my lashes all clumpy. I must say that I do apply a fair bit of the lash masque to get the desired effect. My lashes end up looking just a tad darker - more defined I guess. I like that natural look |

Thanks Ladies. I just ordered the shampoo line, (Soy and one bottle of rice cond). I have dry and colored hair. I hope this will bring my hair back to life. Thanks. I will give my feed back after use. |

Well I can update and say that I am liking the Lash Masque more and more every day I don't want to go on record yet and say that it has made my lashes darker/longer because I think at the moment I might be at the stage where you think your lashes are longer because you want them to be But so far me likey! |

wow Mabsy, that's great! Maybe I should give it another chance...
Though I can't wear it over night... I have very sensitive eyes....
Is it the best brand you've used? Better than Talika? |

Thoughtcrime,
It seems to be better than Talika and Mavala. That could also be because I am using it day and night (only using a bit at night after all the flaking the first time). With the other two I only used them at night because they didn't provide any color.
I'll give it another few weeks before I decide but I think I might be repurchasing this after this one finishes

I have been using Lash Masque for 4 days. I really like it.
Reasons:
It darkens my lashes and brows.
I hate mascara as it bothers my eyes when wearing contacts. Lash Masque doesn't.
Lash Masque doesn't seem to irritate my VERY sensitive eyes. I get bags from the slighest irritation.
Stays put and doesn't run under my eye.
Thanks to those who recommended it!!!
I save mascara for when I want to look extra good. I have been wearing navy mascara. It really does make my eyes look brighter. |

Glad you like it Winnie. I'm still using this and I also only reach for mascara when I need that extra oomph! On a daily basis the Lamas does a good job. It only darkens the lashes (no lengthening or thickening) but that's exactly what I need! Do you use it at night also or just as a mascara substitute in the morning? |

Mabsy,
I use the Lash Masque night and day. I was a little concerned using it at night because of problems with my eyes puffing up. No problem as of yet.
Love this on my brows. Just fills them in enough so I don't need brow pencil. I am not much for makeup.
Almost forgot: I read that you can use it for eyeliner and it looks lovely and natural AND STAYS PUT (read that on Lamus website reviews). Will try that today.
Off to PA tomorrow to see my son. Will talk to all next week. |
