Hi,
I am considering starting Retin-A for my acne. What strength should I start with? Should I start using every other day?
Does it cause alot of peeling? if so, about how long would the peeling last?
I am currently using Gycolic acid 8%.. is it ok to use with Retin-A?
my skin is pretty sensitive and its prone to peeling... should i use Retin-A, Retin-A Micro or Renova?
Thanks!

Hi April,
Don't know if this helps...but when I started using Retin-A, I started with 0.05% and my face was red and peeled a bit for a couple of weeks...and I have pretty tough skin!...so considering you have sensitive/prone to peeling skin...I would start at .025% every other day and see from there. I've never used Retin-A Micro or Renova so can't say much about those, though I hear they were formulated for sensitive skin. Another option for those that can't tolerate Retin-A would be retinol. Hope this helps. |

If your skin in sensitive, definitely start slowly. Also, make sure your skin is completely dry before application, since putting Retin A on a damp face increases irritation. Hope your experience goes well. |

ditto on making sure your face is completely dry first. I've been using it for over a year and still wait 30 minutes after washing before I apply it. I started with the .025%, then worked my way up. Currently, I use differin in conjunction with the retin-a, not on the same night, but an either/or kind of thing, depending on how my skin feels. Renova is retin-a in a super-fatted base, so it is best for very dry-skinned folks. |
