I'm a little confused on the primers. I use a pressed mineral powder foundation - Jane Iredale. I don't have very oily skin and in fact the foundation seems to be something that makes your skin look dryer as it is being a powder that sits on top of your skin to catch the texture of a powder in certain lights, you know. They have a primer and there are plenty of other primers. Yet before I spend a ton more on something, I want to know if it would do anything for me at all? Thanks. |

Hi BYRG,
I started using a primer this year with my MMU as it was settling into lines around my mouth- this really helped and it also kept away the afternoon shine on my forehead and nose- all day matte look. This month I have switched to Lauren Hutton's Aqua Elements and have found I do not need the primer. |

Thanks. I got the Jane Iredale primer and it is ghastly white. It is supposed to be transparent but it leaves a pale pasty white glow. |

I've been using JI pressed foundation for a couple of years -- i think this will be my 3rd summer using it. I don't use a "primer", but I apply Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil before the JI pressed base. I find that the under-layer of MV helps to keep my face from getting shiny in heat/humidity, and the JI base seems to go on smoother. I tried this with other "finishing powders" and silk powders and got good results with those, too, so I don't think the success depends on the first layer being BE MV specifically.
Just wanted to mention that I apply the BE MV about 30 minutes after my moisturizer/sunscreen has settled into my skin. |
