I was curious how everyone tops up their sunscreen during they day. I use Remergent SPF30 in the morning and then when I leave the office (either at lunch and/or end of day), I use the Colorescience powder SPF. I notice even with that though that by the time I get home, my cheeks look slightly pinker (although today I forgot to apply it right after I left work and didn't put it on until about 10 minutes later). Since I wear mineral makeup, I can't imagine it would be easy to apply liquid sunscreen. I just want to make sure I'm covered.
So I was curious what everyone else does to keep on being protected throughout the day and if you wear makeup (mineral or liquid?) or no makeup. |

I re-apply my sunsreen about half hour before I leave the office at the end of the day( I only do this during summer time). I use the Aveeno ss Spray - I like the sprary because it doesn't have any color (so I don't have to rub away any whiteness)and it absorbs real fast. |

I never thought about a spray ... I wonder how that would work over mineral makeup? I mist with Avene Thermal Water which works very nicely with mineral makeup, so I wondering if the sunscreen would sit nicely over top?
Does it ever iritate your eyes? I assume you would just close your eyes and spray it all over your face at once?
Edited to add: I just checked online .. do you use the SPF20 or 40? |

I did exactly that the first time I used it - spray directly toward my face and it did irriate my eyes, almost instantly, then I stopped and read the instruction on the bottle: for face you should spray to your palm first then dab on. I used the SPF 45(or 50, I left the bottle in the office) |

I also have same question. I read that u must apply sunscreen after every 2 hour as this is absorbed by skin even if u r indoor. But I am just wondering how to do this cos underneath sunscreen u have ur toner, serum, moisturizer and then final coat of sunscreen and then may be makeup over it.
So i am just wondering after 2 hours when u need to reapply sunscreen u'll have to wash your face clean it properly then reapply everything again or
just put sunscreen over your makeup (or on previous coat of sunscreen if not wearing makeup). Which i guess can cause breakout cos sunscreens are generally greasy
Please suggest I am really confuse ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/rolleyes.gif) |

I am ashamed to admit that I do not reapply my sunscreen. I know I should but sometimes I forget, or I really don't want to rub off my mineral makeup blush. I guess for people with perfect skin it's easy to reapply. Plus, does reapplying too many layers of physical sunscreen cause clogged pores. ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

I'm afraid I'm in the non-reapplying camp as well sweet I use Juice Beauty tinted moisturizer under mineral makeup in the morning and don't reapply sunscreen at the end of the day. I figure since I'm driving and not exposed to that much sun I'm okay. If I'm at the beach or poolside, however, I'm not wearing any makeup so I'll reapply sunblock every hour or so. |

I also don't reapply unless I am doing serious outdoorsy things. I know I should do it but I really don't see how w/makeup on. |

I am using the Remergent SPF30 and normally only apply it in the morning. I know that it says to reapply every 2 hours but I have found that it protects my face all day in the sun and I have never had even a pink tinge at all. I do apply it reasonably heavy and don't wear makeup. |

Ok, so I'm not alone. I think it should be okay, unless I notice I am getting too 'pink' or too much sun and start tanning. Otherwise, I don't usually get too much sun because I work indoors.
BUT, I just remember I use to use the Shiseido sunscreen compact SPF 35(?) to powder up my face with sun protection, in the afternoon, if I am out for too long in the sun. I think it works really well and it gives coverage like a foundation. I still have the compact in one of my purses, so I guess that would still be an option for me to use, if I want to reapply my sunscreen and still get some coverage. |

i'm just in love with bioderma's photoderm ar, which is like an extremely light tinted moisturizer. the packaging is a small flat tube, so it's perfect to tote along even in a tiny purse. i love it, and the fact that it's easy to bring along with me makes me remember to apply it.
but i do not wear mmu, just the occasional dusting of translucent powder.

That's an interesting idea as well. I might also look into a compact like that. I'm just worried that my Colorescience powder isn't applying over my face completely. Sometimes with that product, it's hard to see how much you're applying and if you're getting good coverage. I just want to make sure I'm extra careful because today I have a consultation at this laser skin place and if I get some treatments done for my hyperpigmentation, I want to try to ensure they don't come back! It seems like even though I do wear my Remergent SPF30 in the morning, and try to top it up with the Colorescience at the end of the day (or when I leave the office) I'm still getting spots! So either these are older spots now coming to the surface, OR I need to do something more with protection.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I think for me, because I do wear MMU, that possibly the powder compact or maybe the Avene spray might work best. I'm leaning now towards maybe the compact ... assuming I could get a good colour match or if they have translucent. |

Lara Hutton just came out with a SS that you apply over make-up. I was debating on trying it. Has anyone ordered it?

Here's a link with the sunscreen compact I was referring to http://www.cosmeticamerica.com/sh12534.html?synertech. I've never ordered from this site before but just wanted to show you what it looks like. I got mine before from Holt Renfrew, the Bay department store, and Taiwan (when I was traveling - also much cheaper). They even have refills available so you don't need to repurchase the entire compact when you finish using the compact. |

Thanks! I actually was out today and stopped by Sears to see if they had it and they did! I got the lightest colour SP10 which seemed a little dark when I applied it in the car (they didn't have a tester), but when I looked at myself at home, I think the colour does work. Hopefully this will give me better protection when I leave work over the Colorscience ... atleast it's easier to see you've applied it! |

I use Shiseido powder compact with SPF 50. I just apply that as and when needed, without disturbing makeup! |

I'm a total sunscreen fanatic, but have just recently started reapplying midday. Normally I'd put it on (any of the Shiseido sunscreens) and then in the evening before I walked my dogs. Now I "touch up" during the day with Peter Thomas Roth's new "Instant Mineral SPF 30." It's a brush that delivers superfine titanium dioxide and zinc oxide powder. I even brush it on the back of my hands periodically during the day. It's genius! |

Moonstarr, the avene spray is like a milky lotion. You really do need to rub it in so you couldnt really just spray it over makeup and let it absorb. It just wouldnt sink in. |

The one I use is Aveeno not Avene Aveeno has no color and sinks fast. I don't know about Avene. The regular cream one seems heavy for me. |

margot, that sounds very intriguing, does it leave a white ghostly sheen or does it manage to sink in and match your skintone? |

I layer a sunscreen (obagi spf 35) then a light tinted moisterizer with sunscreen (MAC) and then a light dusting of mineral powder (Jane Iredale has natural sunscreen.) sounds like a lot but the look is very natural and I don't need to top up unless I'm really sweating (and in that case I would just add another dusting of mineral powder.) |
