When my skin is irritated, I use Avène's Recovery Cream (Crème pour Peaux Intolérantes), and I think it' perfect! In addition, I have the handcream in my office drawer, but find it a bit too sticky for everyday use.

I haven't tried any other products from Avène,but I am curious, and would like to hear other people's experiences with the brand. Very Happy

I did have their Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser. Found it too drying for my skin even though it is soapless and claims not to strip the skin. It was certainly stripping mine!
Gave up on it after about 2 weeks and relegated it to the box under the bed where all my bad skincare products go. It's keeping Dermalogica Soapless Gel Cleanser and Neutrogena Clear Pore Cream Wash (and many others) company. Very Happy

I also bought the Cleanance K Oil Control Emulsion. I only used it a few times and therefore couldn't really comment good or bad on it. It certainly didn't produce any amazing results during the scale of time I was using it.

Maybe it's best for your skin to use milky or creamy cleansers instead? I used to love cleansing foams, but for my dry skin, even the ones for dry skin were too drying. Now, I try to stick to non-foaming cleansers, and my skin is much more behaved.

Perhaps you're right. I've got oily skin but I have found that a lot of foaming cleansers are too drying. I've always thought that creamy cleansers may make my skin more oily though. Strangely, the Neutrogena Clear Pore Cream Cleanser was drying out my skin. I'm currently using a creamy cleanser in the morning which is proving pretty good. I use a foaming cleanser at night but may have to bin this as it is starting to strip my skin.
I've ordered a Yonka Gel Cleanser and fingers crossed this won't be too drying for me. Smile

Never thought of a milk cleanser. Do all milk cleansers have to be used with cotton wool or are there any rinse off ones?

I always rinse off milky and creamy cleansers as well, no matter what the packaging says.

My favourite and recommendation also for you, is the Ultracalming Cleanser from Decleor. It is not a milk, but has more of a cream-gel texture, and rinses off easily without irritating or drying your skin.

It is also excellent for eye-makeup-removal (except waterproof). I am on my third giga (473ml) bottle in a row, and will continue using it. A big bottle lasts me approx. six months when I use it every day.

Couldn't find Ultracalming Cleanser by Decleor. Dermalogica do one though, is that the one you have?

I'm not a big fan of Dermalogica. Went to see a beautician who gave me a bagful of Dermalogica samples and most of them have left my skin dry (special cleansing gel, anti-bac cleanser, skin refining mask, anti-bac cooling mask, dermal clay cleanser).
Maybe my skin is just too sensitive for those and would suit the Ultrcalming Cleanser. Will have to get hold of a sample. Smile

Oops, I _meant_ Dermalogica Embarassed The Ultracalming Cleanser won't leave your skin dry; my skin is ultradry, and this cleanser is one of the best for that.

I like some things from Dermalogica (the cleanser and Daily Microfoliant), but I think there are better creams out there. The Skin Smoothing Cream is an exception; it is lovely, especially in the warmer months. Now, when autumn is upon us, it is too little for my dry skin, so I have switched to Phytomer (and Avene)

Well, you've convinced me to try a sample of the Ultracalming Cleanser. Very Happy
I think maybe it's time for me to give my skin a break from foaming cleansers.
I sometimes use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in the morning and even though that is a cream cleanser I find it doesn't leave my skin too oily. I like to have a little oil still left on my face. Helps fight off the wrinkles!

Does the Ultracalming Cleanser leave any residue? Although I don't like cleansers that strip my skin completely, I also don't like cleansers that leave a film on my skin.

I don't feel it leaves a residue, only soft, clean skin.

You may even find that your skin gets more normal when you leave out the stripping cleansers. Smile

Thanks for the advice, Nemi.

Just need to find a Dermalogica stockist now that is willing to hand out free samples of the Ultracalming Cleanser. Will probably need quite a few sachets in order to give it a proper trial! Very Happy

I found that their Instant soothing hydrating mask is a good choice to quench the thrist of the skin without feeling stinky. I use the thermal water everyday simply good.. Laughing
