Please could someone explain what types of cleanser are suitable for the different types of skin.
I have just received my Yonka Gel Cleanser and to my absolute horror when I used it for the first time tonight it seemed to leave my skin very dry. It might just be because it was the first time I'd used it. However, the only other gel cleanser I've tried in the past was Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and that also left me with very dry skin.
I always considered myself to have oily skin but perhaps my age (just hit 30) and having just started using Decleor Neroli Oil and the Essential Balm has balanced my skin out a bit and made it a bit more 'normal'.
I generally use a foaming cleanser at night and these sorts of cleansers have always been ok but recently my faithful cleansing foam has been causing dryness on my chin and nose.
I introduced a cream cleanser to my morning routine about 2 months ago and while initially it seemed too rich for my skin it now seems to be working quite well for me (again perhaps this is due to the Decleor balancing my skin out).
I'm not sure which type of cleanser I should be using. I like to use something that I can rinse off with water. Milk cleansers don't really appeal to me unless they are quite thick. Definately no runny stuff!
I have a history of problem skin although a recent elimination of dairy products and caffeine from my diet seems to be sorting the spots out and so anything too rich and creamy may only aggravate the spot problem.
Is it possible that the Decleor has started balancing my skin out after only 2 weeks and therefore I need to change my type of cleanser to one suited for a more normal skin?
I'll try the Yonka cleanser out another few times but if it continues to dry my skin I'll have to dump it.  |

Well, this is a general rule and there are exceptions. But, usually, foaming cleansers are for oilier skins and cream/lotion cleansers are for drier skins. I think gels can go either way and I usually associate them with normal to combo skin. But you can have more drying gels as well that would be more suitable to oilier skin types, and also less drying gels that are fine for normal skin (YonKa Gel Nettoyant would be an example of a gel fine for normal skin).
It is possible though that your skin has become a bit drier than usual. There could be reasons for it, e.g. the environment that you're in, current season etc
