Caracol Cream?

Although this is my first time posting, I've been reading this board for quite some time now and love all the invaluable info.

I was just wondering if anybody has ever heard or tried Caracol Cream...would love any feedback on it.

Hi, Septembergirl. Thanks for the welcome. The testimonials on the net are giving this product the highest props. Supposedly, it's made from snails. Anyway, the Anti-Aging Commission has signed off on it, but I'm so leary of trying it because I've tried so many products and none of them have done what they claim...tighten skin and reduce wrinkles.

I did a Google search and have to admit that their marketing is so powerful and overwhelming that it puts me off a bit...

Statements like "Finally available to the public again in limited quantities" makes me initially sceptical.

Their marketing reminds me of the strategies of Strivectin cream and Lifecellskin. It seems like they are running a massive campaign right now with lots of links everywhere to their own website.

Personally, I would not buy this cream until it's carried by a reputable web shop (like EDS, Skin-Store etc) or there are enough trustworthy reviews (on EDS, Makeupalley etc) to get convinced.

I would rather buy serums and creams with ingredients that have some scientific backing on their effectiveness. Here is a list from Smartskincare.com that has been posted by forum member Alley in another thread. HTH.

Thanks so much for responding. I know you're right. I've tried enough products to know that it's probably all hype. I use Renova at night, but during the day I'm at a loss for a good product. If you know of any, let me know.

If you post your age and skin type and tell us which products that have not been working for you, it would be easier to give you some suggestions.

Great! I'm 59 and my skin is in pretty good shape. Most people I meet think I'm in my 40's...so, I guess, that's good. I just want to keep my skin looking good and, of course, younger. I'm trying to prevent sagging, and excessive wrinkles without doing any invasive treatments. My skin is kind of sensitive...mostly dry, but if I use any really rich products...I'll break-out. I have a tendency, at times, with the wrong product, to have signs of rosacea...very minimal. That's what I mean by sensitive. I just want to keep my skin firm as much as I can...I realize this might be a bit unrealistic without going under the knife...but I'd like to try any product or non-invasive treatment that will help keep my skin looking good.

Hello.
All I can do is to mention some of my own favorites and products that are popular among EDS-members. Renova is supposed to be great and has got solid scientific backing for its effectiveness on fine wrinkles. It's fine to use it every night as long as your skin tolerates it. If you suspect it to cause sensitivity, you might cut back to every other night.

I have no idea which products that you have been dissatisfied with. You might consider a vitamin C serum for day time use, as it's a potent antioxidant and give some protection against sun damage. Long term use of topical vitamin C can promote collagen growth and even out skin tone. Some of the most stable and popular C serums on EDS are SkinMedica vit C complex, Vivier vit C serums and SkinCellularRX C+.

The most important product to prevent signs of aging, is a quality sunscreen for every day use.

Exfoliation is particularly important as you use Renova. Personally, I would avoid chemical peels and go for facial dry brushing (my favorite), or a microfiber cloth, like this one from PSF

If you don't like the idea of using a vit C serum, you may consider: Remergent DNA Repair, Priori Idebenone and Coffee berry range, PSF serums, NaturDerm Chrysalyx and Alpha Derma CE. You can use the search function on the forum to find reviews or read about the products on EDS website.

DMAE and peptide serums might be worth a try, but I don't have any personal experience with those ingredients. Hopefully other members will chime in with their recommendations. HTH. Smile
